No frills seafood store in Cookeville TN. I'm from Maryland originally so I really wasn't expecting too much here in the middle of the country. So my surprise when the uncooked jumbo shrimp we got for a recipe at home ended up tasting totally fresh and delicious! Service was very accommodating and friendly - good to know this exists in Cookeville! Will be back! read more

Don't overlook this little gem hidden in Cookeville. It reminded us of being in New Orlean's with great seafood. I got the shrimp poboy and my husband got the flounder platter. We both agreed that he won this round. Their housemade tartar sauce is worth your weight in gold. Would definitely recommend! read more

Great shrimp, great price. Stopped there yesterday and bought a pound of fresh shrimp, for homemade Cajun jambalaya. Highly recommend this place for your fresh shrimp and fish needs. read more

We really like Bubba Grands , especially the prepared takeout shrimp. We got plenty of shrimp and potatoes and corn and all in all at a reasonably priced meal. The shrimp was fresh and cooked just right. We're planning on returning soon. read more

Hmm....after riding around cookeville for what seemed to be forever trying to decide what we wanted to eat, we came across this place on Yelp! We called prior to visiting to ensure they could do what we wanted based off the type of establishment this is. The people who work here were very friendly and the establishment was really clean. Reminded you of a seafood shop on someone's coast. We browsed the menu, inquired about suggestions, and settled for the "Hoot Plate" but instead of the steamed shrimp I requested for it to be friend. According to the menu it states the "Hoot plate" was $21.99 which included "bubbas way" (1 piece of corn, 1 piece of andouille sausage, and 2 red potatoes) along with the steamed shrimp. In order for them to prepare it fried I needed to pay an up charge, which was fine. So I'm under the impression that I would be charged $21.99 plus an additional to prepare the shrimp fried. When it was all said and done we were charged $36.17, to find that everything was run up individually. Price breakdown.... $19.99 for shrimp, $3.99 to fry it, $1.99 for drink and $6.99 for 1 piece of corn, 1 1/2 inch of sausage, and 2 quarter sized hush puppies. For $6.99 I honestly would expect a little more considering the amount I'm paying for the add on. My issue with this is why was I charged to get "bubbas way" when in the "hoot plate" bubbas way was included in pricing. I'm aware that fresh and good seafood is pricey, but to pay this and be given this amount of a side seems a bit stingy if you ask me. Overall, the shrimp was really good it could stand a little more salt, which she offered "slap ya mama" seasoning for us to sprinkle on it. The huspuppies were good, corn was unseasoned, and the andouille aqua sage was a tease considering the amount given. read more

Bubba Gandy Seafood never fails! Its a hit for all ages and finger licking good! I literally caught my toddler licking her fingers after eating the fried grouper and fries! The prices are fair and the owners are wonderful people. It is definitely my go to for fresh seafood and all things Cajin related! read more

Great food and super friendly service. We had the calamari and shrimp poor boys. They also sell fresh seafood, which they will cook for you or wrap up for you to cook from home. read more

Yeah! Passing through Cookeville and saw this listing. Hadn't had real Cajun food in a while. Really fresh, prepared the way things are on the gulf coast! Great little spot off the highway! Cooked to order food, but still quick. Prices may seem high to you but fresh seafood this far off the ocean isn't cheap! Well worth it! read more

I did have high hopes and will give another try, I got catfish PoBoy but just struggle with a giant slab of fish on the bread, sauce was eh. Folks were nice and it's just some tables within the market. read more

Casual atmosphere, party of four of us and everyone was delighted with their meal. If you want lobster for in house meal you need to call ahead and give a day's notice. We bought two huge frozen lobster tails to take home. One we ate with a surf and turf meal already and it was delicious! Plenty for two of us to share. Saving the other one for Valentine's Day. Service was friendly and efficient! Great overall experience. Will definitely be back. read more

Fresh seafood. For the longest time I thought this place only sold fresh raw seafood. That is not the case. They have many dishes that they will cook for you for dining in or take out. Fresh fish, crab legs, crawfish, lobster rolls (call ahead). It's not a fine dining location. It's a seafood market with some tables up front for dining. Hidden gem that I visit when I am missing the beach. read more

Absolutely amazing food, can't find anything else in cookeville that served crab legs and this place hit the spot!

