We were on our way to the Performing Arts Center and had some time for a quick dinner. The wait time was just a few minutes and well worth stopping in for! The staff was very friendly, atmosphere was quiet and food was delicious! Forgot to take a photo of dessert because as soon as it was delivered we devoured it (salted caramel cheesecake).

    Blueberry cheesecake was magnificent!

We love this place! The staff is always amazing and super friendly. The food is just as wonderful as Seven Senses was. We come at least once a week. The soup is delicious, it's one of our go to favorites. The Bacon cheese Grit hush puppies are a must try! Blueberry cheesecake wow! You really cannot go wrong with anything you order. Love the patio area and the bar the most it's got a nice welcoming ambiance. But that's just me. What I prefer.

The service is usually very friendly - they have no problem joking around with you...no dry personalities reciting from corporate requirements, here. One particular occasion, we called a to-go order in and they had sold out of peaches and cream fried corn on the cobb (which is to die for). The sweetheart on the phone literally went to the Winn Dixie across the street and purchased some, so I could have it along with their fantastic, hand pattied burger. How do you ask for better service than that? You can't. Their chicken and dressing is excellent, the hoe cakes are straight out of my childhood and the catfish....the huge, plate covering pieces of delicious white meat (no slimy stuff in theirs...looking at you, chain restaurants) are my absolute favorite. We've always had overwhelmingly positive experiences at Christine's and can't wait to go back. We've been there when they're short staffed and I've had to resist the urge to ask if I can help them when I see them running around like crazy. Instead of griping when something isn't perfect, maybe figure out how you could help? It's not like they are expensive. We have no trouble grabbing our own extra napkins or going to them to ask for butter or a drink refill, ourselves. This has only happened 1-2x but cut them some slack. You're getting good food at a really good price - maybe don't be so high maintenance. Or, go to a Michelin rated restaurant, instead, if you want your every whim indulged, the moment you have it. As for us, we'll happily keep Christine's as one of our favorite local spots and return as often as possible.

It's my last night in Nashville so I want to go to a bang zoom restaurant. A few of my co workers have said to me: Mr Bill, we see every night you're going out to some amazing spots. Mind if we tag along? Sure, the rules are to keep your fork outta my plate when we sit down. Deal? The restaurant is very large, we're shown to our table. Set in the middle of the dining room and facing the bar. The bar can seat at least 25 people, the restaurant is set up for fun. To get our party started, I ordered a well crafted cocktail: Tea'd Up Old Fashioned Made with Bourbon, Black Tea and House Barrel Aged Bitters. Funky?? Oh yeah I'm with a bunch of Military Veterans and they're telling me their crazy stories. I'm sippin' my Old Fashioned and taking it all in, we need to bond over drinks and crazy things we all drank overseas. As an adult, I can appreciate my Nashville TN Old Fashioned with Black Tea. While we're talking, our waitress drops off a plate of homemade biscuits. The biscuits are fire! Buttery, flakey and moist, The Southern Steak & Oyster can make a damn good biscuit. Next, my Gumbo comes to me. The first taste I can tell this is a chef'd up dish. Better than anything I had in New Orleans. This gumbo is filled with Andouille, Crawfish, Shrimp and Fried Okra. Very flavorful indeed. My last entree in Nashville will be Fish 'N Grits. Fresh fish topped with Spicy Tasso Ham over Sweet Potato Grits and Bacon Braised Cabbage. This is a flavorful dish, the grits are very creamy and the cook on the fish was spot on. We had a great night at The Southern Steak & Oyster, it was a pleasure to dine at your restaurant.

Really good restaurant!…read more This place does elevated Southern cooking and does it well. The menu has plenty to choose from, whether you're in the mood for fried chicken, steak, salads, oysters, meatloaf, burgers, or ribs. We started with the crab cakes and the steak biscuits. I absolutely LOVED the steak biscuits, very tender steak on a light, fluffy biscuit. The crab cake was a touch too fishy for my taste, but the cheddar biscuits more than made up for it. Those things are to die for. For my main I got the ribs with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. The ribs were amazing and the mashed potatoes were just as good. The Brussels sprouts were really good too, I just wish they'd been a little crispier. Overall, a really good spot. Will definitely be back!

Our server Rachel was quick to greet us, friendly, and helpful. Brick walls, wood block sculptures, and old black and white photos of the town serve as decor, making the place very welcoming. A couple rounds of local beers started us and then we were off in earnest. The fried pickle spears were just as perfect as we remembered. Huge, hot, sour, and delicious, served with dijonaisse dipping sauce. Everything we ordered was delicious and each person at the table thought theirs was best. A smoked ham, cheese, and fig sandwich... cheese quesadillas... pork belly sliders... steak and mushroom wrap... all great. Our only disappointment was the gumbo. It tasted more like a bland bean soup. No seafood flavor and non existent seasonings, but even that wasn't enough to bring this place down. We cannot recommend highly enough!

Our server was great; one of the most friendly I've ever had. Sadly, that's about the only thing good I can say. It took 20-25 minutes for food to come out (and the restaurant was almost empty ??? why so long? ). The taco wrap was just plain pathetic. They need to hire someone who know how to prepare hispanic/Mex food. It was cold, cheese wasn't melted, and no seasonings. Just sad. Fried green tomatoes were greasy with a strange texture. Wife's meal was OK but nothing special. Sorry SS, go back to what was tried and true before you closed.

Sad to see, I'm not sure outside of the obvious recession if that is playing a part but the customers were there, however the complete lack of service was not. Went on a Saturday morning not long after they opened. All staff were wearing masks which eased our concerns about going out to celebrate. Fried Green Tomatoes are the BEST I've had in many, many years. Sliced perfectly with a cornmeal breading that was seasoned to perfection and fried to a wonderful crispness and drizzled with the chipotle crema. I could have eaten 2 plates of them and been thoroughly satisfied. However I also had the Bootlegger Chicken Fried, not hot, minus the lettuce and onion. Also very good no sauce, spreads or dressings needed--seasoned well. Hubby had the Duo Dip and the Stillhouse Farm Burger. I only tested the Duo Dip which was also amazing but his plate was empty from the burger so that tells me it was good. He also had a side of Pimento Mac and cheese bake--YUMMY!! Drinks-- Cos-Moon-Politan was amazing and not lacking in anything. Short Mountain Long Island also quite yummy but I like the cosmo better. Moonshine Brownie Trifle--just don't. No really YOU ABSOLUTELY SHOULD GET THIS!!! OMG!!! Excellent finish to the entire experience.
