My family is Italian, I come from Pittsburgh which has a lot of great Italian restaurants... I've had very very good Italian food in my life... And wow!!! I randomly looked up restaurants in Wheeling to see or I could stop on my way home got a nine hour trip on the highway... this place came up with good reviews so we said we'd give it a try Wow!!!!!! I did not expect to have Italian food that's good coming out of a random place in Wheeling .. wow the gnocchi was phenomenal and perfect texture, the service was extremely friendly and every single thing we ordered was great!! read more

Figaretti's was a great find! The establishment is just a few miles down the road from the Highlands if you want to escape the tourist traps/ chain restaurants near all the shopping. My husband and i went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and unfortunately do not offer the lunch menu on the weekends. I did not want a dinner entree at 1pm so I asked if the lunch menu was available. The server gave me the lunch menu with absolutely no hesitation which I really appreciated! I ended up getting the lunch size grilled chicken salad and it was delicious! I got the lunch portion and it was still huge and I needed a togo box. The house dressing was so good!! I asked for a lid for my dressing so I could take it home with me, and the server even filled it up for me! The service was really great all around! My husband got the stuffed rigatoni and it was a big portion as well. It was basically ravioli in a different shape, but still good. We both got the Brie and mushroom soup. He loved it but I was a little disappointed. It tastes just like cream of mushroom soup. Wasn't really expecting that.... but that doesn't change my opinion of Figaretti's at all. If you're ever in the Wheeling area, I highly suggest stopping for dinner! read more

Love this place. Quaint atmosphere and delicious food. I can't get bough of the veal parmigiana!

Grew up in Wheeling and had "distant"memories of this place. Had an opportunity to visit Wheeling this week and of all Wheeling Institutions - this one was on my list to visit. Staff were friendly; restaurant clean and very straight forward. Menu choices distinctly IWheeling-Italian (that's not at all a bad thing, as a world travel local flavor is appreciated.) Let's start with the appetizer - Sausage stuffed peppers. Oh, my, God! Amazing! Flood of memories came back and flavors danced - clearly home made everything. Amazing flavor, not too spicy - great start! Next we had the Lasagna. This is a highly debated dish in any Italian family - ricotta, meat, what's the right balance? Given the amazing sausage - they lean her more to the sweet sausage tastes - and wow did it amaze again. Full bar rounds out the perfection. Attentive staff who are there when you need them and disappear to allow your conversations to continue. We were never left waiting or wanting. All around; this place is perfection in many ways. Don't change a thing; keep going with the perfection. And if you come to or pass through Wheeling - make the stop here for a pure local inspired Italian dinner experience. read more

Good food, but scarily fast. We had a reservation for Saturday at 5pm that we arrived at 4:55 for. We were immediately seated and greeted by our server. The restaurant was busy but not packed yet. We ordered drinks, food, and a dessert and had everything in under an hour. We literally got our entree 15 minutes after being seated. I mean, I love good service but one wonders how fast things should take. We didn't really get to dig into our entree salad before getting our meal. But once 6pm rolled around, we were finishing our drinks and were told that the next reservation was coming in in 3 minutes. We just left after that. Overall, okay food but felt rushed. read more

Just like the old Italian joints in NJ or NY. Great food. Gnocchi were delicious. Fantastic servers. Owner very present and pleasant. Prime rib was A1. Small but intimate. I recommend. read more

Went there last night absolutely horrible, watery sauce, veal parm was fatty thick and hard to cut my husband had chicken piccata that was a deep fried piece of chicken (never saw it prepared like that) and fettuccini that was floating in tons of butter and I mean floating, just a horrible meal! Best part was the lovely waitress! Would not recommend at all! read more

Great food, quick service, good ambiance. A very nice place for a wonderful meal with friends.

all very awful, they take your food before you even finish it, constantly checking to see if you are done with your food or drink. my shrimp was raw and the shrimp wasn't pre peeled. read more

Great service and great food. The lasagna was amazing. It's a quaint place with a lot of personality! Would recommend!

Fantastic night at Figs again. Love this place bc of atmosphere the crowd and staff are great. I requested they put college football on and this place is not so big that they can't make it happen. The channel was changed in seconds bc big games were on. Great service. The drinks were great and dinner hit the spot. I had veal parm. read more

Figaretti's Restaurant - Veal Parmesan - Italian Near Me - Wheeling, West Virginia

Good here is terrible! Sauces are watery and the pasta is overcooked. The best part of my meal was the salad.

