So happy places like this are starting to pop up in PVD. Like the name says this is an Eatery, a large bar with a few tables. The overall look is very classy with an upscale mixologist behind the bar. All the bar ware is hand blown glass or repurposed glass. The smell of the wood fired oven fills the room and definitely gets your taste buds going. The Pizza has now moved into my top 3 list of PVD pizza. Just the right salt/and wood fired flavor. If you leave your crust on the side of your plate, Shame On You! The Pizza size is 6 slices but just right for one person, for a meal. This place is small but cozy. I came here with my girlfriend and we got a table rather quickly. I do love the fact that there is an open kitchen so there is some transparency between us and the cooks. Nothing better than watching pizza being made right there. I ended up ordering grilled zucchini with a balsamic vinaigrette which was very delightful and a good way to start dinner. The entree was two daily specials which was a pork chop from a local breed called the Golden Ticket. The pork chop came with Brussels sprouts which was drizzled with a sweet sauce that brought the entire dish together. However, the pork chop was very fatty and there were sections that were too chewy to eat due to the fat to meat ratio. All in all a good dish. The second entree was an oven baked pizza topped with cauliflower and locally made sausage. The pizza was by far the star of the night compared to the pork chop. Every bite left me wanting more, however, the sausage was definitely salty and as sparsely as they were scattered. Every time I had a piece of sausage, it felt like a salt pocket and a rush of salt just hit me which overpowered the pizza. In conclusion, I enjoyed a local eatery and although I was pleasantly surprised by the food and atmosphere. I would give it another try to check out what other pizzas they have. Decor is cute, the place smells terrific, and I'd give 4 stars for the food but 0 stars for the efficiency of service: this was one of the slowest lunchest I've ever had in Providence. We arrived, as a party of 6, at noon, and our pizzas took about 40 minutes to come out. It took a while to get the servers' attention for our check, as well. This isn't really great for a place in downtown Providence where, I assume, people might want to go for work-break lunches. That said, the pizzas were well-executed: crispy, chewy crust, high-quality toppings, and well-balanced flavors. We got some of the small plates as well, but I wasn't quite as impressed with those. Two or three people could probably split two pizzas and a small plate or two for a meal. A few notes on the food: Pizzas -- As stated on the menu, these arrive uncut, which is a bit inconvenient if you plan on sharing. The sweet potato (with goat cheese and caramelized onion) and the arugula (with prosciutto, pecorino, and fior di latte) were my favorites; we also ordered the riccota (with soppressata) and margherita (not the best margherita I've had, but pretty good). Small plates -- These are seriously small. You need 2-3 to feed one person. We had the strip steak ($9 for a 2.5"x2.5" square, deliciously sauced) and the RI calamari. Both were fine, but not especially unique. I'd stick with the pizzas, though the goat cheese salad looked terrific. The place itself is in the strip of the Biltmore that is shaping up to be a nice little row of restaurants. However, for lunchtime, I'd much prefer to go to Ellie's next door -- they're a smoother and more efficiently-run operation. This has become my favorite pizza in RI. I recommend the Hell girl. It is spicy and sweet at the same time. I also enjoy their other wood grilled dishes such as duck breast and chicken thighs. Figidini's has quickly become the official hang-out spot of the Bond family. We ALWAYS choose the chef's creation pizza because we have never been disappointed. Last night, we started with the combo small plate with grilled lamb and sweet sausage. The dish was, in a word, flavorful! The duck pizza which followed was equally impressive. Figidini's has metered parking out front so don't feel the need to pay double digits to park in the Biltmore garage above the restaurant. There are a handful of tables outside, great for warmer weather. There are a number of tables inside along the left wall and one 2-seat table in front adjacent to the outdoor dining area. We prefer to sit at the bar and chat with Colin, the bartender. Make sure to ask him about any wines "off the menu." You won't be disappointed. One thing I find interesting is that Figidini's doesn't pre-slice the pizza for you. I swear one day I will bring in my own rolling cutter and whip it out when the pie hits the counter! read more