This is a really neat place! This is like a little slice of the gulf right in the middle of Cookeville. A really neat find. My dad and I saw a flyer for Bubba Gandy's while walking through Dogwood Park and decided to drive over and give it a try. In typical gulf style, you can have it steamed there and eat it, or you can buy it and take it home to fix yourself. It is not a cheap place obviously, due to what you are getting. They have a large selection of fresh seafood that is mostly from the gulf it seemed like. It was all very fresh and seemed to be a good quality. We tried the snapper and the royal red shrimp. It was seriously delicious. We had them fix it for us there and it was done just right. The andouille sausage was also spot on. Delicious!! I really enjoyed this place and if I could I would be a daily customer It was SO GOOD!!!!!!!! Please support this awesome, pretty new local business and give this place a try!! read more

If you're wanting a taste of Louisiana In Tennessee then run don't walk to this restaurant. This was the BEST tasting seafood we've had in a long time. We were driving past the region and looking for a good and quick place to stop and have lunch. While our meal was packed full of "fried goodness" I definitely had food envy when I saw the other diner's meal. They knew that you get the crab legs Bubba style. Nevertheless, I was very pleased with my lunch & will return for the crab legs on the next trip - you can be sure of that. The service was very friendly and you are welcomed just as if you are one of the locals. The cooler had smoked fish dip, which I wish I could've taken with me. The frozen section was full off all kinds of goodies. Yet, the piece de resistance is the fresh fish counter. It is full of beautifully presented fresh and saltwater fish and seafood. Let me say if they were in my hometown, I would be a regular too! I will add that this is the cleanest seafood market I have ever been too. It's not a surprise they have won the Best of the best for the past 3 years (2019, 2020, & 2021.) No doubt they will win it again. There is pride in place and in what they do, and you feel it the moment you step in. All in all, I will plan my travel through TN next time to make this a destination. read more

Way over priced for what you get. Kinda like having to look over the sticker on a car purchase and you are shocked at the price for simple add ons. read more

To start with the place is extremely welcoming by the lady that comes around and takes your orders. It's decorated with so many reminders of the ocean. The fresh seafood available for take home is amazing as well as all of the interesting and rare products they have to sell. The catfish melted like butter in our mouths and the tartar sauce was hands-down the most delicious tartar sauce I've ever tasted in my whole life and I'm 69! The French fries are breaded, and just absolutely delicious. These people get it right, you have to try it if you're in the Cookeville area!!! Omg they even have homemade pralines at the checkout counter read more

Is this a joke?! The service was exceptional! The food was phenomenal! Everything was perfect! I couldn't have asked for a better place to eat some delicious scallops and red shrimp and I had some corn! The corn was so soft! Everything tasted so good I forgot to snap a photo! Luckily we were able to stop by as were passing through town. My wife loves scallops and she said they were the best she's ever had (and she'd had a lot). Also had the shrimp skewer which was great. It was incredibly fresh and cooked perfectly. We'll definitely try to stop by if we pass through town again. read more

I was looking for something different in between Knoxville and Nashville and Bubba's happened to pop up on a Siri search for restaurants near me. I've never selected my seafood from a raw bar to be cooked. It all looked extremely fresh and very reasonably priced. You choose what you want from whatever is available that day and add Bubba's sides (corn, potatoes, sausage, and sauces). You can look into the kitchen and see them cooking your meal. I ordered a catfish plate and it was delicious. The entire staff is southern friendly and very attentive. I'll be back! read more

Awesome place to get really fresh seafood. Nothing frozen here. Very clean. Prolly needs a couple more tables, but they also have takeout. There's no menu. Instead you just look over all the fresh catches and make your choices. In just a short wait, it's prepared to perfection. I had the shrimp, potato's, corn on the cob, and sausage. Absolutely incredible flavor! I lived on the ocean for Many years , and loved the fresh seafood. Bubba Gandy's has brought the taste of the ocean to Tennessee! read more

First time here and it was absolutely perfect. Next time we are back in Cookeville we will definitely be coming back.

If you want fresh seafood in Cookeville, this is the only place to get it. It's pricey because of the freshness, but the food and service is very good. I wish they would come up with a basic menu, even if it's on a whiteboard that they can update, to help me select stuff. That said, I got a shrimp poboy here and it was very similar to what you get in Louisiana. Very good. read more
