Salmon Avocado Toast and Iced Latte
    Jocelyn A.

The place is cute! It is nice and clean. It is good spot to set up and spend some time there. However, I didn't think the food was worth it. I got the Salmon Avocado Toast (salmon, cream cheese, smashed avocado, and capers on a piece of bread). The food tasted alright, but to pay almost $12 for what I got was a little absurd. The iced coffee was good but nothing special. The service was average too. Parking is easy since the place is a part of an outside mall. I would consider going again, but I won't go out of my way for it.

    Cinnamon bun flavored latte

I came in here around noon on a Thursday and it was absolutely PACKED. Every seat taken and very loud. My party and I got lattes and you're able to pick your milk of choice and flavor. We got an iced cinnamon bun and a dulce de leche latte, both with oat milk. They were both made very quickly considering how many people there were there. The dulce de leche was very good, but the cinnamon bun flavor was not. The way I would describe it is it's as if you didn't just taste or smell a cinnamon candle, but took a complete mouthful of one. It was a very artificial cinnamon flavor that was honestly horrible. I'd definitely come back, though, and try some of their other flavors and food.

An absolutely awesome and cute little Cafe right in Plantation. I've driven past it many times but I'm so glad that I was decided to finally stop here one morning I had nothing to do. The staff was very friendly and greeted me as soon as the doors opened and asked us to give them a few moments because they were cranking away at orders currently. A couple moments later I was able to place my order and I decided to get the Cafe Au Lait. My wife got the Mocha Latte. A few minutes later our drinks were ready. The Cafe Au Lait was so refreshing. It had the perfect amount of milk in it and the coffee was incredibly smooth. There was a nice amount of ice and it didn't water the drink down in any way, even with me taking my time savoring the drink. The Mocha latte was really good and had the right amount of sweetness to it without being too overpowering with choclate flavoring. Prices are very reasonable here and if you want an iced drink for any of them, it is an automatic large with no way of getting a smaller size. The place was very pretty and I liked the different portraits on the wall of different locations around the world that the drinks were designed and made after. I will definitely be back due to everything here being wonderful!

    ALASKA HELENA'S SPECIAL
    Daren R.

The scent of freshly ground beans mixed with the sweet tang of baked pastries, creating an almost comforting aroma that wrapped around you as soon as you entered. There was a hum to the place - quiet conversations blending with the hiss of steam from the espresso machine, the clink of ceramic mugs, and the rhythmic tapping of laptops and notebooks created a classic coffee house vibe. I met with the friendly chatty barista, Andrea, who added a personal touch to my overall experience. Ordered the Alaskan Helena's Special for $10.35, which consisted of a wheat bagel with smoked salmon (lox) and cream cheese which was ready within five minutes. I am a lox connoisseur and was pleasantly delighted by the freshness of the fish with the scent of a wheat bagel. They offer many pastry items, coffees, teas, smoothies and milkshakes in addition to light brunch type eats. The bathroom was spotless boasting cool light blue paint and light brown wooden flooring. Definitely will return for a taste of some of their other eats.

    Mexican Wrap

We had the Rome wrap, the Mexican wrap, and two mango smoothies. The wraps were good and had plenty of filling. The mango smoothies tasted good also and were refreshing, though more juice-like in consistency than the smoothies we're used to. Nice atmosphere and seating options.

Helena's Coffee is a great spot for food, snacks like pastries, coffee, and more in Plantation. I'm always on the hunt for a space to work from with wifi! This time, I was in the Plantation area and, after a quick search on Yelp, I found Helena's. It's a cute lil coffee shop with a good amount of seating, perfect to work from or even catch up with a friend. It was clean and super easy to order from the register, but I warn you, you'll be tempted by the pastry case & display. I had to grab some empanadas, banana muffin, and a mini alfajor. For drinks, we got an iced matcha latte (of course) and one of the iced tea drinks. Something to note- the iced drinks only come in one size which is the larger one. Now I typically can't even finish a small matcha drink but this one was so good, I finished it by the end of the day! I only added macadamia milk (another plus to them for carrying this milk) but it was the perfect amount of sweet. The space itself was so ideal to work from. Comfortable seating and tables, plus nice light that streams from outside on a sunny day. I'm excited to come back the next time I'm in the area and might need a place to work from.

