I found this place online while in Hendersonville, so I decided to give them a try…read more They sat us (table of 8) really quickly. Our server was super kind, he had just moved from Florida so it was nice to know we are from the same place! For appetizers, I tried the fried pickles (not pictured) they were way too salty. We also had the creole seafood dip which was amazing! I went with the steamed shrimp, with Cajun sauce. It also came with potatoes, corn, and I added sausage for $4. The way it came out was different than other seafood boils I've had. The boil came out plain with the sauce on the side. I thought this was going to affect the flavor but it did not and it was so good! Overall we had a great time, they were very accommodating. I would return.

Parking was a little scarce. Walking in the decor was on them with Cajun food. We were greeted and…read moreseated quickly enough. The waitress were super nice, I thought the drinks took a bit but nothing outrageous and they were good. Thats the extent of the two stars. The menu looked great but was very disappointing. I was craving a boil so I got the shrimp boil. I got shrimp the were not cleaned and butter on the side. I asked if they normally don't clean the shrimp and they let me know that was normal practice, well not for me. The didn't charge us so that helped with their two stars. My husband had some chicken dish (voodoo chicken) with balsamic drizzle that tasted like water, not sure how but it did. I dont know how anyone gave this place more than 3 stars at most.

When friends become family!…read more The dictionary defines family as people connected by blood, legal ties like marriage or adoption, or strong emotional bonds. Herb and the entire staff at Voodoo Gumbo established a strong emotional bond with my family and me over four years ago, and EVERY TIME I come to Nashville, this is my go-to place to enjoy great food and even better company. I came back to celebrate my recent retirement following 25 years of service in the Air Force. Not only did Herb remember me, but he thought it no robbery to celebrate me with a very special dessert--I've totally been sleeping on the bread pudding and beignet on Sunday--IYKYK! The food here is always top tier--no wonder they have such a high rating with over 500 reviews-- but the personal touches are next level. Thanks always.

We haven't left yet and I'm already missing Voodoo Gumbo!!…read more They have a pretty good amount of gluten free options including the red beans and rice (which contains house-made andouille sausage), jambalaya, fried shrimp, and fried catfish. There is cross-contamination -- but I am able to have it. It's so rare to find gluten free fried foods, especially seafood!! The food was not only good, it was GREAT!! Everything was delicious! Shrimp was crispy and slightly sweet, some of the best I've had inland! Red beans and rice was so smokey and had a bit of sweetness to it, oh buddy it was great! On top of that, everyone was super nice. Guy who seated us was rlly friendly, girl who waited on us was SO helpful with answering my questions! We ended up with beignets that my husband said were the best he's had outside of NOLA. We got to meet the owner on our way out and he seems like someone who has a real passion for what he does. The decor was nice too - very on brand! It feels cozy in there, and everyone seemed to know each other - felt like a sweet little community spot. Currently trying to think of reasons to come back to Nashville so we can eat here again ! Only place we ate twice on our trip