If you fantasize about dining at one of those niche restaurants then Figidini's is the place for you! I do not exaggerate when I tell you that absolutely everything coming out of their kitchen is delicious. Their menu is sometimes seasonal, often creative, and like no other anywhere in the state. The bartender is a true professional mixologist and can whip up anything your heart desires. Sure you might find it is a slight bit more expensive but you will not find food quality and preparation like this just anywhere. I'm not somebody who leaves angry restaurant reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others here. I've lived in Providence for years, and this was easily the worst meal I've had or seen. I order the chicken thighs, and my boyfriend ordered a prosciutto pizza. His pizza was subpar and pretty small, but my meal was comically bad. Mine came out stacked high with thighs on top of each other on a tiny plate: it looked like they were hiding something. The skin was burnt and peeling off (dry like an adhesive bandaid), the insides were undercooked, there was no seasoning, and the vegetable accompaniments were tasteless. The service was mediocre at best (waitress clearly didn't care that we didn't enjoy our meals), and the experience soured our night. Head to PVD Coal Fired, The District, or Antonio's for better pizza, service, and prices. read more

A unique, little tapas pizza restaurant in Providence serves up big flavor. The restaurant is hip, the service is great and the food is yummy. I'm not a fan of small plates restaurants, but Figidini gives you fair prices and decent portions for the amounts unlike other "shared plates" restaurants (Persimmon). We started with the figs and a salad which were delicious. The margherita pizza was yummy, although could have used more pizza sauce. The pear martini was good, but a tad small. I fell in love here last night. I had the most remarkable pizza ever and quite literally almost cried. Everything was outstanding! When I arrived, the first thing I was told was to come back at 8pm. When I showed my walking cane due to the fact I am handicapped and replied that I cannot come back, I was told again, "sorry, no..." So I even suggested a take-out order, but that was not possible as well. The maitre'd suggested I should have called but I stated that when I tried to make a reservation online via OpenTable, she quickly noted that they are not using them anymore. It's particularly hard for me to hit a restaurant in the breadbasket like this, but Figidini just doesn't do it for me. I get it. Wood-fired eatery. It sounds awesome, but the execution is lackluster. While I can understand and attribute some conventional slip-ups and mishaps to the newness of a restaurant, there are some glaring problems here. The food is too expensive for what it is. Figidini needs to decrease the price or increase the portion size. It isn't gourmet. It's faux-gourmet, but top-tier prices with small-bite portions. I have to protest. If I leave the restaurant hungry (and crave fast food to fill the hole in my tum) that's not a good sign. You absolutely need to understand what you are doing with wood-fired, high-heat ovens. If you're going to make pizza at high-heat, it has to be done perfectly. Otherwise, you'll be left with crispy-esque exterior crust, and slightly undercooked, doughy interior. It is a textural nightmare -- to top it off (no pun intended) the toppings and sauce are too weighty, so the pizza collapses in hand and becomes quite messy. A knife and fork with a pizza should be an option, not a necessity. The redemption of this restaurant is waitstaff. Faultlessly courteous. Final grade? See me after class. read more

