Server was not to great, appetizers we ordered was buffalo chicken dip and Trashed wings. Wings was $18 for some undercooked/raw wings. Buffalo chicken dip was ok. BBQ Burger and 3 sushi rolls for entree. Burger was mid, found better sushi out of grocery stores. This place will not be on the returning to list. Not traditional booths with padded sitting. Definitely better than last time we were here. We sat at the bar and Lexie took great care of us. I had the Peach Spritz without the simple syrup and it was perfect! (Drakes should seriously consider recipes without the simple syrup). My husband had the Liquid Sunshine and said it seemed more like a cream drink than sunshine. His 2nd drink was the same as mine. We started with the Tuna Stack which we both adored. It was fresh and tasty. For our meal, we had the smashed cheddar burger. Flavor was great but the burger was just a tad bit greasy. DISGUSTING AND HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! we went during the least busiest time of the day, there were probably 15 other people there, maybe less and we waited too damn long for some waters. We ordered an appetizer and this waiter brought us the nastiest used plates. The worst dining experience that I've had in a long time. The service was poor. We waited 20 minutes for the food. Then another 5 minutes for napkins and cutlery. The patty melt was raw and nasty. My guests sliders were awful as well. The tables and bench seats were very uncomfortable. No real atmosphere. Lacrosse and trivia on the televisions, neither of which I was interested in. While visiting my son in Cookeville, we started making lunch plans. My criteria was that I did not want the same old, same old. A native of Cookeville, he turned down the idea of several restaurants along the interstate and suggested Drake's. The idea of burgers and sushi intrigued me and we were off. When I sat down to write this review, I found the lower than expected rating a bit of a shock. Let's see if we can clarify that. Many of the one star ratings complained about slow service, cold food, wrong orders, etc. This was not my experience. As I said, my son is a native and this has been one of his go-to restaurants since they opened. Those ratings also included comments about great service when they opened, but that it fell of quickly. As he has visited the restaurant consistently through this time period, he has not had the experience of those giving it a one star rating. Now, on to my experience. Our server was very energetic and bubbly. She admitted that this was her second week serving by herself and that she has so much fun working here. One of my criteria for service is, "Does the server only smile while at a table, or are they happy when walking to the kitchen?" She was happy all the time. Please do not misconstrue this comment. It is only meant as a way to identify her. She had unforgettable cheek dimples when she smiled. There was some delay in getting a server to our table for our drink order, but several people stopped by to apologize and promise attention quickly. Enticed by menu offerings of a filet Mignon and a sushi roll, I passed. The value was not bad, I just did not have a ravenous appetite. Both my adult son and I have a similar approach to menus that appear to provide large portions, he opted for the Buffalo Chicken Dip appetizer. They brought two plates. I misunderstood and thought he had an entree coming, so I helped myself. After a few bites, I backed off but enjoyed the taste I had. My choice was the Bourbon and Rye Patty Melt which I think was a limited time offering. It was nice to get a burger on rye bread instead of a too large bun that did nothing except fill you up. Two patties were included and they, the onions and the rest of the sandwich was wonderful. Cole slaw as a side was plentiful, and the dressing had a nice bite, more like Miracle Whip than pure mayo, or they added some cider vinegar. It was good. Bloody Marys were featured. I tried one but was not impressed. I mean, it tasted good, but the Worcester Sauce came through, but it lacked the bite of any hot sauce and there was not enough alcohol to make itself known. The house beer was a better choice. Given the weather, they had all the windows open from the porch. At first, it seemed breezy and cool, but after a while, it was not noticeable. So much for accurately defining a light, airy ambiance. Cookeville is not a frequent destination, but I will ask my son to go back again. I want to try the sushi, although I did not see a traditional sushi chef or sushi bar. I'm sure my wife would like it. My other adult son is more persnickety about his sushi so his take would be helpful. Overall, my experience was unlike those who did not have as fortunate an experience. Unless my resident to Cookeville son rejects my request to go back, I want to take my whole family. read more

