This use to be my favorite nail shop when I lived locally. Was in town visiting and was excited to return.... However, I felt like my service was rushed and it was just ok. My cuticles were barely touched and I was barely exfoliated. If you don't want the most basic service, the next level pedicure was $78. That's crazy. Bummer! read more

I did indeed go to a different salon, and then tried to come back here, and I sure wish I hadn't. I had a hard gel fill here on 3/29, and all was fine. I went in again for a hard gel fill on 4/19 and asked for a milky French, and was given what is in the photo. It was lumpy and uneven. Later that day, I noticed space on the side between the gel and my nail on my right pointer. I went back that same day, and the same tech repaired it- I asked her to remove the gel and redo it, and she did. The next day I noticed the same thing on the tip of my left pointer- my hair was getting stuck. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I sent a message via Instagram and the owner offered to repair it that evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She did so by just filing off my natural nail underneath she then did a color change since the original French was so bad, which I appreciated. Less than a week later, the nail she repaired broke off. Probably because the natural nail underneath was filed away, so it was just a shelf of hard gel. At that point I had spent 3+ hours at the salon across three different trips, and I was done. I wrote via Instagram and asked for a refund. In doing so, I checked what I had been charged, and noticed I was charged $83. The fill is listed as $60, and French tips as $15, so I was overcharged. (I tipped $15 separately, they asked me not to tip on the card). I repeatedly brought this up and the owner claimed it was for the repairs, and she does not offer refunds on completed services. How was I charged for repairs that you didn't know you were going to make? It doesn't make sense. It's obvious there was a mistake made. Third visit they were prompt but did a rushed and very sloppy job with uneven filing and sloppy polish. Most recently, they did a very nice job with the filing and polish, but the tips of my French manicure are a gross yellow shade (lighting inside was weird and it looked normal). I got a combo mani/pedi with regular nail polish and left with a cut on my finger from the nail file and uneven/thick nail polish I felt like the file was burning me as I was getting them done but didn't realize there was an actual cut until I used hand sanitizer after the appointment. The staff was nice, but I'm not sure if I would come back to get my nails done using regular nail polish in fear of getting cut with a nail file or leaving with thick polish. read more

