Nothing fancy here. Just good old fashion country cooking. They make a great breakfast.

Fried Chicken Livers, Ho Cake, Turnip Greens, Fried Green Tomatoes, Okra. Best I've had!

Good, old-fashioned, hometown food. Not fancy. Not pricey. Just good food. Fast, friendly service. Lots of locals to make you fell welcome.

On one visit with only a few of us there our bartender disappeared for a good 20 minutes. Upon his return he was focused on everything but the 5 of us in the place until we finally had to ask to get service. The other visit everyone helped me but the actual server. Maybe this is a staffing problem, I don't know but being stuck for 20 minutes to order another drink with my meal is not acceptable. Although they had that check in my hand in under a minute and in under another minute to process. Again, super nicer people, but kind of oblivious. 2) Now let's talk about the kitchen. And I'm adding some input from the other diners because we all sat there waiting. - flavors are great, but the salt and spice level is overboard. I had the mushroom appetizer and nearly choked/coughed to death. I like heat but this was raw spice that overpowered the dish. And the salt about made my feet swell into balloons. Such a shame because the idea is great just poor execution - deviled eggs. Pass - BBQ Shrimp, sort of like the mushrooms right profile but overpowering - gumbo. Two other people had the gumbo and when I asked they said that too is just over spiced I want to like this place, but probably my last visit unless I just come for oysters. Sorry

They have limited lunchtime only hours and we came toward the end of their day so it wasn't too crowded. That meant that we got to chat up the staff and one of the cooks even came out while we were eating and checked up on us. Fun conversations. The staff was super cool and friendly and that goes a long way with me. The food here is very good with lots of choices. We chose the chicken fried chicken and the meatloaf. For sides we had the mac n cheese, corn pudding, chicken and dumplings and for dessert, a slice of the delectable pecan pie. Everything we had was scrumptious! However, my wife likes my meatloaf better though (bless her heart!). The chicken fried chicken breading was light but dense and full of flavor. It complimented the chicken well (so did the gravy!). The sides were yummy as well. If I lived in the area, I'd eat here several times a week. Definitely will return here one day. This place is iconic and if in Nashville, you need to check it out.

Such a classic comfort food spot with a super friendly server and an easy setup where you get in line, grab your food, then find a table. The fried fish was honestly the star. Perfectly crispy on the outside while still soft and flaky inside. So satisfying. The fried pork chop was a little dry for my taste, but all the sides were delicious and made up for it. The mac and cheese especially was sooo good. Overall, really comforting Southern food with a welcoming atmosphere and definitely worth trying if you want a more authentic Nashville experience.

So we went and yes, it's a truck stop with a restaurant that has coffee cups hanging all over the place along with military photos. There was five of us, I ordered the chicken fried steak with a side piece of fried catfish. The food was out of site. I couldn't believe how great this food was at a truck stop. I mean it was really good. If we go back next year, we'll go here again. And we'll be bring coffee cups to add to their collection.

Let's start with the expected: chicken fried chicken was amazing. The loaded fry appetizer also amazing. Sides were great. Mac and cheese and green beans both well above average to me. The waitresses were all so helpful and sweet. But let's talk about the other amazing part. This place feels right out of a post apocalyptic movie! If you've ever wanted to feel "out of this world" or in a community fenced off from the zombie apocalypse and struggling to make you feel some normalcy in your life... THIS IS THE PLACE. My goodness I loved it. An old couple in the corner was playing some Garth Brooks covers to set the mood. A "straight from the 80s arcade room" in the back had some flashing lights shine through the doorway into the main dining room. Also... this place was packed. The dusty parking lot did not have a single spot for us open and we had to wait on a parking spot. No wait when we got inside luckily. But back to the post apocalyptic vibe... I really can't explain it much better. The 80s arcade... the wood paneling on the walls. The old toy heavy machinery and trains lining the walls. The smell of the food thickening the air. Even the staff... all unique as can be!!! Don't forget the overstock Christmas plates they pulled out for us to use!!! Highly recommend this place for the food... but if you've ever wanted to experience what a restaurant would be like after the zombies take over... Give yourself a treat and come here!!!

I said yes I want two of them and I could have done without the eye roll at not taking her suggestion. The hubby ordered biscuits and gravy, eggs, hash browns, and sausage.