I started with a drink the Godfather so smooth and perfect on a warm day. I had veal parm my wife veal piccata both were good. Both came with a salad, the veal wasn't over breaded it was very good and plenty of pasta on the side. The place opened on 1944 and feels like an old neighborhood place. The service was great and we felt right at home. Would love to go back read more

Food was amazing the girl who brought me my order to my vehicle was the sweetest!! I would recommend this place to everyone!!!

Nice calm atmosphere. Menu had plenty of options. The calamari appetizer easily enough for the 4 of us. Reasonable prices. Owner Dino stopped by and spoke with us for a few minutes. Will definitely go back if we are ever in the area again. We were only in the area for the night from Northern Virginia. read more

This place was packed with locals on a weeknight so we dined at the bar. The Queen of Queens was our bartender and she was delightful and concocted a special Italian cocktail for us - my friend texted the ingredients and she did her best! We were on a quick visit through Wheeling celebrating my mom's 79th birthday with a walk down memory lane. Great service, nice patrons, delicious and reasonably priced food. Highly recommend this local fave. read more

We stopped in on our way across country after finding several good reviews on yelp. The decorations outside were better than inside. The red Ferrari was a nice touch. Dinner included a steak salad and chicken Alfredo. The salad was great with very fresh ingredients and nice chunks of fillet. The Alfredo was creamy and delicious the chicken was moist and tasty. We finished with a slice of peanut butter frosted chocolate cake - Yum. read more

Arrived around 5:15 p.m. We were greeted and seated immediately by a friendly, smiling hostess. The place was packed within 30 minutes. Our waiter arrived promptly. He was friendly and professional and able to answer all of our questions. The food also arrived in a timely manner. It was both hot and delicious! As we enjoyed our meals, we observed that all of the wait staff were friendly and behaved very professionally. This was especially refreshing because the employees appeared to be very young. It is apparent that management understands the importance of proper training for staff in the effort to create a welcoming atmosphere. We were further impressed by the young manager who checked on every table, both inside and out, observed the hostess station, the wait staff, the bar, the kitchen, and helped the lady outside with a delivery. If you're ever near Wheeling, WV, make time to go to Figaretti's! read more

The food and service were excellent. I am married to a woman who is half Sicilian and half Italian who was very pleased by the food. Darbie was our waitress. Her suggestions were spot on and she was very attentive and made you feel welcome. read more

The best period. Dean Martin culture Italian food. Great experience. Just go & enjoy the experience.

Overcooked pasta . It took them 5 min to make my pasta dish , reheated pasta Luke warm was what I got after asking for "al dente " pasta . Would not go back . I travel to Italy often and that was not what Italian eat . Left the restaurant hungry, as I couldn't eat that dish . read more

Great place to get some good homemade hot food. Staff is wonderful. It's nice to see all the pictures in the wall. Makes you feel at home.

After reading the good reviews, we looked forward to trying it. To start, the bread was served with tasteless margarine, not butter. We ordered the fried zucchini appetizer. It was thin slices of zucchini fried in a thick, hard crust. Not good, but not awful. We ordered veal piccata, and got chicken piccata by mistake. It was not sauteed, but fried, with what appeared to be the same thick hard crust that was on the zucchini. The waitress offered to replace it with veal, but we declined. The thick hard crust would have been even worse on thin slices of veal. Overall, one of the worst meals we have had. read more

Disgraceful ownership. Owner seems very perv like and disrespectful. Service was good tho!