I absolutely love coming to Helena's. Not only do they go all out decorating for each major holiday, they are extremely pet-friendly. I usually bring my dog and get a latte, tequeño, and a pan de bono. I've also branched out and tried a croissant sandwich freshly made with turkey and swiss, which was very reasonably priced at $6 and change. I am grateful for the welcoming atmosphere and team!

I love this spot! Great place to work remotely and the workers are kind. Good variety of drinks and food and love the Halloween decorations!

I didn't even know about this place until Marilu F. suggested it. A quaint little coffee shop that knows how to treat customers well. We found a cozy corner to settle in and waited for our food I ordered a medium coffee and it was huge. Everything about it was perfect. The spinach empanada was wonderful too. I can see why they are a favorite here. It was fresh and had lots of spinach. This is a great spot and I will be stopping in again when I'm in the area. The service was excellent. We got to chat and enjoy the afternoon with no rush.

When traveling, my first objective is to locate a small business / local coffee shop vs. patronizing coffee chains. Thanks to Yelp friends, I narrowed it down to a few and was glad to visit Helena. Their espresso and coffee selection was great - plus the pastry case looked delectable! The team was friendly and welcoming. I got an iced cappuccino, perfect for a refreshing energy kick in the Florida heat. I enjoy tasting my actual espresso - not sugar - and this was perfectly balanced. My only complaint is I tried to go back before heading to the airport but they weren't open yet. I highly considered running late for my flight for this coffee, but I'll be back :)

    Food on display.

Ally's comfort Café has been a staple in Northwest Davie forever. *Now, Ally, moved away a little while ago and new owners took over. They kept the same recipes which made us hopeful that things would pretty much remain the same. But little by little all of the staff that had been there for years started leaving. I think there's only a couple of the longtime staff left. We'll get back to the staff in a moment. My wife and I go to Ally's every Saturday morning. We go there have a great breakfast and then go to the Publix next-door to do our weekly shopping. There's obviously going to be hiccups when new owners take over a restaurant. We totally understand this. But some things are just not improving. They open at 8 AM on Saturdays. But, between 8 and 9 AM there's only one waitress and one bus boy this didn't always used to be the case. They used to have the full staff and someone at the door to take names. He would also help out by getting you drinks or more coffee if you needed it. It worked really well for the small family restaurant. The new owners took over and at some point they decided they only needed limited staff between 8 and 9 AM on Saturdays. And of course, every Saturday my wife and I go in there. It gets packed and the waitress is running around like her head is cut off and the busboy is overwhelmed. This isn't a one time thing it has been constant since they made the staffing change. It's completely unfair to the waitress and busboy and it's also a complete turn off to patrons who have to wait sometimes up to 10 or 15 minutes just for the poor waitress to come and take their order this morning. A couple waited 20 minutes before their order was taken. Also, the owner/manager doesn't get there until almost 9 herself, which means there's no management in the restaurant to help with the register or put out "fires." It. Is. Not. Working. Ally's has been known for their specials for years. They always have amazing special pancakes and special French toast. It's one of the main reasons we still go there. It's our little weekly treat. Lately the specials have been very monotonous. Some sort of jelly put on some French toast or some sort of cream put on a pancake. Not real imaginative for instance, today was banana cream and chocolate pancakes. It was a dollop of banana cream on a chocolate pancake that had little taste. One could've added some fresh bananas, or maybe some whipped cream on top of that. Meanwhile, the special pancakes and special French toast are often made wrong by the staff. This happened this morning. It took them twice to get the pancakes right and three times to get the French toast, right. Again, this is not a one time occur occurrence. We never complain. But we were surprised to still see those items on the bill and not discounted at all, but that's OK. The thing that really drove me to write this review, is that I waited for more than 10 minutes to speak to the owner/manager on our way out. I thought the best way to handle our dissatisfaction would be to speak to her personally. She disappeared into the kitchen, and even after the waitress went to tell her we were waiting to speak with her, she was nowhere to be found. No I understand things come up in the kitchen, but she could've at least came out and said hey I know you're here, I'm dealing with a problem, I'll be right back. But we waited and waited and waited and nothing despite all of the above, that's what irked me the most. I will say this. The food is still very good. And the waitresses and buses are amazing. None of this is their fault. They should all be paid more in dealing with a kitchen that can't get right and an owner that can't seem to figure out good customer service. We will certainly give them another chance, it's part of our routine. But after biting my tongue, I had to let everyone know what was happening at one of our favorite spots in Broward County.
