Wow! What a great meal I shared with a friend here. We sat at the bar and had quick service from a young girl with short curly hair. She was eager to help. Always had a smile on her face. I will definitely make a return trip here love it.

We don't go to Cookeville very often but when we do, Mama Rosa's is typically on the list of must have restaurants before we head out! The pizza is awesome, but the Italian dishes are to die for! If you can't make up your mind they offer are taster dish with a sampling of their signature pastas, including lasagna that is some of the best you'll ever have!!! I would like to see a few more craft beer selections and the tiramisu should be available more often! But other than those two criticisms, this place is excellent. Lastly, of course I have to comment on the service. That is why you eat out, right?! The waitstaff have been super sweet, knowledgeable, and have always paced the meal perfectly every time we've visited. Our favorite is Casey! Ask for her when you go!!!

I cannot say enough about this food. I couldn't even snap a picture before I started eating. The eggplant. Parmesan was a perfect ratio of eggplant and breading.. My husband had the baked Italian sausage and meatball dish with ziti pasta. The meatball were superb and classic Italian. The marinara sauce is light and fresh and not too salty adding Parmesan cheese gave it the perfect bite. The pizza has the perfect glutenous pull that you're looking for when you have a good slice of pizza. Being a recent transplant from California I've been been searching high and low for good food in Tennessee and this by far has surpassed any restaurant that I have tried as far as quality and taste of food. My husband and I also had our salads and the blue cheese dressing was delicious. Our server Abby was excellent and friendly.

Best Italian food in Putnam county! All fresh Ingredients-made to order and large servings shareable! See pictures.

Absolute great stop. One of only two places in Cookeville worth stopping for pizza. Absolutely amazing calzones and Stromboli's. And the toasted Italian Cheese bread, while nothing over the top, is soft and just the right starter. Everything we seen come out of the kitchen looked great.

Honestly just best Italian food around. Loved them since I was a little girl and still haven't found another place that has as good of Stromboli as them. If I ever moved, I'd probably have to have my parents mail me some of their food somehow. It's just that good! Service can sometimes be better, as I do believe they hire college kids most of the time and they aren't always the most attentive. But honestly the food makes up for it.

Will do in a pinch. The exterior does not bely the deteriorating nature of the seating but overall it is a nice eatery with pleasant staffing and ambiance. Americanized Italian food seems to have fallen off in recent decades but given this fact, the food is decent just not very flavorful or inspired.

Mauricio's Italian Restaurant - Pesto Pasta with pan seared shrimp

Our 19-year Anniversary dinner started out well. We had a fabulous waitstaff (Andrew) who fixed our…read morerocking unstable table. We opened a beautiful aromatic Montepulciano red wine and had a deliciously crisp and perfectly cooked and chilled shrimp cocktail. From there it kind of went downhill. We both ordered a replacement of the house salad with a Caesar salad and it was a $6 up charge.... Which would be ok if it was decidedly different in size or components - but if you look at the picture you see how incredibly tiny this salad was. For the record, we asked for lightly dressed and it was perfect. But worth a $6 up charge? I think not. I ordered the petite portion of the chicken piccata ($17) vs a full portion ($21) and I was definitely ripped off... again look at the pics. Additionally, while the chicken and pasta were perfectly cooked, the seasoning was definitely NOT Italian and NOT piccata but had a weird flavor profile closer to SW USA - not what I expected. My husband ordered the ribeye Medium rare and it came out rare and COLD. He sent it back and it came back lukewarm and grisly. It appeared it was microwaved instead of hitting the skillet. We wanted to dine together so he struggled through it. We've eaten here twice before and were appalled by what we were served this time. We asked to speak with the chef and were told the service manager would come - which she did. But we requested the chef. Jaime came out to speak with us and listened to our input. We SO appreciate him listening. He let us know the ribeye had not been microwaved but hit the grill again. He admitted their piccata is not traditionally seasoned (no lemon flavor). Hopefully they either change the menu or make it more traditional. Chelsea the service manager came out again and comped our meal (which was not necessary because we understand there are profit margins) the owners must manage). As one of the local fine dining establishments, if the owners want to keep that space, they need to make sure they offer value and quality to their customers. Last note - if establishment is going to upcharge for size or substitution, it should reflect the upcharge value. We are grateful for the discussion, the comp, and the willingness to hear what a foodie likes to see. We will give you another shot, and look forward to the opportunity to update this to a five star review instead of two stars

Its important to note that the place was not even half full at 1pm on a Sunday. The service was extremely slow and we had to ask for everything- refills on our waters, silverware, salt and pepper, ketchup, etc. Four of us had meals that came with french fries and when we asked for ketchup- we were brought one single serve cup of ketchup, and by the time they brought us more, we were almost done eating. I can't speak for the rest of my party, but my burger was almost inedible. It was like a hockey puck- overcooked, dry, and tasteless. I didn't even finish it and I'm a fatass that always cleans his plate. One thing I had in the past that we enjoyed was the Limoncello cake- so we decided to get two slices for the table to share. It took quite a while to get the cake to the table and we understood why when we cut into it. It was almost completely frozen in the middle. We mentioned this to the server and he apologized as he handed us the bill. I felt he could've at least removed the cake from the tab. This place tries to give off some type of fancy or trendy vibe and they are not even close. There are several other places within walking distance that are MUCH BETTER. I will never come back here- at least not until they get some of the basics down like food and service.
