A hidden gem I wish I had found sooner. My daughter and I came in for a solo date and wanted to grab a quick coffee before our Color Me Mine date. So many options and everything looked delicious, the empanada I got was phenomenal, her muffin was moist and made me want to try the other flavors. While we waited in line a regular handed us a $5 gift card and wished us both a great day. Truly made the experience even more special. I've heard so many good reviews about this restaurant, and though I ever visited in person, while at work this morning we did a door dash order. We ordered some ice coffees, and a few chicken empanadas. First impression was, messy. The coffee lid was cracked a bit, so it was dripping out. It was no big deal for me, moved on to the empanadas, which had a very strong meaty smell to it, which made me feel like the meat was not properly cleaned before being cooked/ prepared for cooking. Took my first bite, and immediately thought to myself, "did I order a fish empanada" because what I thought I was chewing on a fish bone, it was a zip tie plastic. This is my second time coming to Filomena's and again, it was a positive experience. The first time was with my little family on the weekend and now I'm on my own on a weekday. The ambiance is cozy,quaint and their playlist is enjoyable. The music is not too loud just right to have a conversation or work. I ordered a guava and cheese tequeño with a vanilla latte. I saw this place and decided to stop in for a iced matcha. They had a specialty matcha drink on the menu that I wanted to try. It only came frozen or hot so I decided not to get it. I went to Filomena on a rainy Sunday morning for a pick me up coffee. Inside was packed with people on laptops. This could be a great spot for remote workers and school children. Lots of parking. A few tables outside which are covered. The indoor space had an 80's vibe with music and artwork. They also had a stage where local bands can play. I felt very comfortable and they don't rush you at all. Dog friendly. Pup cups were a hit! I'd love to see this place host poetry nights or other creative events because with the stage area it is very inviting and relaxing. Great local spot! read more

I loved the space--welcoming and clean. We noticed they have an area for live music, which is a nice touch, and I'll definitely return to check that out. We visited on a Saturday morning, and it wasn't too busy. An older gentleman greeted us and gave us a $5 gift card. I don't think he worked there, but his gesture was very kind, especially since it was our first time! They had a great selection of pastries, so we decided to try the dulce de leche croissant, pan de bono, cheese pastry, and spinach and cheese empanada (which was the only item we didn't enjoy). I also opted for a frappe since we were heading to an outdoor soccer game and wanted something refreshing. Unfortunately, it was very thick, almost like a milkshake, which wasn't quite what I expected from a frappe. This place is a must go to those that are looking for a nice cute little coffee shop that serves up great coffee with amazing food. We stopped here last week since we were in the area and it's become one of my favorite cafe places in broward. We tried their carpese opera sandwich and their grilled chicken sandwich and it was delicious. The quality of food they give you for the price is unbelievable. Their coffee was great as well. I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking to get coffee to study or a quick lunch. They even decorated the inside for Halloween, 10/10 restaurant. Walked in for first time and great relaxing atmosphere with couches and little tables. A section set up for live local entertainment. The three baristas were friendly. Withing a few minutes a group of 20 Ferrari car club customers entered and engulfed the place. The large wall menu and food display was great and simple. We ordered coffee and egg bagels were ready in under ten minutes. Very good coffee and food. You could smell the scent of fresh coffee eminating throughout the place. The decor had a very cool vibe with 80s retro rock videos playing on a large monitor which was perfect. I was really impressed with the place and will return again. Cute coffee house. They have a large selection of coffees and teas, plus sandwiches, salads, empanadas and pastries. Service is a bit slow, but the atmosphere is nice and welcoming. Good amount of tables plus a couple of couches, and they have a couple of large TVs showing music videos with a nice sound system. But it was very underwhelming :( The espresso flavor was very watery and didn't have much of any taste. The honey was the strongest flavor but was overly sweet and overpowering. It was not terrible just not my favorite. I would be willing to try coming here again because maybe it was just this specific drink that wasn't my favorite. The ambiance was very nice and relaxing. The service was okay. I asked the cashier what they recommended or what most people get and they couldn't come with any recommendations which would have been helpful to me. It was Easter Sunday. I did not want to be home for the life of me. I had some work to do and just much preferred to be in a coffee shop. I checked my bookmarks and began to call around. Filomena's was the second coffee shop I called. The woman on the phone was pleasant, letting me know they were indeed open on Easter Sunday and for regular hours to boot. I packed my bag and off I went. Seems quite a few people had the same idea I did. A couple of women were studying at the coffee shop when I arrived, and some families, too, were having conversations over coffee and breakfast. In the middle of the room was a stage surprisingly. I guess they have shows? Cool! Anyway, I took my time and wound up ordering two empanadas, a chicken and a spinach one, as well as their largest hot s'mores cappuccino. They asked me if I wanted it in a to-go cup or a mug, but given my idea to plant myself there and do some work (which I happily completed to anyone who is interested), I chose the mug. The coffee came out first and it was a beauty. I drank it sip after sip, and well, the more I got to the bottom of it, the sweeter it became. I wound up leaving like a tenth of the coffee. I would recommend this coffee as a sweet treat mostly, not an everyday drink. As for the empanadas, I had them heated, and I, for once, preferred the chicken one to the spinach one. The spinach one, while tasty, just had too much garlic. Unfathomable as I've been known to sprinkle a bit too much garlic on my pasta here and there, but this snuck up on me and was overpowering. I am grateful I had the chicken empanada to help balance it out. I should mention that this is a matter of personal preference. I finished both empanadas just fine. I just don't think I could only have a spinach empanada. I would be scaring Dracula off all day (well, actually night). They have a lot of coffee and food options. I really wanted to try one of their sweeter pastries, like their Nutella croissant, but I couldn't justify it with the huge s'mores cappuccino I had. All that said, I regret nothing and intend on returning to get more work done. I was ridiculously productive, and unlike my preferred coffee shop up in Deerfield Beach, this one isn't isn't insanely full of people yet. read more

