Driving from Chattanooga to Kentucky we found ourselves in Celina, TN around lunch time. We passed a Subway, but we were looking for someplace with a feel for the area, and we found it! The first thing you notice about Ollie's is the elephant in the front of the bullding. You walk in and there are about 5 or 6 tables in the main room with a counter. We were greeted immediately and told to sit wherever we wanted. There was one other table taken when we walked in, but by the time we left, all of the tables were filled. We ordered waters to drink and the sourdough cheeseburger and shared an order of fries. Then we sat back to enjoy the ambience. Lots of fishing photos and photos of people attempting to eat their 2 pound burger! When we were leaving, someone ordered the 2 pound burger, so we missed getting to see some one attempt it. The burgers were perfect, just what we wanted. A flavorful burger with your choice of toppings with pepper jack cheese and a sourdough bun. The bun had been toasted also on the grill, so it had a nice crunch to it.

That was Good. Checked in to the nearby campground and asked if Ollie's or another restaurant were good to eat at. The campground attendants said, "Ollie's" in unison. I had The grouper, my husband had the catfish and both of my daughters got the elephant burgers. The guy at the next table got the "Tippsy burger." It was 2 pounds of beef. And let me add that the waitress was good. There were six tables in the front room and just as many in the back room and she was the only waitress and she didn't miss a beat. I think she had on roller skates.

Great fish fry and burger! Service was also attentive and kind. They brought our kiddo mashed potatoes to hold him over while we waited.

We were not bothered by that but some people may certainly be bothered by it. The waitress came to the table and asked if we needed a menu, she brought silverware and asked us what we wanted to drink. It appeared there was one waitress and one cook. We brought our drinks and asked what we wanted to eat and I said I wanted to pancakes with bacon and the I said are you sure are pancakes are really large as she motioned to about the size of a plate. I said yes I want two of them and I could have done without the eye roll at not taking her suggestion. The hubby ordered biscuits and gravy, eggs, hash browns, and sausage. She brought out our meal and asked if we needed more coffee or tea. It was a good breakfast and there was plenty of food to eat. We left there satisfied and I am sure when we are back in the Celina, Tennessee area we will stop in here again.

The little white building on 4th Street still wears its vintage RC Cola sign like a badge of honor, and the moment you push open the door, that familiar sizzle of burgers hitting the oil hits you like a hug from your childhood. We slid onto the stools at the old horseshoe counter, the same one I remember from when I was a kid, and watched the magic happen right in front of us. Patties kissed with bread for that impossibly soft center, fried in the shallow oil until the edges turned perfectly crisp and golden. My cheeseburger arrived "unsquoze," glistening and glorious, layered with that signature tangy sauce, crisp pickles, and onions that somehow make everything sing. One bite and I was twelve years old again--only this time I got to share it with my own family. The new owners have kept every bit of what made Dovie's legendary. Same perfect burgers. Same simple, soulful menu. Same feeling that you're exactly where you're supposed to be. My kids devoured theirs with the same wide-eyed joy I used to have, and we left with full hearts and fingers still a little greasy in the best possible way. Dovie's isn't just a burger joint. It's a living piece of Tompkinsville history that still tastes like home. If you've never been, go. If you grew up on these burgers, go back. It's every bit as wonderful as you remember.

Food=average/meh Service=poor, but not rude…read moreAmbiance=not bad. Typical pub vibes Man, I really wanted this to be a good experience. We were excited based off some of the reviews and pictures, but ended up disappointed. I kept trying to find reasons to make the visit better, but everything just fell flat. For starters, the staff wasn't attentive at all. The hostess went to sit us outside as requested, because it looked so relaxing from walking up, upon entering the outside, many people were smoking (cigs, not vape). I'd don't mind if people smoke, but I don't want to eat a meal with it lingering around. We then went back inside and they sat us in the corner by the drink station/kitchen. Throughout the meal, the waitresses gossiped about their lives and their customers while the table next us a waitress was wrapping silverware. Our waitress didn't arrive for like ten minutes and then took forever to bring our drinks back. The vibes were just all off. Like they all wanted to get out of there and not be around each other. It wasn't even late. The food was average, nothing spectacular. We got a burger and the fish and chips. For a traditional pub, fish and chips should be one of the best things on the menu, less than par. The beer cheese soup was a highlight. Very good. We also ordered some type of pear cheeseburger. Different, but not bad. I'd try something else if I were to return. The decor is traditional pub meets modern hipster vibes. Hard to screw up. Although, limited beer options. Only 4 drafts for a pub is kinda weird. The good news is there's a brewery next door. Like I said, I was optimistic and excited. I don't give a lot of bad reviews but this one didn't hit the mark. Considering there are many other options within walking distance, I'd try something else if I were you.
