My husband and I were in Gallatin Saturday looking into natural burial and decided to grab a bite around 12:30pm so I looked this place up and we gave it a shot. LEt me tell you it's the best $4.99 you'll ever spend! That includes two nice size pancakes two eggs and probably five crispy strips of bacon on my plate. Everything came to order, came hot, came quickly and the coffee was fresh. The only reason I give this four stars is that the atmosphere might not be up to everyone's taste but if you're Gallatin and your hankering for breakfast this is the place to go. Although when you walk in it is very worn, it definitely needs some updating, but! Once you order your food, you'll be glad you came. We actually ordered the ribeye steak and eggs. The steak was cooked perfectly and it was an actual like approximate 6 ounce of ribeye a thin cut, but so tender eggs were cooked. Perfect. Clearly a long established diner/meat-n-3 in Gallatin. I came here for breakfast. Seating is plentiful and eclectic. As soon as you settle in a waitress is there with the menu and gets your drink order. Upon her return we ordered basic breakfasts with eggs/meat/toast. All southern comfort food. We waited a little long for our food however the servers hustle and focus their attention on you when at your table. Breakfast is a busy time for Mables. My eggs were perfect but the country potatoes had been sitting too long (dry and hard). Apples were cooked til soft. almost no sugar or cinnamon added. I asked for my toast to be unbuttered and it wasn't. However, there were some service errors. The coffee cup was empty several times before a refill was offered and my request for honey was forgotten. I will probably come back but also recommend old Glory down the street. CASH ONLY read more

After reading other reviews I decided to give Mable's a try. I was looking forward to a scrumptious home cooked meal. I was sooooo disappointed! The only thing i have positive to say is the staff was super friendly! I had roast beef with gravy which was too salty, squash casserole that had the consistency of baby food and tasted like squash and mushroom soup, turnip greens with no flavor and Mac and cheese that was mediocre. So disappointed! My husband has pancakes and he said they were good, my dad had country ham and enjoyed it. So, I guess if you venture into Mable's your best bet is to have breakfast. read more

This place was cute. I came here with Brad when we were on our way to the Totality of the Eclipse (turn around, bright eyes) and it was wicked busy. The food was decent and the service was okay - I am giving them a hard pass on judging the service because it wasn't a regular day. From the way they handled the busy, busy morning I am sure they can handle regular traffic. The food was a step up from say a Cracker Barrell or other similar breakfast spot that isn't lighting the world on fire but is the standard breakfast offerings you'd hope for. Yeah, sometimes I want you to get creative but sometimes it is how Melissa describes a Hallmark Movie: it's okay to get creative but we don't want you to stray too far from the formula. Filthy. Old sign on bathroom door says "Don't use sink, hand sanitizer available." And then a stained sign over sink says "employees must wash hands". ??? All doors haven't been cleaned in months. Black stains from dirt hands. One door looks like it's never been cleaned. Waitress wiped our table (only after requesting it) with a filthy rag. Food took forever and was cold. Service was abysmal. Can't beat the prices. I felt like I was taken back to the 80's. $4.99 for three full pieces of French Toast, Bacon & two eggs. A side of hash browns cost $1,29. A side of sausage gravy was $.79. We've lived in Gallatin for 4 years but never tried this place until today. We went because so many people praise it on social media. Boy were we disappointed. The building is an old, run down and dirty cinder block building. There was mold on the ceiling. The room is dark and musty and lit with exposed fluorescent lights, many of which were not working. We stood there for 20 minutes waiting for a table to be bused, and without a single acknowledgement from the staff. Finally we left, hungry and frustrated. Well we found this little place on a drive. We arrived at 1045 am received food at 1130, but the order was given to wrong table and the guy moved the toast off the plate and she then tried to offer to us.
