We are real new here in Byrdstown. We have eaten at a few different places, and all of them had great service. We tried different items at each place. The Dixie has great coffee. Maybe the best black coffee I have had and it always tastes fresh and is hot. It is served in a ceramic cup, and the servers keep it filled. Although I am not a chocolate gravy fan, I see a lot of people ordering. The burgers are big, like really big. The grilled tenderloin is very tender. The fried tenderloin is the size of the plate. The fries are served hot and crisp. The serve a lot of pie. What does that tell you? There is a smaller dog outside on the sidewalk. I think his name is John Wayne. He is a very gentle people person dog. Give him a pat before you leave. read more

We stopped in here while we were on vacation on Dale Hollow Reservoir. We were getting ready to leave town and wanted to little breakfast for the trip home. In this little cafe you are likely to get called honey and hear the word y'all a couple times. Our waitress was friendly as well as everyone we ran into in the place. They also have music in the large room next to where we ate breakfast on Friday and Saturday night and they close about 8 p.m. The hubby did not care for the gravy too much he said it was pretty tasteless. I had eggs and Country Ham along with toast and found everything to my liking. Also as we sat there eating our breakfast they brought out fresh fried donuts and I was so tempted! This little cafe is right downtown Byrdstown and we will most likely eat there again when we are in town the next time. read more

Love this place! Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. Food is great and the value is even better! I had the catfish and the wife had the chicken tenders. The catfish was really fresh with a really nice corn meal crust. The chicken tenders are off the hook . I've never seen larger chicken tenders. And they were tender as could be. Comes with hush puppies and coleslaw, which are really good as well. Don't forget about the fresh made pies. Crazy good!' We stopped in because of the reviews on yelp. The food was not very good. My wife ordered chicken strips but they tasted like fish. My sisters salad had crotons that she had to spit out. I had waffle and chicken and it was pretty good. There was a funky smell and air fresheners were on the tables. There was a weird local music thing going on. A very nice young man with pink hair, black shirt and pants and pink bow tie played solo guitars but is nowhere near ready to entertain in public and it made things very uncomfortable as his family outnumbered customers. Finally, my sisters meal that was also chicken strips didn't come out until we were almost done eating. Nice people but not a very good place to eat. read more

We ate breakfast at the Bobcat Den yesterday, and this place blows them out of the water. Pun intended. The food quality was top notch. The prices are incredibly fair. Most importantly, the locals that work there are the absolute sweetest people. We got the chance to learn a little bit about the town and lake while chatting with the friendly/attentive waitstaff. What a perfect start to the last day of our Dale Hollow trip. This will be a ritual for us next time. read more