I got a great pedicure from one person and a gel manicure from another. The pedicure was great! But the gel manicure is another story. She was super rushed, didn't let the gel cure after I kept telling her the UV machine kept turning off, did a bad chrome application (bumpy), and didn't clean up the gel around my cuticles because she was late for her ride, which has led to my gel peeling starting off within a couple days. Whether it be a manicure, gel mani, apres gel-x, 10 finger design... its all been so great and exactly what I'm looking for and at a fair price. Lo Ann and Trinh have done amazing jobs on my nail designs. They can copy something you've seen online or envision something with you and create something unique. I cannot go anywhere else! New updates recently: they only take reservations from the Booksy app. The app is so easy to use to book your appointment(s). For those who don't like talking on the phone (not me, but maybe you), you don't need to call to make an appointment. These girls are BOOKED & BUSY so you have to schedule in advanced on the app. ESPECIALLY if you are doing something complicated I.e manicure with design. ALSO you have to schedule time if you already have a mani/pedi gel or something difficult to take off. Like I mentioned, BOOKED & BUSY... we all know how long to you need to soak to get gel off. Lo Ann tries her best to be accommodating to all customers but of course needs to follow the schedule so everyone can get what they need. It was my first time going to this salon & unfortunately I will never be back. Although I had a reservation, the service was extremely rushed & impersonal. I came in with Gel-X extensions that I reserved a soak-off service for. The nail tech rushed through the soak off process & I could see that a lot of the previous nail was not yet dissolved. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I brought it up to my nail tech, I was told not to worry because I was getting builder gel & that the end result wouldn't look bulky.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I questioned it but moved on. Then I found it extremely odd that I didn't get any basic cuticle care once the previous set was (for the most part) removed. No buffing, shaping, filing, cuticle push back or trimming of my nails whatsoever. How do you ensure you're working on a clean, well prepped base without basic manicure care? When I brought this up to the lead nail tech (not sure if this was the owner) I was told that cuticles care is only done when you select a Russian manicure and because I selected a hard gel manicure, cuticle trimming does not come with that and I would need to add that to my service for an additional fee. In what world do you not provide basic nail grooming/care on a manicure? Bizarre. Because of this all of the gunk, debris, glue residue from the removal was still on my nails when she started to apply the hard gel. Needless to say the finished product was extremely messy & lumpy. It was bulky and messy & makes my hands/nail beds look like I have clubbed fingers (no disrespect to those who do). I have never been to a salon where basic nail care is NOT performed before a manicure. It doesn't matter what kind of manicure it is. Lastly, I was given a very rushed design (it was sloppy, off center, and the polish work was uneven). At this point I just wanted to pay & leave because I knew I would never be back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon paying, they had the nerve to push a QR code in front of my face to tip. At first I ignored it, but the young lady ringing me up aggressively waved the paper at me again & said "you can tip here or on the card, which one?"[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]The nerve & audacity. I had to firmly say "I am JUST paying for my service" ...I am an avid nail wearer & manicure getter, and I can wholeheartedly say I have never left a nail salon without tipping but I was not taken care of by these people. Dropped in here today for an impromptu visit for a pedicure and we were happy to see it was pretty empty on a Friday afternoon. After previously stopping by Galaxy, we had to leave because there was literally no space to stand or even wait in line. After learning there were 4 more pedicures ahead of us, we decided to head back to Rockridge Bart and check out file + style. The interior is way more spacious and seemed really clean. The nail colors were nicely laid out. My pedicure was decent, but where i need to deduct my stars is that the person doing the foot scrub was scrubbing my foot so aggressively i told her it hurt...and then she continued to vigorously scrub the same spot over and over again. It was so painful there are scratches down the soft side of my foot where she would not let up. It would have been nice if she listened to me after i had to say "ouch, that actually hurts" and pull my foot away. Sad. read more

Usually I love it here but I'm disappointed in my full set today. I spoke to Loann on Instagram multiple times when she posted chrome and jelly nails and I told her my appointment date. She said to book w Trihn bc she'd be out. I was told the colors I wanted would be there. I get there and there's no jelly colors that match and Trinh has no idea what I'm talking about. I got a cat eye in dark purple that is not what I originally envisioned. I'm including the insta proof and the jelly colors I was shown today. She did a great job shaping and on the set but I've been coming here since 2021 and feel like it's been much harder to leave satisfied. Editing to say my pedicure was amazing. I've been meaning to leave this review for some time, but LoAnn just went above and beyond so I'm finally writing one. I've been coming here for dip nails and nail art for about a year now, and I've been consistently impressed with the service. The whole team is great, but Nadia and LoAnn's nail art is incredible. They both do a great job at putting the designs I like on my shorter nails. I consistently get compliments on my nail art. I feel like they must think I'm exaggerating when I come back and tell them about it, but I'm serious. Friends, clients, coworkers, even my optometrist has said they like my nails. The salon is also well run. Appointments start on time, and are completed in a timely manner. The nail color selection is great and they are always upgrading the salon. But in addition to this generally great service, LoAnn is also an incredibly kind business owner. I was supposed to have an appointment for a mani/pedi with nail art last week but when I got to my car to head over I found it had been broken into. I had to late cancel my appointments to deal with it. Ordinarily, you're charged a fee for late cancel (as is typical for a salon), but LoAnn refunded me without me asking when I told her what happened. So their gel manicures are really great in the sense of no chipping, but these gel manicures also ruined my nails like I've never experienced. After 4 appointments with them, their removal and prep process ground my nails down to the point where I'm experiencing severe brittleness and breakage on all of my nails (mind you, I used to be a nail biter, stopped a few months ago, worked so hard to grow out my nails, and now they're down to basically nothing). Everywhere else I've been will cover your nails in acetone, leave on for 15-20 minutes, then will gently scrape the polish off which left my nails healthy. Here, they use the nail drill after leaving your nails in acetone for only 5 minutes then will continue to file down the nail once the polish is removed. When this happened the first time I visited, I was admittedly concerned but for some reason kept going back and they continued to remove old gel polish and prep for new gel polish this way. So just a warning, take care of your nails or steer clear of the gel manicures if you go here. read more

