It's been at least 30 years since we were last here (before kids and living in Queens). We liked it then, but now (kids grown up and living on Long Island) we love it. This time we were six at a round table (best for family fun). Other than two diet Cokers, the remaining four of us tried a red wine, Montepulciano, which was one of the half dozen wines suggested by our waiter (there was no wine list) and all of us agreed it was very good. Also happily surprising was was the size of the deep pours. There was a free bread basket and butter for the table with fresh baked long Italian bread and tasty focaccia (pizza bread). Our waiter ("Nick") told us the specials, appetizers and entrees (not on the menu), and we were impressed with how he remembered all of them and their ingredients. The specials were generally more expensive than what was on the menu. All of us ordered and enjoyed appetizers for the table, including calamari (squid), octopus, artichoke hearts (my favorite and have never seen it prepared and served that way), and what seemed like homemade minestrone soup (with Locatelli cheese sprinkles on the side ... I added it). Our entree orders varied as well, from baked garlic flavored half chicken, to eggplant rollatini, ziti a la vodka with chicken, branzino, etc. While the menu didn't say, all the entrees we ordered (some off the menu, others from the specials) came with a side vegetable. I had the broccoli with oil and garlic, others had the broccoli rabe. I was already too stuffed for dessert, but the bacchanalian foodies among us had the overstuffed cannoli and cake. We'll be back. There were just too many good choices on the menu to try in one sitting, even for six hungry adults. Yet there was so much food, that half of us walked out with doggie bags. read more

I've been wanting to come here for some time now it's just been busy with work . So today I decided to go there today with my #1 my daughter . When we arrived we parked in the large lot located across the street . It's in a nice clean and quiet neighborhood of Franklin Square . As we entered we were greeted immediately by the hostess . I was pleased to see it was casual but really warm and comforting ambiance and decor . Place looks clean and well maintained. As we sat we were given a nice bread basket served with butter on the side . Then our sever Nick came over he was very nice and very well spoken and very neat and clean looking. We ordered the mozzarella and tomato for appetizer. For main course I ordered the chicken rollatini and my daughter ordered the penne ala vodka with breaded chicken . The mozzarella tomato was fresh and delicious. We enjoyed that and added a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar to kick it up . When the entrees arrived shortly after we were impressed by the look and presentation of the dishes . My chicken was soft and stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella in a creamy mushroom Marsala sauce . My daughter loved her penne Ala vodka with chicken . She liked that the chicken was breaded but it wasn't fried in oil it was baked . All throughout our dining experience, we were checked on by our server, Neck, as well as a few other employees as they walked by. And then to finish, we asked for the Dessert menu in which someone came over and listed and explained all the desserts they had available. I don't remember the whole list but they had tiramisu chocolate cake, carrot cake gelato however, we decided to split a tartufo. The total bill, including a bottle of sparkling water came out to $97. I found the prices to be very reasonable and the portions were plenty. I would definitely go back and try the other dishes they have available overall between food and service. One of my favorite Italian restaurants on Long Island! The food is amazing and very reasonably priced. The service is also phenomenal and the staff is always so friendly. They have a lot of great food items on the menu, but my favorites are the baked clams and penne alla vodka. Although, I do recommend trying their daily specials because those are delicious too. Sometimes we'll come here just to sit at the bar and have a couple of drinks, which is always a fun time. They make the best french martinis here! Definitely a place you have to try! read more

When you first pull up of there's no parking you can park in the parking area next door but you'll have to drive around the block since it's a one way street. When walking through the entrance doors you don't know what to expect and the Vwallah at last. The made great use of the space, a lot of seating but no one is on top of one another or in ear shot of each other. The music is playing loud enough for you to hear it but low enough for a conversation. Our waiter Mike was a smooth operator lol very well groomed and gave suggestions on what we should try, each of the staff members were accommodating so applause to them as well. I had the porcini mushroom ravioli and even though the plate doesn't have much color the flavors make up for with every bite, even the table bread was good. Mozzarella sticks were fresh and not dowsed in salt. The only complaint was my Shirley temple it was all temple no Shirley lol but that's alright everything else was a 5 out of 5. read more

