Everyone was friendly but the food was really good. My husband loves catfish and this was good and crispy. His absolutely adored the spicy Cole slaw. Said it was the best he's ever had. The pulled pork sandwich was really good and I'm loving that Memphis sweet bbq sauce. Definitely check it out. read more

The catfish was amazing! The breading was so light and it was cooked to perfection. The sides (mac and cheese and BBQ beans) were amazing as well. The Mac and Cheese was so creamy the best I've had in a long time. My husband had the pulled pork and said it was a little dry but everything else was fantastic! We'll definitely go back. read more

Great place. Food was outstanding! Ribs were tender, beans, hush puppies and corn bread were great ! The chicken was moist, hot and breaded just right. Tastes like your grandmas home made fried chicken! Made fresh. Will definitely be going back , and bringing friends! read more

Super awesome bbq and sides! Fast and great service! Food is always wonderful. It is an order at the counter restaurant, and really cute eating area! Would be great for a large group of people with multiple orders. A favorite in Cookeville! read more

Ate lunch there yesterday and not only was the food mediocre, but I witnessed the owner or manager absolutely talking to a young man that look like was probably having lunch with his mom or an older lady like a dog! I could hear the conversation he was very polite asked to see if she could send his company who had made a huge order a W9 or some kind of tax form, and the lady was absolutely so rude to him that I almost got up and said something. he was so Professional stood there and was like ma'am. I was just told to ask I didn't mean to upset you, but I will never be back to this establishment again. It sounded like he had something to do with the college there. If someone's giving me that much business, I don't think I would be talking to them the way she did.. you just lost a customer and hopefully the company he works for will never go back there. Do better I felt so bad for this poor guy but kudos to him. His company needs to know how professional he was and she needs a one star review which she's getting! read more

The service & food are good. The outdoor seating is applicable for the weather changes. Overall it is a clean facility

I grew up in CKVL and have loved Bobby Q's since the late 80's. I remember so many times with friends and family, sitting across from my Grandma and Papa, in the back room on the Washington location with all my family eating together. I missed seeing Mr. Migliore yesterday but things change. The food is still like I remember. I had my pulled pork with poolroom slaw and the fruit tea is amazing. It was delicious!!! The new Bobby Q's is the new Bobby Q's. For the locals - the service is different and that's a big adjustment. I encourage you to go back and take a bite of something you remember and talk about the time you used to eat with your Papa. The memories are still there. Keep local BBQ alive. It's wonderful what Monell's has done to keep this in our community. I do wish some things were different about the new Bobby Q's and I see easy opportunities to simplify and bring locals back. read more

I decided to grab a bite gear on a trip home. Growing up, on weekends with dad we would get Bobby Qs and I remember it being really good especially the pool room slaw, which is spicy. Well...things change. The slaw was crunchy, spicy and really good and it stopped there. Everything else was okay. The meats were dry, and no smoke flavor that you expect from a BBQ joint. The beans were overpowered with something...not sure if it was sauce or bourbon but it was strong. The staff was super friendly and helpful. But the food here is just ok. read more

Out of half the menu. Pulled pork looked 3 days old. Priced like it's in an amusement park. Did not eat there. Walked out. Piece of pie in cooler that had a bite out of it. read more

We were in Cookeville overnight before going kayaking the next day and decided to give BobbyQ's a try. Let me just say we were not disappointedly all! The environment was clean, friendly, and had cool stuff all over the place. Our server was talkative and amazing, she gave us some great recommendations. We ended up getting the sampler and it was so good. You could taste that Smokey flavor that just stuck with the meat, the coleslaw was perfect, white cheddar Mac n cheese was on point, and the fried Okra was cooked to perfection. For dessert we had to go with the banana pudding......wow, out of this world! If you are in the area definitely stop in, I do not think you will be disappointed! read more

