Love Hooligans! I'm so glad that the team there provides a space that is 21-and-up only here in town. There are very few of those around here, that you will find. The selection of beers and liquors here, and the recipe knowledge of the bartenders, will leave you unable to decide what to order! Lots of craft beers and unusual brands and flavors available. They do serve food here, and have a full kitchen. Their menu is typical bar fare mixed with a few surprises. My favorite thing here is their French dip sandwich, it's absolutely superb. There's lots of space to sit, lots of TV, a music player available to all, and lots of locals to chat with. Stopped in on our way driving from Texas. We were hungry and it was the only place open at 10pm. Luckily the kitchen was still open too! Unfortunately, smoking is still allowed inside which sucks. However, it wasn't that bad in here. Ventilation must be pretty good in here. Server was very good. Neat that they had a real Irish accent. No BS here. Got the baked Cod and broccoli. It was pretty good. It comes over rice. Pretty loud inside but it's a sports bar so that's normal. Sound system was decent. Walked out and there was a guy breaking into a car. We needed a good little study break and Hooligan's was recommended by a classmate. It did not disappoint! We ended up sitting on the patio due to the smell of smoke... We had an awesome server, I really wish I could remember her name. But she was very helpful in recommending what she liked on the menu. Wings Pineapple jerk 5/5 I'll go back for these! Don't forget the ranch Cajun 2/5- the Cajun wasn't Cajun enough for me. It didn't have much of a flavor to it S Mashed potatoes 3/5 they weren't hot when we got our plates, but they were homemade. They had a fairly decent taste. Mushroom Swiss burger- very good! I only ate half of it and took the other portion to go just ti end up throwing my leftovers away. Meat was cooked medium well, and dripping with juices. Michelob Ultra-10/5 lol Prices here are fairly reasonable. We came to watch a football game and didn't eat. But, saw food coming out all around us and it looked/smelled amazing. By the looks on the peoples faces, it tasted great too. they looked happy. We had beer and coctails. Cool bar to watch the games at. They do allow cigarette smoking so, be ready for that if you don't smoke. read more

We are regulars here and I will say the service at the tables SUCKS. They need to hire more wait staff and re-train this lady that's here now. It's been over an hour and we have been watching her fail over and over again. All of the tables have looks of the same. This is not the first time, just the first time I am complaining. Excellent shrimp, great fries, and awesome cold beer. Also very good service. My only complaints after 2 visits now is that I wish they kept the restroom a bit cleaner, and on my second visit, the shrimp was cooked in either overused or unfiltered grease, making it a little too brown and crunchy. But it was still good enough to suit me. This is now the only place for me when passing through Cookeville TN. Oh, and btw, the atmosphere is top notch. As others have said, this place will leave you smelling like an ash tray after an hour. The smoking just takes everything that's good about this place and makes the whole experience bad. There is a lot of good about Hooligan's. Nice bar, nice selection of beer on tap, and the food is surprisingly great. The also have Guinness on tap with Nitro, as it should be. What they need to do is invest in some Harp glasses so they can pour a proper Guinness pint. Yes, I'm a Guinness snob. Deal with it. Guinness should only be served in Guinness Harp glasses, drawn from the tap with the proper technique. If you own a bar and you've made the investment to provide Nitro Guinness on tap, why would you stop short of buying a couple dozen Guinness Harp glasses? Just doesn't make sense. So the takeaway from this review is . . . . to takeaway your food and avoid sitting inside and getting sick from the smoke. And no Guinness I'm afraid. :( read more