This is usually my favorite place for a pedicure. If I had to judge this place based on my experience today, I would probably never come back. I wanted a French tip pedicure. It came out very poorly done. Usually French tip you use pink and white nail polish. He only used clear and white, and made the white lines really thin. Then I found out after the fact that they charge $10 extra for French tip. Most places only charge $5 extra. No problem that it's higher here, but for the poorly done job it was, that's ridiculous. I ended up having it repainted to just all white. Usually nail techs shape and file your nails, but he didn't. I usually really like this place so I'm not rating too low. My partner and I both got medium gel-x sets by LoAnn. She was accommodating to our needs as we were a few minutes late. The salon has an amazing selection of nail colors as well. We were able to be accommodated for pedicures as well. LoAnn is so good with nail art and making sure that we like the shape and colors used. Our sets came out better than the Pinterest pictures presented to her. We've been to shops where we've paid the same price for uneven shaping and lumpy acrylic so we are happy to have found a salon that is in our price range. With the Spring season right around the corner, you might be considering a new look for your nails, or even some fun seasonal nail art. If your standard nail salon isn't up to the job, I highly recommend this place for their comfortable atmosphere, attention to detail, and facility with nail art. This hip & vibrant salon in Rockridge will tick all the boxes for up-to-the-minute beauty enthusiasts, from Pinterest-worthy nail art to vegan manicures and pedicures using only "7-free" nontoxic polishes and products. For the last few times that I've been here, I usually just stay with the basics - a standard manicure is $15 ($30 for gel), a pedicure is $25 ($40 for gel), and the combo runs $38. Very reasonable & won't hurt your bank and/or pocket, that much! As a guy, at first, I was hesitant to come to this place - despite the many positive reviews & its prime location - just because it was a place that seemed "girly" for me. However, I just "manned up" one day & being in the immediate vicinity (knowing ahead that I was gonna be in flip-flop weather soon), walked in without an appointment & I was assisted right away without having to wait! That being said, it was a weekend morning at around 10 a.m. (saw that they had just opened after a Trader Joe's run - which is right next to the shop), entered & was already invited to sit down & was even asked what beverage I'd like. Once you're there, they'll know what to do. They'll push back/cut down the cuticle (the skin around the white half-moon). You want that exposed. They'll cut your nails down, too. Mostly they'll clean the nails, do the cuticles, then rub off dead skin with a pumice stone. Being a reputable shop, they'll know what other corns or callouses to shave off, too. Then they'll rub lotion on any dry patches. After the nails, all the other stuff is a luxury--enjoy it. They also massage your arms & legs! Courteously efficient and hospitable, I might add! It wasn't that bad & these nail technicians (headed by LoAnn) work really hard & make sure you're being attended to. You work hard enough, so why not splurge for a little in personal hygiene?! Feels good to treat yourselves once in awhile, fellas. Make sure to get your dogs cleaned up real good & I mean it! Trust me, it's going to feel really nice when you put your socks back on & walk out of that place. read more

It has by far been my favorite nail place I have ever been to, i've had good and bad experiences with other places in the past but this place has very talented nail techs and has an extremely welcoming environment as well. I chose to try out different place once while I was out at my university and it simply did not compare at all. I always wait until I come back home because I always leave extremely happy with the outcome of my nails after LoAnn completes each of my sets. These are some of the different designs I have gotten in the past that are anywhere from fun and intricate all the way to simple and elegant. I would highly recommend going to this place. While I will say that it can be a little bit expensive as some people have reviewed in the past, if you see the detail that is used and how patient and hard working each tech is it is well worth it at the end of the day. read more
