Absolute best fish tacos on island. So good that we came here twice in 1 week. They give you nice thick pieces of local caught grilled fish with lots of cabbage, pico and sauce. When you dine in, they give you cute little squeeze bottles of red and green sauce. We enjoyed the red sauce more since it was a bit spicier!

This place has a one of a kind vibe on the island, channeling their Mexican culture through the music and decor. We like their fish tacos and birria tacos. They give an abundance of cabbage with their tacos which I enjoy, and they give you 2 different bottles of hot sauce (red and green), we both enjoyed the red more as it was spicier with good flavor. We first tried this place last year and we make it a point to come here at least once when we're on island. We ate here twice during our week long stay. The first time we came, a nice guy was working who generously gave me the broth to try that comes with another birria menu item and it was delicious. We look forward to trying their burritos and burrito bowls when we are back next year for our 5th annual trip!

My wife and I have been coming here since they were a food truck and always supported you guys. I always tip 15-20% even though its counter service because I want them to succeed. I go here at least 3-4 times a month and never had an issue. I never complain about the pricing because I enjoy the food and normally the counter service is good. But today the girl made me pay $1.50 for a side of salsa when she barely gave me any for my order!!! After I tipped $15 bucks for counter service!!!! Absolutely crazy. I have never seen her there before but I can promise we will never go back because of this. Since when does salsa cost $1.50? Especially with pricing like this and you give skimpy salsa portions with your food. Yall have never done that in all the years I have been coming here!!! Look at the picture of the salsa she gave us and then charged me when I went back in and asked for more. I bought dinner for 3 people and she gave me 1/4 filled cups of 4 red and 5 green. Yall just lost a loyal customer who tips every time and gives your spot $300-400 per month for years now. Im blown away how she treated me at the register today. Hope it was worth it for a dollar fifty. Will update if someone in that places acts like they give a damn and reaches out. That is super disappointing.

Best service on the island! The food was served quickly and with care. We ordered Birria Tacos along with Agua de Mango, and THEY WERE GOOD! Portions are great, and the quality as well. The Agua Fresca was especially good; the great size and flavor were spot on. I personally like the modern style of the restaurant, which gives a nice atmosphere and ambience.

Fillo's is a taco shop housed in a nondescript building amongst other businesses. There tacos are more like "street tacos". I found both the birra taco and roasted pork were delicious. There were some fresh juices as well. You can make the tacos a platter with refried beans and rice. Staff were super pleasant. There shop has made an effort to add a vibe with some artwork.

Decent Mexican - Birria tacos are tasty - Quick service Good spot if you need something quick - our order was ready in less than ten minutes. We ordered the carne asada burrito, Birria taco, and pork taco. The a la carte does not come with the consume so make sure to get a side of the sauce! Decent food overall. I thought the food was missing a little something, they brought out a spicy and a verde sauce that considerably improved the dishes

Oh my gosh! We went here on a whim and got fish nachos and two shrimp burritos. Everything was so amazing and we wish we had one of these in our hometown! Great flavor, fresh food, fast service! The location was also clean!

Came in to grab some fish tacos to bring to the beach. Service was not very friendly. Food took a long time but that was expected due to the sign that mentioned that when we ordered. Fish tacos were very tasty with a splash of lime! Ordered a carnitas burrito bowl as well and that was huge and good!

Someone recommended this taco truck and it was the best Mexican on the island! Don't waste any time with taco trucks anywhere else. We had the fish tacos, shrimp tacos, Birria tacos. Just got tacos ala carte. And lastly the surf and turf burrito- don't get with beans - steak was tender. Beans are good there- but to taste the purity of the surf and turf you don't wants beans to over power. Lastly get the consume for the Birria and taste the consume on its own- you can taste the complexity. We are from California and know good Mexican food- don't be tempted by the other food trucks on way. Can't say enough! read more

Every time I visit Kauai I always make a stop at the best tacos on the island, Birria Taco Plate is where it's at, My wife got the shrimp tacos which were good but when she tried my birria tacos game over, she didn't want to give them back. There are so many tacos places to eat on Kauai but if you want something affordable and amazing then Fillo's is a must. read more

This $16 fish burrito was more beans and rice than fish. It's also about the size of my beer can.... 12oz not 16oz. It tasted good thankfully, but don't expect much food or aloha for you money. I live in the neighborhood and have tried it a few times and it's disappointing. I hope they improve soon. read more

We were tired and hungry after a long day traveling to Kauai. We saw this food truck on the way to our hotel with many people waiting for their orders. It did not disappoint. They were very busy so it took a whole to get our orders. I had the garlic grilled shrimp tacos plate and my wife had the Al Pastor burrito. Both were very good and we finished it all. Food was great! Shrimp tacos were delicious! My husband had the surf and turf burrito and my son had the carna asada nachos. There was a wait (that tells you it's popular and well worth the wait). Ambiance has tables and not much of decor, but the food was great! We thought it was a food truck but they have a location inside a strip mall with limited seating. 6 tables or so, so come and get your table! read more

Food wasn't great for the price of it. The ONE taco I had was almost $7 and tasted like nothing. The tables were sticky and dirty. Paid $40 for 2 ala cart tacos and a burrito. TOTAL rip-off! And because we did a to-go order we asked for sauces on the side. She gave us 2 of each. I'm sorry but really?? I went back and asked for more and she gave me two more lol. $7 for a taco and I can't get a little bit more sauce?? And to not to mention no napkins either... Fillo's should've stuck to their food truck scene. They were far more generous and WAY better quality. Disappointed. read more

Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen in the Bay Area so I've had quite a few different types of tacos. I just had the Birria and "Catch of the day" which was Mahi Mahi and they were both wildly good. Granted, I was hungry, but these hit!! The rice and beans helped carry the meal to the finish sealing that fifth star. It wasn't exactly service with a smile but also not rude. (there was a very loud family in there, which annoyed me so I know the lady at the register had to be since they were already there when I arrived. ) If you're looking for a meal (I only had the tacos and rice/beans) that is very good that you could either eat on site or take with you that also won't break the bank, I highly recommend the spot ! * I inhaled this without a chance of a picture so sorry. read more

Mexican food is my absolute favorite so when I heard about this place I had to try it out ! The food is SPOT ON, super flavorful super delicious and very filling ! Pork belly tacos were excellent with a nice crunch to the meat, steak nachos were just ok, cochinita tacos were pretty good, and the birria fries were good. The service was typical for Kauai friendly and helpful. They did get pretty busy at 5pm on a Thursday so I would recommend calling in your order! Overall the food was good and the service was great, we will definitely return next time in Kauai! read more

We went for dinner here! Great place and amazing tacos! We had the shrimp tacos and a side of french fries to munch on and everything was phenomenal. The staff is super friendly but be ready to wait! The lines are long and as they cook to order so it might take sometime for your food to come out but trust me its worth the wait! read more

Hands down, the Best Taco Shop on Kauai! I'm from San Diego and their Queso Birria Tacos with consommé are legit. Carne Asada Tacos need guacamole, but you can order a side of that. Service could be better, taking into consideration that they are short staffed, like a lot of other places. Just got to be patient. The place is nice and clean, which is a plus compared to other restaurants. Will definitely be eating here again! read more

We found Fillo's randomly from Google's "Top Rated" on the map, looking for somewhere in between the North and South shore in Wailua. They had a good variety for those who are looking for both seafood and/or meat. Fish tacos were a hit, as was the queso birria (unfortunately they were out of the Cochinita Pibil when we got there, which they said was the most popular.) I personally could have done without the rice and beans. Rice wasn't that flavorful and beans didn't add much - would probably do a la carte next time. Good mix from the mountains of poke we had been eating throughout the trip! read more

Truly great Mexican food at a reasonable price (for Kauai). I'd come back here all the time if we lived on the island. We had the birria nachos and a taco plate with pork belly and cochinita and both were really excellent. The owner is super nice and the staff are friendly. The service was quick and personable. We ate here for lunch today after reading countless 5 star reviews, and I've got to say this spot EXCEEDED our expectations! I am a Mexican food LOVER, and my birria taco plate was TO DIE FOR, and so were the carne asada tacos. Whatever is in the green salsa, is also beyond incredible--If I could've taken the whole bottle home with me, I would have. We are only in town for 4 days, but after our experience, we will definitely be back again before we leave. This place is an absolute MUST TRY! Service was quick, extremely friendly, and food was the best thing we've eaten in Hawaii, by FAR. Love love love this cute little spot! read more

Really good tacos. Was one of the few places open after getting settled into our rental and so glad we found this place. My wife had the Al Pastor tacos and I had the fish. Food was fresh and quite a lot of meat in the tacos. Not used to that for smaller street style tacos. All of it was full of flavor. read more

Very good food. Picked up fish tacos. I liked it better than Da Crack fish tacos. This comes with a couple of sauces and one already on it. Very interesting flavors going on. Fairly new so not as many reviews and we took a chance by picking up here. But enjoyed it a lot. Very underrated. read more

Picked up the shrimp tacos and they were delicious. The refried beans had to be the best I have ever had. If you like spicy, ask for samples of their hot sauces. The food is worth the trip and very reasonable prices. read more

We are tourists from California of Mexican decent, so we are not easily pleased with any Mexican food. This is as authentic as it gets. The kids ordered Al Pastor tacos and they were literally fighting over the meat! The Quesibirria tacos and the consume were delicious. The husband ordered the fish taco and chile Verde burrito. Both impressed him. The salsas were delicious. If you like spicy, ask them for the special hot salsa. It burns but still has flavor. The watermelon Agua Fresca did not disappoint. Give this place a shot. It's amazing! read more

I love Mexican food it's my comfort food, but what I tried yesterday was anything but authentic. where to start I arrive at Kauai and was told about this place so me and my buddies tried. It doesn't come close to the hype. We came yesterday 12/21/21 @ 5:00 pm and there no line so we thought it would be quick but no we had to wait for the person to take our order who was on her phone on the front of the truck I mean let's be more profesional. Then the they way the girl was explaining the menu was confusing something about side or no sides, I just wanted a taco. Now on to the food for someone to claim that this authentic Mexican food the tortilla is store bought I can tell, the rice and beans was cold. I also ask for salsa and cashier wanted to charge me. I give the food a 3 but service was 1. The person giving my order look more interested in there phone than giving customer service. But hey what can you expect from a food truck lesson learn. read more

I usually love this place but today was terrible. The cashier was unfriendly and very rude. Food was cold by the time I got it cause the cashier just let it sit there rather than call out the customer. And was shorted charge of dollar, yes I know it's a small thing but it's the principal giving right change is common sense. And I had to repeat my order at least 3 times. I think imma give them a break and not go I don't know if it's because they are getting to comfortable and expect me to just come cause I'm one of there regulars but I was dissatisfied today. read more

I'm not one to write reviews but after eating these tacos I had to ! The birria tacos were out if this world everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. The shrimp tacos were insane, Packed with garlic flavor and cooked to perfection and as the garlic shrimp Legend her self I'm the one to beat for garlic shrimp. There are a lot of 5 star restaurants on Kauai. When it comes to Mexican food there are some worth patronizing, Fillo's on the south side of Kapaa is different. Fillo's serves, by a mile, the best Mexican food on Kauai. Get in line. read more
