I'm writing this review as a long-time resident of Orlando, Florida, so trust me....I know good…read morefood when I experience it! Cookeville is such a small, quaint, and friendly town with such genuine charm to it. My husband and I visit his mimi every year and as part of our tradition, we select a restaurant in town to eat at to give her a break from cooking us meals. This year we chose Spankies! We were greeted by warm, welcoming faces, and the restaurant's ambiance felt comfortable and inviting. We ordered quite a variety from the menu! And every single dish, from the starters, to the entrées, to the sides were each absolutely delicious! You cannot go wrong with any order. 5 stars for a lovely experience!

The menu had something for everyone--from salads to burgers and classic bar food. The tostada salad was a hit I forgot to take a picture. I have mixed feelings about the visit. While the food was a hit (everyone enjoyed their orders), the service was a bit slow. It took a while after being seated, to place our orders, and finally get our food. Our server was very sweet, but seemed stretched thin--possibly juggling too many tables. Overall, a decent local stop with a solid menu, but be prepared for a more relaxed pace when it comes to service.

This pains me! I was so excited to try this place. Cookeville needs a nice cocktail place, and 1854…read morehas great potential. But it's not there yet. To be fair, this review is only for NYE. I would not recommend this place for NYE. They had an extremely limited menu that was not published beforehand. If it had been, we wouldn't have gone. There were several gin drinks, one bourbon, and one mocktail you could add vodka to. That's all. You couldn't order any other drinks. We hate gin. So we stuck with the bourbon cocktail. It was 0% consistent. They said it was a batch, but every drink we had tasted different. Maybe the mix wasn't mixed well. Not the end of the world. It was still a decent drink. What was terrible is that only half way through service they ran out of the drink and would not make more. They said they were saving the rest for the next seating. So we were left with no drink options we liked. That's a big deal when you've *bought tickets* to be there. So we paid to be at a bar where we weren't given access to anything we liked and weren't told this would be the case when we bought the tickets. You have a whole bar there. Come up with another drink on the fly to replace the one you're out of. After several people complained, the bartenders said they would pour bourbon neat or on the rocks. Yeah, I can do that at home for free. If you are going to make people pay for access to an extremely limited menu make sure you don't run out of the key ingredients. The snacks were good and decently plentiful, but they weren't worth the ticket price (sushi that was not on ice, cheese, meat, fruit, crackers, deviled eggs, cookies) Would I come back? I'd like to give it another try only because Cookeville needs a place like this. If this was in another city, I wouldn't be back.

Love Hooligans! I'm…read moreso glad that the team there provides a space that is 21-and-up only here in town. There are very few of those around here, that you will find. The selection of beers and liquors here, and the recipe knowledge of the bartenders, will leave you unable to decide what to order! Lots of craft beers and unusual brands and flavors available. They do serve food here, and have a full kitchen. Their menu is typical bar fare mixed with a few surprises. My favorite thing here is their French dip sandwich, it's absolutely superb. There's lots of space to sit, lots of TV, a music player available to all, and lots of locals to chat with. Once again, the team who runs this place is definitely doing something right and I salute them.

Unfortunately, smoking is still allowed inside which sucks. However, it wasn't that bad in here. Ventilation must be pretty good in here. Server was very good. Neat that they had a real Irish accent. No BS here. Got the baked Cod and broccoli. It was pretty good. It comes over rice. Pretty loud inside but it's a sports bar so that's normal. Sound system was decent. Walked out and there was a guy breaking into a car. We watched for a minute or two. He gets in and starts diving under the steering wheel to get the wires out. Sooooo don't park out front.

We walk into Spankie's (questionable name, but really good apparently according to locals haha), and the bartender suggests 19th Hole ("Really good burgers!" He yells as we walk out, excited to have found SOMEwhere local to eat that was open late. We get there and are greeted by the friendly bartender, who immediately waves us three girls over to the bar, and says sit wherever with the best news of the night: "We serve food until 2am." Even though he was the only person running the bar and booths, we had fast, friendly service the whole night. And the food! I had the Smokehouse burger, with house made sauce (unfortunately they don't sell it in bottles; I asked) and fries. Everything was cooked perfectly. The other two girls had the wings and the Cuban sandwich. Everything was on point. We'll definitely be back if we make our way back to Cookeville!