Things started off well enough - was promptly seated by hostess and was excited to sample a bunch of small plates and pizzas with my family. My husband, son and I were really looking forward to trying this restaurant for dinner last night. Really? Thanks for the tip sweetheart. I've been to Italy more times that you could ever imagine going but I truly appreciate the education. And just when I thought this stupidity had ended, she proceeded to say that she witnessed parents use their fingers to pick off the basil. Seriously, you really can't even make up this absurdity. What she doesn't know is that we used to live down the street in NYC from the only Vera Pizza Napoletana Assoc certified restaurant and of all of the times I are there, I wouldn't have been spoon fed such pretension. We politely asked for our check and she gave us a speech about how sorry she was but to tell you the truth I felt like she found pleasure in not wavering on her decision. This, friends, is the real deal of Neapolitan style pizza in a slightly upscale Italian grill setting. The real freaking deal. If you are interested in trying the pizza at this restaurant, please do yourself a favor and search for "Neapolitan style pizza" before stepping foot into this establishment. The space is well designed, with flexible tables to squeeze together a few friends, and an open kitchen. The bar is gorgeous and the specials - food and drink are on a wall sized chalkboard. The space is small, but feels cozy, not cramped. My favorite dining companion and I (with whom I shared many a pizza in Italy) split the goat cheese salad, the grilled calamari, and the margherita pizza. As we ordered, we were greeted with explanations and education by the waitress for each selection. I normally would have found this annoying, but clearly this establishment has suffered a wee bit from people who don't know what the heck they are doing. I suppose I hesitated a bit too long when asked if I had eaten a Neapolitan style pizza before (dozens, was just wracking my brain to remember if I had ever had one in the US), so it's partially my fault for not cutting off the pointers. She also explained how the calamari didn't have breading and paused to see if we changed our mind (seriously, who has damaged this poor waitress). The waitress also provided a well-intentioned recommendation of cutting the pizza in quarters so that we could "fold it over and eat it that way". (P.S. NO LOCAL I ever observed in Italy eats Neapolitan pizza that way. That's a great way to put a sign on your forehead saying "I'M AMERICAN!") I did give her a very confused look after that suggestion. The olive oil and mozzarella were top notch and came together like a delightful composition. I absolutely love the arugula prosciutto where it has the perfect punch from the arugula's spice and is balanced out with the salty prosciutto. The cheese glues everything together. Yum. Their margarita pizza is also out of the world with basic yet the most fresh ingredients and home-made tomato sauce. Make sure you check out the board for specials! It's not a traditional pizza joint in so many ways. Their pizza is not sliced and you have to do the work to cut them up. Their menu has many appetizers options and they are more like bite-size tapas option. They are slightly on the expensive side but I guess the environment makes up for it. They lose one star because their service is slow. I brought my coworker there for lunch and we were the only ones at the restaurant. Our pizzas took almost 45 minutes to make. 45 minutes is no bueno for a lunch break :( The wood-fired grill is boiling hot and I don't know why the pizzas took so long? I was there last night to celebrate a really important event for a few friends of mine, and rather than being greeted warmly to match the celebratory spirits, they told us that we couldn't be seated until our entire party arrived. There were 3 out of 4 members of our party there. The restaurant was EMPTY. It was 5pm on a quiet weeknight. A table of 3 uses up the same space as a table of 4. I completely understand on a busy weekend at 7PM why they might not be able to seat parties until everyone arrives. But on a weeknight at 5PM when the rest of the joint is deserted?? That's just bad business. Please use some common sense and stop trying to act like a Tribeca NYC night club. I hate those clubs anyway. THEN... my GREATEST pet peeve of ALL pet peeves: NO changes to your order. Now, I get that sometimes, a fancy dish that's been hand-crafted by the chef (i.e. duck confit or a really complicated risotto) needs to keep its ingredients intact. But this is PIZZA. I don't care if you are making pizza for the queen of freaking England. I can't get the sweet potato pizza without onions?? What??? And now you have to charge me MORE to get the SAME THING withOUT onions because I have to make a pizza from scratch a la carte?? How does that make ANY sense. Really hands down solid pizza. But my four star review is coming from this: the SURPRISINGLY tasty arugula and goat cheese salad. This was honestly one of the best and most delicately crafted house-made salads I've ever had. The arugula was so beautifully dressed in a lemony, tangy EVOO. It came with a whopping portion of grilled bread topped w/ potent goat cheese that melted in my mouth. I came here with some friends while we waited for our tables at Ken's Ramen next door (their host recommended it). We were a group of 7 and some of us felt like drinking, some did not, and we were only in for a short wait anyway. The place was pretty empty and those of us who did not order drinks got major side-eye. In the end, we were there for maybe 15 minutes and ordered some olives to snack on while we waited. Now... I understand that if the place is busy it is not polite to take up space at the bar if you're not drinking. 100%. However, one of the bartenders went out of his way to be rude and condescending. If I'm at a bar and not drinking or order water (for whatever the reason), I will still tip and tip well, because I was served. When we saw the place getting busy, we asked for the check so we could vacate the seats, and the bartender kept saying "there are paying customers who want to order more than water so you guys need to leave". There are nicer ways to say that and it definitely does not bear repeating. We got it the first time around. I handed him $20 (I hadn't ordered anything) and told him to keep the change and not be so rude next time. (Also to clarify: my guy friends did order some beers. I personally did not feel like drinking and some in our party weren't carrying their ID so they were not served.) I'm really turned off by the "service" we got here. Ken's Ramen is doing y'all a HUGE favor by suggesting customers wait at your bar. I had never been to Figidini and if the experience had been better, I would have 100% come back to give the food a shot. Authentic - Lovely - Tasty. This place is fan-tas-tic....and I can't even eat their pizza. My first trip here was the week after they opened - we were originally destined to go to Ellie's, however our hunger was a little bit greater than a macaroon could satisfy. My daughter got the pizza - I just sat there and salivated as I have a dairy allergy and gluten is not my friend. I had the Fennel Salad and the Chicken thighs and some really good red wine. Delicious! They really do a great job presenting a menu with plenty of authentic Italian cooking....looking for chicken parmesan, just keep on walking. The small plates are perfect for those of you who enjoy Flan y Ajo Tapas Bar. The space is very well designed and really makes good use of the space. One of mine and my Husband's favorite restaurants in the PVD. Proscuitto wrapped figs? Check. 00 Flour pizza dough? Check. Delicious cocktails? Checkmate. I have to say I am so surprised to see less than savory reviews for this gem of a place. Not my place to judge, however this place is very authentically italian when it comes to the cuisine so if you did not like Figidini I guess you won't be booking a flight to Italy soon. The flour that is used for the pizza is like being transported back to any amazing pizzeria in Rome. It is so light and tasteful that honestly, one could finish a whole pizza by themselves (as it is intended in Italia). The choices they have for toppings are impeccable and a pizza always tastes better when you have you use a fork and knife - I swear, you must try. Every time we have come here the service has been so friendly and down to earth, nothing stuffy here. The atmosphere is cool and laid back and I always feel comfortable. I love how their menu changes seasonally and whatever you order in season you will taste the freshness. The appetizer's are definitely more tapas size, and are to be shared. Everything I have eaten here has been nothing short of amazingly delicious and I can't wait to get back. read more