Stopped by to meet an old friend there. Ordered some beer and food. We had wings and a buffalo wrap with fries. Food was good beer was great. Service was good, bar tender was great. My friend is a regular at this place, so we had several servers and people stop by to say hello. This place was very homey,it seemed like everybody knew each other. I heard this place had great Fish N' Chips. I heard Right! There was plenty of good choices on the menu to choose from but I was recommended the Fish N' Chips so that is what I had. Surprisingly good pub food...though mostly American fare...not traditional Irish pub grub...no, you will not find bangers n mash here. However, they do offer fish n chips and shepherds pie. This pub is 21 and up all day, as they allow smoking...yes, we did see some college kids carded and turned away when trying to just order food... What you will find is a selection of bar food...burgers, sandwiches, wings, appetizers...they are also well known for fish n chips...hand breaded fresh cod n home cut fries. They have an extensive offering of craft beers n imports. There are also about a dozen rotating cider offerings. We stopped in for happy hour on a Tuesday...selecting two apps n drinks. Service was quick n friendly. The bacon cheddar fries were loaded w cheddar cheese n lots of crunchy bacon. The ranch dressing was runny. The bakers dozen of fried shrimp was quite good...large, fresh, not frozen shrimp, that were hand battered in a light n crunchy breading (Same as used for fish n chips). The cocktail sauce was obviously house made n very heavy on fresh grated horseradish...yes, it gives quite a bite. They offer daily happy hour specials on drinks n food. They have several theme nights, trivia on tuesdays, wing night on thursdays. There is also live music on the weekends. There are plenty of flat screen tvs and darts n pool available. There is also a covered patio if you find it too loud inside. If you are looking for a relaxed adult atmosphere w fresh bar food and plenty of craft beer options, this would be the spot for you...just remember, this is a smoking establishment, both on the patio n in the pub itself...although, it was not smokey when we were there. Great spot to watch a game, good food, good service but beware if don't like smoke!! We were driving back home North and was only place we could find with Sports Ticket to see all the games. Can't understand why every other sports bar be called didn't have Sports Ticket. Oh well, glad we found this place. Conveniently located in plaza on main road off highway. Plenty of parking. The inside is a typical sports bar with plenty of big TVs everywhere to watch all the games!! The crowd was very nice and diverse will say, with fans supporting almost every team watching. Had great conversations with many people who were all very nice. The food was very good..had chicken quesadillas, buffalo chicken sampler platter and friend mushrooms. All the food was good with decent portions. The service was friendly, Welcoming, and efficient - especially since Place was packed. Only downfall for us was they definitely need to upgrade their smoke reduction system. Omg do people chain smoke in this area. I would guess 90% of the patrons were smoking and when we got in the car later we reeked of cigarette smoke. I'm betting someone from the area won't mind but god my eyes were burning when we left (I wear contact lenses). I've have been eating here for years and the food and service have always been great but with that said tonight will probably be my last time here. We had a group of 7 people all ordered at the same time and everyone either ordered wings or burgers. After almost an hour the first of the food started coming out. And that was only after being asked why it was taking so long. Then about 15 minutes after the first orders came out the rest of the table got our food. I ordered a hamburger that took an hour and ten minutes to be make. Then when it finally came it was not what I ordered. I asked for medium well and got medium rare and barely warm. So I sent it back there was no "I'm sorry can I fix this" no offer to remake it correctly not that I would want to wait another hour for them to make another burger. There was no offer to take it off my bill I had to ask for that to be done as well. Maybe it was a fluke or just a bad night for the kitchen staff but if you are going to run a restaurant you better have some consistency coming from your kitchen or you are not going to have much business. read more

This is a quaint place to watch sports games live and play trivia. There are tons of screens to choose your favorite game. They also have a trivia game you can play online all the time. If you prefer, you can join in on Trivia Tuesday with a live version involving prizes. There is a great selection of beers on tap to help you up any game you're watching or playing. Then, there's the food! The nachos are awesome. And I can't get enough of the shepherd's pie. They serve some great wings as well. The service has almost always been great. There have only been 2 times I had problems, but both of those times, the place was packed. The issue was just slow service. I highly recommend Hooligan's. It's just fun! read more

I ordered delivery tonight. The quality of the food was actually....awesome. The onion rings were HOT..and Huge. The FF's were HOT and that never happens with togo food. The burger was HOT and fresh. I'm very well versed with restaurant take out food and was impressed with the quality. The only place ever... that gives you a choice of drummies ... and flappers for chicken wings. Have been to Hooligans twice on this business trip to Cookeville and this is my favorite place to eat while I am here. Other reviews just say that they have mostly American pub fare and that it primarily true. But I was initially drawn here because of the name because I am Irish. I can not review the entire menu for you because I only get one thing here. That is the Shepherd's Pie! It may very well be the beat entree in Cookeville hands down. Has a bit more cheese on top than a standard pie, but it is excellent! Additionally the service here has been exceptional! Both nights our waitress has been Cherish! She is the shining star of this pub! If you find yourself desiring some great food and exceptional service, stop by Hooligans and make sure that Cherish is your waitress!
