I don't think there's a restaurant more welcoming than Local Joe's. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and even offered a sample of their pork loin to see if our toddler would like it -- such a thoughtful touch. Throughout the meal, they checked in and made us feel truly taken care of. They even came by with fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies straight off the baking sheet and handed them out for free! The food itself was excellent. They offer great Southern favorites like shrimp & grits and fried chicken, but I went with the fried boneless pork chop. It was perfectly crunchy, full of flavor, and topped with a generous amount of delicious country gravy. Portions are no joke -- I only made it through half before I was stuffed. I did save just enough room to try the cherry pie, and I'm so glad I did. It was fantastic. I can't say enough great things about Local Joe's. Have eaten here 2x. The cafeteria line was kinda short and felt cramped when busy. The acoustic is horrible...can hardly talk when it's packed. Service was friendly. Country Fried steak: delicious and good gravy Cabbage: bland Enjoyed the AYCE catfish: filets were big, hot, and fresh Hush puppies: yummy! They are huge!!! They give you 4 pieces with the AYCE...trying to fill you up Scalloped potatoes: cheesy and creamy Mac and cheese: ok Green beans: canned but seasoned well Crab cakes: had to wait to bring to the table. The inside was still cold. Had it replaced...no comp. Jalapeno cornbread: almost no jalapeno pieces/flavor. Taste kinda like the regular corn bread Coleslaw: too fresh...cabbage was still super crispy Jalapeno fries corn: can see some jalapeno pieces but doesn't taste jalapeno enough Collard greens: ok Overall, a little pricier the the other "Place" down the road. WOW! Having dined at this location on several occasions I have found the food to always be top shelf. Fresh, high quality and amazingly flavorful. Their roasted turkey is off-the-chart delicious, roast beef superb and the side items did not come from a can. Everything is fresh made and it is difficult to go wrong. Oh yeah, the cajun snapper is something to try as well. The staff is friendly, knowledgable and professional. Also, believers. This is a family owned and operated business and the staff have been together with Joe for many years. Julia is credit to the company. She is so sweet and cares about the customers in a way that makes you want to come back. She is surrounded by the same caliber of people as herself. Caring, professional and knowledgeable of what is happening and if they don't know, they know where to get the answer...Julia. We ordered one of the turkeys, hams and a quart of gravy for our family Christmas gathering. On the day I was to pick up, I arrived at the appointed time, but....the order was not ready. The order was not done at all. The good news is the whole thing was handled in a way that made me write this review. Not only was everything prepared as described and arrived in a timely manner BEFORE the Christmas gathering started, they brought us a delicious fudge pie for the inconvenience. The pie was outstanding, one of the best fudge pies I ever eaten. The gravy is something like I've never had before. The flavor, texture and consistency was unlike any gravy. I wanted to just eat it as a side item!! Oh, the turkey and ham were, literally, right out of the oven when they were delivered. They were so hot when I was slicing them steam was pouring out and it was extremely hot to the touch!! Do yourself and your family a huge favor and try Local Joes. If you to have one of the best, if not the best, ham and turkey you have served on Thanksgiving or Christmas let Joe and his team prepare it for you. I assure you will not be disappointed. Wonderful meat and three. They use beef tallow! I had the chopped steak and onions, jalapeño cornbread, garlic mashed potatoes, collard greens and a free chocolate chip cookie! The mashed potatoes were the best I've had in a very long time. Everything was fresh tasting and this was after 3pm.The atmosphere is open, clean and cafeteria style with plenty of tables. Staff was very friendly and professional. I wanted to try this place because of the positive reviews but unfortunately for my girlfriend and I, we thought the food was off. She had fish which was kind of mushy, the potatoes were very dry, and the corn bites were luke warm at best. I had the meatloaf which wasn't bad with the two same sides as mentioned. I also had deviled eggs which were good and the cornbread was ok. I wish this place the best but for the money spent, I don't feel like the quality of food we received was worth the price. read more

I was in Hendersonville with a group of ladies for a retreat. We wanted to try somewhere for dinner that we don't have at home. The first place we chose didn't look like the place for us. We went a couple of doors down and found Local Joe's. We are so glad we did! Joe and his staff were amazing. Joe told us he has a couple of scriptures that he uses to as a standard for his business (Hebrews 13:2 "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.") Unfortunately, I can't remember the other scripture. Joe also told us that he has employees with developmental disabilities that have been with him for over 10 years. The food was great. My baby back ribs were fall of the bone tender. A couple of ladies had chicken which they said was the moistest they had ever had. Another lady said the catfish was the best she had ever had. My husband and I have eaten at Local Joe's several times. It has become one of our favorite places to go for good food in Hendersonville. Best burger in Hendersonville for sure. Very friendly staff and yummy desserts. Love that they walk around handing out warm cookies in their dining room.