A party of 3 on a Saturday night. One of us had the patty melt, it was cooked fresh, delicious. I had the burger on special, Josh burger. It wasn't on the menu so I asked what was on it. Waitress had to go ask. I asked for a side of their horseradish mayo. She brought me mustard! (I finally did get that horsey mayo, that sh-t is good!) I could go on, but I won't. I will say if you get a burger demand they cook it fresh. The meat in my burger was cold and I swear it was cooked at lunchtime and served to me at dinner. I was extremely disappointed. definitely recommend this spot!! would love to be here for football season, could see it being very busy and a good time. i came in august with my family and we had Kelsey as our server and she was amazing! was very nice and knowledgeable, asked all the right questions when we ordered and had the best answers. Everyone there was very friendly. Lots of TVs and has outdoor seating, opens the garage doors when nice weather. Cons: When Drake's initially opened at the Cookeville location we were SO excited to have a new sushi restaurant in town- after giving this location multiple tries our expectations were not met in the slightest regarding the sushi preparations. The fish does not seem to be fresh or of higher quality, and the sushi is overall lacking in flavor. The cocktails taste "watered down," are overfilled with ice, and are lacking in quality. Pros: Drake's has a large craft beer selection and the atmosphere is nice. Outdoor, indoor, and bar seating are available. Being a casual establishment, it is an enjoyable place to visit after work to enjoy a craft brew. read more

This was our second trip to Drakes in Cookeville. The first experience was right after they opened so I withheld writing a review until they had been open for awhile. On our first visit the restaurant was much livelier and the atmosphere was really fun it was a Saturday during college football season. So we went back recently on another Saturday during this years college football season. It was a completely different experience. The restaurant was almost completely empty and the atmosphere was kind of depressing. On both trips the food was just average and on this most recent trip I'd call it slightly below average. I had the patty melt and the burger was dry and seemed like it had been sitting on the flattop for a long time. My wife's salad was apple blue cheese salad was good but nothing great. The service was friendly but very slow. The food came out fast but our server wasn't very attentive. It just took forever to get our bill and find the server if we wanted anything. I don't think I'll go back. Food and service wasn't terrible, it was just ok. With the cost of dining out there are just too many other better options to spend my hard earned money. read more

I have been to Drakes in multiple cities in KY and I do like their foods. Some locations are better than others, mainly because the burgers or sliders are overcooked and dry. However, I am avoiding Drakes now even though I want their food. Their seating, ALL of it is so uncomfortable that a person cannot enjoy their food. All seating is hard, no cushions, booths are elevated and not comfortable for people who are shorter or have leg issues and most of the tables are fixed in place and too far from the seat. The patio style tables that are regular height are also hard as sitting on concrete. When it's time to choose a restaurant, I often think "Drakes" then immediately think "No, uncomfortable". read more

My family and I decided to wait until the opening cooled down a bit to try Drake's. The overall atmosphere is an extremely loud two bar sports bar. It is extremely loud in there, so if you have anyone in your party who has stimuli issues, not even the patio will be doable. Service...hmmm....we actually have been here several times before I decide to do a review. It's only fair. I can understand a new place just opening needing to work out kinks. The wait time was anywhere from fifteen minutes to an hour and a half. Well, I'd like to explain the lengthy wait when you see so many empty tables and wait staff just hanging about with time on their hands. My husband and I walked up and was told it was at least a 45-minute wait on a visit. We accepted this and had the app, so we knew where we were in line. We noticed couples and even families of 4 opting for the bar as the hosted had begun offering it. We were not offered that option. My husband asked the hosted after 45 minutes had passed, why the long wait. We were told because the kitchen was backed up! The kitchen was backed up! A manager had come out to the hostess stand to see how the wait line was, well, non-existent because people were seated at either bar! Why continue to seat people anywhere if your issue is in the kitchen! The food was overpriced and underwhelming. We tried the new Drakes in Cookeville. Ambience was terrible, felt like you were walking into a cafeteria. Very loud noise, tables up against each other, no booths. We sat at a table outside but the music was very loud and the waitress had to keep asking what what?? The food is way over priced. Chicken fingers Mac and cheese were ok, poke bowl and shrimp tempura was good. But with 1 drink each and a 80.00 dinner bill. There are better places with better accommodations. read more