This is a classic old Italian family restaurant. It's small but on the walls and in the menu it tells the history of the family immigrating to work in the local coal mines and creating this family restaurant. Live the food here. I love when classic Italian food is cooked in authentic Italian family restaurants because they don't make it a show. They just serve amazing food and let it speak for itself. read more

They have made their grilled chicken salad inedible mine was literally all stems I have been getting this salad for years and can't eat it anymore I know some people like stems but I don't enjoy them got take out and threw it in the trash..they started out with homemade fries and now it's frozen fries and stems. I do t go to Italian restaurants much because I grew up with handmade pasta from scratch and I have high standards. The ravioli here was top notch. Maybe the best I e had in a restaurant. Fettuccini was also very amazing. Our only issue was the sauce maybe was bland but overall an amazing dinner. Real Italian read more

Ok , so my review will probably echo some others over here . First time there . Decent prices and Service was good. Ordered figs appetizer, that was delicious and had spaghetti meatballs. The meatballs were good . The red sauce not as great . Not a red sauce expert, but tastes to me like it's too sweet , maybe have extra oregano or thyme in there ? Had to add salt and pepper to my spaghetti. Almost like tasteless. I'm willing to give it another shot but probably won't order any spaghetti with red sauce unless they change the recipe . read more

Figarettis is personally one of my favorite restaurants but lately the portions and food have been laughable. We purchased 3 meals this evening, totaling $49. Pork chops were great, but risotto was literally crunchy raw. My sister ordered stuffed rigatoni and got 7 small rigatoni (that meal was $14). This was absolutely not worth the money. Disappointed. read more

Figaretti's Restaurant - meatballs in tomato sauce - Italian Near Me - Wheeling, West Virginia

You can't always get your "kicks" on "Route 66" because it doesn't cross the country from sea to shining sea. Only three interstates do (I-10, I-80, and I-90) and two others cross most of it (I-40 and I-70). Say the deck of cards you are handed is I-70 and you need to eat in West Virginia. Yes, I-70 crosses WV and does so through its narrow upward pointing panhandle which is actually above the Mason-Dixon Line, but which really doesn't mean much here. I asked some local folks for the names of a few places to eat and to include some Italian places in the mix. I checked out a few and they didn't seem enticing. However, unassuming Figaretti's did. Let me get right to it: don't expect anything fancy. However, Figaretti's delivered on the food, the service, and the price. It was at about lunch time. Figaretti's is not what is called an Italian-American "red sauce factory" and it's not bistro-like modern Italian cuisine. It's off these endpoints, though slightly closer to Americanized. However, it works well. I've known of the term "red sauce factory" for a long time, and it's not exactly a flattering one, though, ironically, Figaretti's also sells pasta sauce of many varieties and it appears that it is available in some supermarkets! Here, though, I liked everything I ate, including the hearty pasta dish I ordered and its sauce. Again, I was very happy with the tab, but then I just tend to get a plate of pasta and a non-alcoholic drink. It's a slightly old school, and even a little frumpy, which you notice when you use the restrooms, but it's a clean place. The young lady who was my server was very friendly in a welcoming, small town sort of way. Generally speaking, West Virginians are laid back folks who have to endure being the butt of quite a few regional jokes. Figaretti's, in Wheeling, WV, is an easy on-off from I-70. Basically, it sits on the frontage road. Curiosity also got to me and I took a look around Wheeling. You should, too. The city sits on a river forming the border between Ohio and West Virginia. Part of the city is on an island in the middle of this river! You can tell that, with its movie houses, churches, and mansions, it must have been an interesting hub. Find a way to climb up to the top of the hill which the I-70 tunnels pass under and look over the pleasing panorama of Wheeling, its island, the river, and the abundant vegetation. Also, having received waves of European immigration to work in the coal mines, West Virginia benefits from more cuisine options than if smack in the middle of the "flyover zone." This might explain Figaretti's legacy and why the food is fairly true to form. If you aren't a food snob and like satisfying Italian comfort food, eat here. read more

Had to work in Wheeling for a day and arrived the previous evening. This place was a recommendation by a colleague (who came with us also) and DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Traditional family style Italian restaurant - homemade everything, nice bar, good selections. There were 4 of us and we all had excellent meals, great cocktails and some delicious Italian wine. Food was deliciously good and good portions without being over the top. We chose Italian wine with dinner and it was good.. Our waitress was awesome - very friendly and helped us out with specials. We shared a bread basket which was nice - fresh and hot with a garlic butter - tasted great. I did manage some images of the food but I can't find them (after backing up my phone). We stayed until closing as we got there later and the staff were fun and very helpful. If I'm back in Wheeling, I'll definitely go back there.. read more

My wife and I ate here for the first time on a Thursday night. It was "prime rib night." The prime rib was excellent! I had a side of spaghetti with marinara, a salad with balsamic vinaigrette, and started the meal with a cup of lobster bisque.