If you're looking for a quick local place to have a very good meal it is a great spot. Nothing upscale or hip about this place but food was tasty. No reservations needed for a party of 10. The place was not huge but had about 20 tables total It was similar to a diner style of service. The waitress was attentive and knew what she was doing. Several items were sold out on the day we went which is good for two reasons, 1. the food moves and is not old. And 2. it must be good if people have eaten it all. Positives: Ribs were good. Dry rub and not too messy with sauce. The hot and sweet slaw was a good non Mayo option but damn it was hot. The curly fries were a huge hit with the kids The side of toast was delicious Everything comes with 2 sides Negatives The floor was oddly slippery Ribs were not consistent--most fell off the bone but one or two racks were not as good They have a 1/2 rack which is 4 ribs and then a whole order is 8. Decent portions but not huge. Hush puppies were very dry No bar or alcohol served. Not a BYOB either. Corn was over cooked read more

While the food was good for a quick lunch, the service by one employee is lacking. I have eaten lunch there two times in the last two months. Never frequented Bobbie Qs much before then. But both times the same employee greeted me at the order counter complaining about customers who complain. This young man seems to be focused on bad reviews ... not just recent reviews ... but bad reviews online from weeks or months ago. My peaceful lunch was not so peaceful because of this one employee. read more

The food was OK, but wow be ready to pull your wallet out. I got a meat and two vegetables and a drink $18. Way too expensive for me. The restaurant environment is very cafeteria style. read more

my husband and I decided to try the breakfast out as he had already said he did not like the lunch. let me tell ya it's one of the most disgusting meals I've had and all I had was nasty cold eggs and a rock hard biscuit. only thing that was decent was my fountain drink. I normally don't do reviews but I do not want people looking for good food to expect it there because it is absolutely disgusting like to the point i would not even feed it to my dogs or farm animals. read more

We spent a lot of money to be this disappointed. The ribs were too chewy, the pulled pork was bland and dry, the white beans were bland and the coleslaw had no dressing. The butter was rockhard and could not be spread onto cornbread or the hush puppies. The buns for the pulled pork sandwich were cold. read more

So yummy! I was in Cookeville one day around lunch time and wanted to try something local. I love doing that when I'm in towns I'm not often in. This place was delicious! Is Bobby Q's the best BBQ in Cookeville? Probably. Meanwhile, that's not a huge feat. Cookeville has poor food choices. On the other hand, the food at Bobby Qs comes in at a strong average. We sat and talked with Bobby (who can often be seen in the restaurant) and learned about his passion for BBQ. The good news is his meats are smoked out back on site. He mentioned to us that his restaurant was ranked top 40 in the nation. That's unrealistic. What you can count on is friendly service, lots of locals, fair prices and large portions. While Bobby Qs does make most sides on site, many of them lack flavor. Fortunately, the pulled pork, one of Bobby's signature items, is worthy of a mouthful. There's two sauces, a mild and hot and spicy that can be applied to increase the flavor, and you'll likely need to do so. Bobby also pushes his catfish, which fortunately is raised in the South, rather than purchased from oversees. He offers a few types of catfish: blackened, fried and mustard. I ordered the mustard, a recipe he said he was given from a guy in New Orleans, and it tasted no different than regular fried catfish. The catfish is average. I can't see anyone complaining about it, but raving reviews won't flood the market either. It's satisfying. We were exited to try the sides after Bobby mentioned they were homemade. Unfortunately, they didn't bring the buzz we anticipated. The fried okra and potato salad was bland. The mac and cheese, average and the corn on the cob tasted like it was previously frozen. Two things that will impress you: the fruit tea (similar to what they serve at Blue Coast Burrito) is good and the lemonade is mixed in house, rather than served out of the Coke machine. It's simple, when in Cookeville, whether to visit Tennessee Tech or just driving through (I'm not sure why else you'd end up here) there's few restaurants better than Bobbys. It's a consistent place to eat BBQ, where you'll surely leave with a full stomach and be content, but not begging to return. read more