The chai latte is on the sweeter side which isn't a problem for me since I love sweet but for some, they may prefer it otherwise. I've been wanting to check out this café for quite some time. It's very clean and inviting. I love that they have a few comfy couches to sit on. I enjoyed an organic Matcha with almond milk, which I don't think I've ever had. It was delicious and kept me running all day. The almond croissant was a little on the dry side but it would not stop me from ordering it again. They had a cute little sign at a table that said please take one, it had Mardi Gras masks. I grabbed one for my daughter, that was very sweet. I will definitely return. I like the music choice as well and I see that they have a little entertainment area. How did I not know about Filomena's sooner? This coffee shop in Davie is an ideal spot to grab some coffee/matcha & a bite with reliable wifi. They have a ton of seating with ample outlets nearby and has actually been one of my favorite spots to get some work done. I've been here twice and both times I was able to get something off of their Halloween specials menu- the Frankenstein Matcha Latte: matcha tea, shot of espresso, vanilla spice, oat milk w/ Monster powder foam. Of course, I got it without the espresso because I don't have much of a tolerance for caffeine these days but it was still great! The perfect amount of matcha and the vanilla spice offered that Halloween/Fall taste. You can get their drinks either cold or hot but just know that if you get it cold, it only comes in one size, which I don't mind! For bites, I only tried their croissant sandwich and it was pretty good. The service was friendly and my food and drinks always come out fast. They have an area where it looks like they have performances and open mic nights. Hopefully I can experience that one of these days! read more

Just to be on the up and up, I did not check in this morning as I came here for a quick cup and a muffin before i went to work. ( I was late for work but that was on me.) I ordered a chocolate muffin and a small Cappucino which Iwas very excited to have since I do not get either often. Being late for work I got in my car, and got on to 595 to try and minimize my tardiness. The muffin was soggy as they put it in a steamer to warm it up. WHY? The thing that really angered me was the steamed half and half was sour!!!! I couldn't spit it out as I was driving my car and the only alternative was to swallow it! Shouldn't the milk creamer and half and half be checked every morning before serving the customers! read more

Avid Cafe goer and I am here on a late Saturday morning. It's not busy or filled with people and I was able to walk right up to the counter and place my order. It took a minute for the staff to acknowledge me due to them having a group conversation. These have to be teenagers or young 20s that are working the counter and while I was observing, they are more interested in their personal conversation then making sure they complete orders. I watched them all stop what they were doing to chat. When I stated that I told the girl I wanted an iced matcha with the syrups and milk alternative she was too busy trying to get back into the conversation she was having to correctly place my order. I ordered a drink that is served either hot or cold but I thought it was served only cold, either way she didn't ask me which one I wanted so they had to remake it iced. Before they remade it, the other kid went a grabbed the ticket to show me I ordered it hot. In the service industry for 13 years. If you're going to have kids running the shop, make sure they're able to navigate certain situations and provide excellent customer service. It's a lovely shop that plays nice music but I won't be returning. I have a video of them doing this for management to see but I don't want put minors on here. read more

This coffee house is nothing like the ones I've seen in south Florida so far. They offer many pastries , breakfast, lunch and coffee options. The prices are average for the area and other coffee shops. The thing that is different about this place is that they are focused on music and local talent. They have art displays on their walls of musicians like Whitney Houston, lady Gaga and play all the classics. It's a nice change compared to the other coffee places. They also have live performers musicians and comedians on certain days. The service was very good , this is going to be my new go to. Starbucks is over. read more

I tried this place a couple times to give the coffee a shot (pun intended). Ambiance is to me a typical coffee shop. There's a stage for entertainment; although I've only been here during the day. This place has a pastry case with a variety of pastries including sweet and savory. Now onto the coffee because after all this is a coffee place. I will preface with I search out small, unique coffee shops because the coffee is typically just better than a particular chain that rhymes with Tarbux. I must say if my visits I tried a honey iced latte. It would've been ok, except the coffee itself was really bitter. The 2nd time I got a s'mores mocha. And again bitter coffee. Even with those sweeteners, the roasting style on the coffee for me was to be desired. I feel there is a better place to spend your money on coffee than here.
