    a basket of fried food

Family run and what a family! You really get a sense that you are a part of their lives and this family is loved by it's community. They serve each person the same as they open their doors or stay latter to offer you a late dinner at closing. Maybe it's the people but the food doesn't hurt either! Traditional and made with plenty of love and care!

All you can eat catfish with fries and hush puppies...delicious

Best local "country" cooking. Always good customer service from the staff. Highly recommend the fried pork chops!

Good for a mom and pop country quick meal. Very crowded inside, too many tables in the space. Nothing special or very clean looking.

They have a venmo barcode outside, (it is $10 for parking) but I couldn't get it to work, so I went inside. It was packed! But I did manage to pay and get a receipt to put on my dashboard. They told me I could get $5 off my purchase if I showed my receipt. However at the register they said that promotion was over. In the end, they honored it, so I appreciated that. We had the banana pudding and peach cobbler and an ice cream. The ice cream was purchased separately, so we got it immediately. But it took at least 20 minutes for the pudding and cobbler. At one point, I jokingly said to my daughter "are they making it right now"...and they I think they were. The vanilla wafers on the sides and bottom were crunchy, not soggy. It is one of the better banana puddings I've had lately. Definitely recommend it! The cobbler was warm but not what I was looking for. They have a ton of local made products and the bathroom was very clean. Their sign advertised Farm to Table. If we get out that way again I would definitely give their menu a try.

We were excited based off some of the reviews and pictures, but ended up disappointed. I kept trying to find reasons to make the visit better, but everything just fell flat. For starters, the staff wasn't attentive at all. The hostess went to sit us outside as requested, because it looked so relaxing from walking up, upon entering the outside, many people were smoking (cigs, not vape). I'd don't mind if people smoke, but I don't want to eat a meal with it lingering around. We then went back inside and they sat us in the corner by the drink station/kitchen. Throughout the meal, the waitresses gossiped about their lives and their customers while the table next us a waitress was wrapping silverware. Our waitress didn't arrive for like ten minutes and then took forever to bring our drinks back. The vibes were just all off. Like they all wanted to get out of there and not be around each other. It wasn't even late. The food was average, nothing spectacular. We got a burger and the fish and chips. For a traditional pub, fish and chips should be one of the best things on the menu, less than par. The beer cheese soup was a highlight. Very good. We also ordered some type of pear cheeseburger. Different, but not bad. I'd try something else if I were to return. The decor is traditional pub meets modern hipster vibes. Hard to screw up. Although, limited beer options. Only 4 drafts for a pub is kinda weird. The good news is there's a brewery next door. Like I said, I was optimistic and excited. I don't give a lot of bad reviews but this one didn't hit the mark. Considering there are many other options within walking distance, I'd try something else if I were you.

Our server Rachel was quick to greet us, friendly, and helpful. Brick walls, wood block sculptures, and old black and white photos of the town serve as decor, making the place very welcoming. A couple rounds of local beers started us and then we were off in earnest. The fried pickle spears were just as perfect as we remembered. Huge, hot, sour, and delicious, served with dijonaisse dipping sauce. Everything we ordered was delicious and each person at the table thought theirs was best. A smoked ham, cheese, and fig sandwich... cheese quesadillas... pork belly sliders... steak and mushroom wrap... all great. Our only disappointment was the gumbo. It tasted more like a bland bean soup. No seafood flavor and non existent seasonings, but even that wasn't enough to bring this place down. We cannot recommend highly enough!

Our server was great; one of the most friendly I've ever had. Sadly, that's about the only thing good I can say. It took 20-25 minutes for food to come out (and the restaurant was almost empty ??? why so long? ). The taco wrap was just plain pathetic. They need to hire someone who know how to prepare hispanic/Mex food. It was cold, cheese wasn't melted, and no seasonings. Just sad. Fried green tomatoes were greasy with a strange texture. Wife's meal was OK but nothing special. Sorry SS, go back to what was tried and true before you closed.

Throughout the meal, they checked in and made us feel truly taken care of. They even came by with fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies straight off the baking sheet and handed them out for free! The food itself was excellent. They offer great Southern favorites like shrimp & grits and fried chicken, but I went with the fried boneless pork chop. It was perfectly crunchy, full of flavor, and topped with a generous amount of delicious country gravy. Portions are no joke -- I only made it through half before I was stuffed. I did save just enough room to try the cherry pie, and I'm so glad I did. It was fantastic. I can't say enough great things about Local Joe's.