My wife ordered curly loaded fries and they were extremely dry and bland , I ordered the baby back ribs and they were very dry as well , very chewy, like it was cooked and microwaved . We ordered a side salad and pay $3.25 and was the smallest and plain side salad we have ever seen . The only good thing from that dinner was the waitress, she was attentive and nice . The dinner was overpriced for the quality of food; in all, it was $27 and that didn't include beverages as we had water. read more

We came here looking for some good BBQ while visiting Cookeville. Loved our waitress! She was so sweet and attentive. We ordered the Sample Platter and some fried catfish. This business has changed hands from the original owner and so has the quality of the food!! My family dined in or picked up on a weekly basis and we were so sad they closed due to family illness, yet we were so excited the business was bought, renovated and opened up by a new owner from Nashville that also owns Monell's. Unfortunately we couldn't have been more disappointed! Cafeteria style now, we ordered brisket and pork sandwiches (somehow, they were all brisket) and I have NEVER had so much salt on meat! I was starving and 2 bites of tough, salty meat is all I could muster. They don't have any french fries and the beans looked soupy, the mac & cheese looked old and dried up....nothing looked good especially our bill which was ridiculous! We spent $70 and the food so bad we didn't even bother taking it home to our dogs. DO NOT BOTHER TRYING this place! It's not the same as the old Bobby Q's. I'm still hopeful they will make ALOT of changes and bring back the original foods and recipes! Ambiance is nice but it stops there. read more

The banana pudding is a must but it is hard to save room because they serve large portions. Ribs, pulled pork bbq, catfish, chicken.

A hidden gem; well known by the locals. Located one block off the square in downtown Cookeville. Bobby Q's specializes in barbeque and fish. We enjoyed lunch today and feasted for dinner a couple of weeks ago. Their fried catfish is out of this world-prepared perfectly. The other guest with our party had the barbecue plate and moaned with delight with every bite. They have a custom pool room slaw which will light you up- so I ordered half and half-regular cold slaw and pool room slaw. Their banana pudding is a house specialty and it is the best I have ever eaten. Easy parking beside the restaurant, family owned and excellent service. read more

Great food for a good price. I went with a friend for lunch on a Friday, the place was steadily busy, but the service and the food was still great. Just stopped on the way to Knoxville. But the recommendation for a local sure did not disappoint. Can't wait to visit next time. read more

I had the catfish and it was good. I am a recent transplant to Cookeville and it's the only catfish I have found. As far as the pulled pork goes, it was bland. The sauce was literally so thick it wouldn't pour out of the bottle without a ton of effort. When it finally plopped out it tasted like it was 99% cumin (or something equally weird). The baked beans remained uneaten for the two sides we got because they weren't good. Meh... I'll go back for catfish, but I'll go elsewhere for BBQ. read more

I have just recently moved to cookevile with high hopes of finding wonderful bbq to replace the amazing black dog smokehouse (champaign, il) in my life. I am beginning to see that it might not be possible, even here in the south. Bobby Qs was my third, and absolute least favorite, stop. I ordered the sampler platter with poolroom slaw and Mac and cheese. I received KRAFT macaroni and cheese! Seriously?!? Isn't the south known for it's down-home cooking of things such as Mac n cheese? Extremely upsetting. The ribs were tough and stuck to the bone. The pulled pork was dry. The beef just plain was not good. Even their bbq sauce was disappointing. It had a strange flavor to it that didn't even resemble bbq sauce. This journey is making me depressed. How can an Illinois bbq joint be better than every single southern bbq joint that I have ever tried?! read more

Visiting a buddy in Cookeville, and had dinner here! Very excellent service. Our waitress (Tasia?) was particularly attentive and friendly. The meat was very tasty, with a rich smoky flavor. A little on the dry side for my tastes, but I like a lot of sauce, so it wasn't a problem for me. A weirdly excessive amount of dressing served with my salad. Great fried okra! Have to revisit and try other things on the menu! read more