It was not easy to rate this wonderful new pizzery! 5 for AMAZING food and 3 for portion. Ambiance is a cute indoor/ourdoor deliciously smelling pizza parlor with a menu that emails apps, small plates and pizza! They also have a GREAT local booze list - SCORE! We got the fig appetizer which was delicious, so fresh, wrapped in procuitto YUM but the order came with 3...3 1/2 of figs. Then we Crimini pizza...loaded with amazing house cured olives, mushrooms and truffle oil, it was a party in my mouth! We were a little dissapointed with the size (thinking an $18 would be enough for 2 people for dinner) but it was SO good. ...next time we know to order 2 pizzas! read more

I'd been here once before and loved it so I decided to introduce my family to this fine Italian establishment. We came here after seeing Prince of Providence. So it was a perfect compliment to the famously Italian mayor of Providence who has his own Marinara. I've been on the wagon so I tried a mock tail, which was the bartenders choice and it was really tasty. We ordered stuff from the grill and a faro salad first. The coal roasted beets and goat cheese was a special and it was incredible, the Rabe is always a favorite of mine as well. Then we ordered 2 pizzas which is a good amount for 4 people. We tried the special, which had calabrese sausage , so authentic and delectable. Also had a margherita pie, always perfect. The pies here are just so good. The crust is airy and light while also crispy and toppings are super fresh! This is easily one of my new favorite pizzas in the state. I'll keep coming back before a PC basketball game or after a day at the theatre. read more

Went on a Saturday afternoon. The place was busy but plenty of room at the bar. So there we sat. The Bartender, Collin, was great. Busy, but took the time to chat us up on the history, etc. We actually had a conversation about reviews on Yelp. I see there are reviews here by people who don't like the fact they don't deliver and they don't offer takeout. I can understand why Figidini's does not. The wood fired grill, fresh ingredients, totally delectable food could possibly lose what the owners pursuit is here. I think it is old time "go to a restaurant", not have everything brought to you. It is modern, yet not too, "hipster" to feel uncomfortable, unless you are a "hipster" and therefore may feel the place is a little too "uncool"? Well, it isn't "uncool" at all. The food is great! We had the calamari, which, as everyone here in RI knows, calamari is always, or most often fried. It was a surprise and a delight to find it served, the old time, "Italian way". Freshly grilled, with the tentacles, totally delicious! Scrumptious!! I know, having owned a seafood restaurant for 13 yrs in Providence, two things about Squid. Old school, grilled, with tentacles or stuffed. Not fried. I did find most people wanted fried, "WITHOUT TENTACLES"!!!' So I ended up offering all types. But.....the old timers loved the original method of sautéed or stuffed. And that is what you'll find here. We also had the Margherita pizza. Melt in your mouth delicious. The crust is so soft and flakey that it doesn't come cut. Well.....you tear off pieces of yumminess. So give it a try !!!! read more

I thought the pizza here was just lovely and good suggestions from the waitress helped me tailor the pizza to my own strange tastes. They also have good wine and an interesting selection of drinks and other food stuffs. Staff was super nice and I went early enough that I just walked in and got a table. Downsides: I just found it a bit pretentious. For example, they don't slice the pizzas because they don't slice pizzas in Italy (or so I was told). Frankly, that doesn't seem like a great reason to me. Sliced pizza is easier to eat. Do I gain something in taste or experience by you not slicing it? Also, only one dessert choice makes me sad.