This place is so good forgot to take a pic of my food at the beginning of the meal! The homemade bread and homemade fresh mozzarella are game changers. You think to yourself "there's no way it can get better" oh but it does. The entrees are incredible. Everything is so fresh and homemade. Love the vibes here too. Had my birthday party last week. Mario was amazing our waiter Joe never let anyone want for anything. The place is beautiful. The appetizers were off the charts delish. The penne a la vodka was delicious. Every entree was got fab reviews. The only entree that I got so-so reviews was the veal Marsala. Everything else everyone raved about. I really don't know where to start, so I'll start at the beginning. We decided to give this place a try as we are tired of most of the Italian places where we live in westchester. They're fine, but never knock our socks off. Our friend told us about this place and offered to make a reservation, so we ventured out to Long Island to give it a try on a rainy night. After finally arriving 57 min later, I stated "never doing this again". That was a lie. I'll make this trek over and over, for as long as they're in business. We walked in and we're greeted warmly by the hosts, who introduced themselves to us. "How sweet'" I thought, then we went to have drinks at the bar even though our table was ready and we were 30 min early. We enjoyed delicious cocktails made by the sweetest, friendliest bartender Violetta, who seems to know exactly what to make for us with few prompts (there is no drink menu). The cocktails had a kick, but the kind that sneaks up on you because they're so well crafted that you don't really taste the alcohol, just the flavor. After the first round, I asked if she could make a chocolate martini and then said maybe I'll have it for dessert when she said yes. We chatted with Violetta, who was somehow able to hold a conversation with us while keeping an eye on every patron at the bar, making cocktails for other patrons and for the wait staff. Wow! We then met the other bartender Glen, a big friendly guy who introduced himself to us and chatted away. That's one of the best takeaways about Filomena's. From the time we arrived, we were welcomed like honored guests at a great party that everyone is excited to attend. Not only is the staff friendly, they genuinely appear to enjoy working there and working with each other. After drinks we were led to a generous booth, even though we were just two and the restaurant was at capacity. Almost expected a VIP rope. We met our waiter Nick, who was a delightful blend of friendly, professional efficiency, eagle eyed management and cool guy you'd want to hang out with wrapped up into one. We chose our appetizers, the polpo (warm, perfectly cooked til tender with a bit of crisp on the edges) the fresh mozzarella (with added prosciutto, roasted peppers and cherry tomatoes at Nick's suggestion, delish!) and the broccoli rabe and sausage egg rolls (Our favorite! Perfectly seasoned, crispy, with a little mozzerella and served with a sauce that reminds me of the sauce on chicken scarpariello. Epic!) We then ordered our entrees from the extensive list that Nick had to recite twice because I couldn't process everything. Our appetizers came out quickly and then when we were finished, our waiter offered to give us a minute to recover before putting our entrees in. The staff here is so professional, they anticipate every detail. Even the busboy, who saw the apps that we had wrapped sitting on the table, brought a plastic bag and with the most graceful almost imperceptible movement swooped them into the bag and returned them to the table and just like that he was gone in a blink. Our entrees arrived and did not disappoint. I went with the lamb chops, 4 large prime, perfectly med rare, with delicious roasted potatoes and hubby ordered the short rib with gnocchi and 2 delicious meatballs. The short rib was fall apart tender with a sauce that had the perfect level of richness to flavor balance and since the portions are beyond generous, we have dinner for the next day. The chef definitely knows what he's doing! The truth is that between our appetizers and dinner, we were already texting friends photos of the apps and planning future visits to this place, it was that good! Another great thing I noticed was the way the busboys take the coffee and dessert orders. These young men are learning from the masters on how to offer fantastic service from the start. Kudos to the owner, setting everyone up for success. Now comes my favorite part. We finished coffee and dessert, the pistachio tartufo, simple and perfect for the end of a too large meal. We went to the bar where Violetta remembered that I wanted a chocolate martini for dessert and had one whipped up with barely a word from me. This speaks volumes about the thoughtfulness of the staff. It's the little things and all of the little things at Filomena's add up to a great thing. read more

This restaurant has been around for a very long time. They know what they're doing. Excellent service with delicious Italian food. I ate penne alla vodka with chicken cutlet. I also got a side of broccoli. For dessert, a loaded cannoli. If you're looking for dinner before an event at the nearby UBS arena, then this is your place. Parking is in the rear. A great Italian restaurant with fast & friendly service. We started with the calamari which was delicious and not overly breaded. They gave so much that the two of us could barely finish it (but we did of course). I got the eggplant rollatini which was light and tasty. It came with a side of pasta or veggies and I went with the penne which was amazing. My friend got the lobster ravioli which was a really large portion and absolutely delicious. They weren't cheap with the lobster filling & the raviolis were really big. Can't forget to mention the complimentary bread which included Italian bread and a delicious garlic bread. They also have a long list of daily specials that aren't on the menu but sounded good. You can tell this is a family restaurant and a staple to the community because every time someone walked in they were greeted by the owners and waiters like they all knew each other.
