I didn't expect this to be located on the board walk but I guess I should've paid more attention to the reviews. My girlfriends and I picked this place for brunch near the beach. The parking was bit difficult to find but eventually found free street parking just 5 mins walking distance. I'm so glad we made reservations on a Saturday morning since we saw a few people turned away because there just wasn't any availability. We were sat outside in the corner and it was the perfect spot. When the sun got to be too hot, we asked for the umbrella and instantly it was a vibe haha! My friend and I got the Fig Jam breakfast plate and my other friend got the breakfast burrito. All tasted amazing, fresh, and was great portion. Service was slow at first but they made sure that all of our food showed up at the same time. On the advice of a coworker, we chose Fig Tree to host a small (30-person) event to commemorate the end of a 4-day seminar for a visiting group of producers from Japan. It was a great success! Perfect nighttime beach vibes with great food and atmosphere. Also quite reasonably priced for a private beachside room and open bar. They were very flexible and accommodating. We had our choice of patio tables and settled into a pretty great late lunch/early dinner. At 5:45pm it was busy but not slammed. The staff were all super kind, prompt, and kept a steady flow of service. They dropped a bowl of rosemary olives on the table and they were the nicest little appetizer. I ordered the Salmon & Avocado tostada which was good! The creaminess of the avocado was perfect on the corn tostada. The flavors paired nicely with the fresh salmon. Solid. I also got the Shrimp Roll. The roll...was stupid. I'm just going, to be honest. I couldn't pick it up to eat because of its shape and size. But cutting it made the salad go everywhere. A bunch of parking lots that you have to pay (my advice is don't go into the first lot you see, they're more expensive!) there's no point in a reservation because they will still making you wait 30 mins in a line with other people infront of you. There's no service at this place, the waiter barely stops by to check in. The portions are SMALL. Food is really good however, this place is so overpriced that it's not worth it. There are other places in LA that are just worth spending your money on and this isn't worth it unfortunately. Santa Monica bougie comes to Venice. Service was great. Food is only average, but perfectly fine. Prices are normal for LA beach front restaurants. It gets packed on the weekends. Seating area is a little tightly grouped together, so expect to listen in on other patron's conversations. My complaint is nothing Fig Tree can control, but being on the Venice boardwalk has a few issues that some people might not want to deal with. Homeless and drug users who will either scream at you or make you feel the economic inequality. Street performers, which is fine, except if they play their music too loud and or it's music you do not like. With Fig Tree having mostly patio seating, you cannot stop or lower the volume level of the street performers. Finally, it's dirty on the boardwalk, so you'll sometimes get a whiff of urine, dog poo that wasn't picked up, or trash that attracts flies. Almost my entire meal there were a few flies circling my table constantly. None of my criticisms has anything to do with the quality of Fig Tree, I'm just addressing the surrounding area that can play a big factor in your dining experience here. It did for me. read more

I recently went back to Fig Tree and was pretty disappointed. In 2024, I raved to everyone about how delicious this GravLox plate was. Yes it's $27.5 but the toast was fluffy, there was so much salmon - I dreamed of this toast. However, now in 2025, the GravLox plate I had loved before comes on hard bread, was deconstructed, and was missing the flavors that made it so great. I definitely recommend getting their breakfast plate instead as it's triple the food and way better than this now :( read more

I was originally planning to visit The Waterfront Venice, but I was told the café doesn't accept walk-in due to Mother's Day. So I ended up walking an additional block and visited Fig Tree Café instead. [Parking] - Public parking a block away & $9 flat rate. No issue finding a spot to park at 10 AM. [Atmosphere]: Originally I was told to sit inside of a communal table for walk-in, but luckily someone was leaving so I was able to grab an outdoor dining table. The café has been opened since 1978 and outdoor seating got a really nice ocean view. I was able to listen to a street performer playing guitar and just watching people passing. *** Avocado Chicken Melt (sourdough, grilled chicken breast, avocado, salsa basil, watercress, sun dried tomatoes, swiss cheese with a side of leafy green salad - $18): It tasted alright and nothing super noteworthy - a solid 3.5-star on food. *** Decent view and good service, but a-okay food given the price tag. Great customer service !! I ordered the breakfast burrito (not pictured), indigo bloom smoothie, and plantain/coconut pancake. Although it was a little pricey (it's Venice what do we expect) everything was pretty good. The breakfast burrito was a little bit on the smaller portion 7/10 only because it was small and not enough chorizo! They even brought out some habanero and chipotle sauce with it as well. The smoothie was also on the smaller portion but very refreshing 8/10! pancakes were a very big portion (I recommend sharing this one) and were a 10/10! Finally the ambiance was great. My favorite lunch of this trip! We came to Fig Tree Cafe with no reservation, but they were able to seat our party of 8 for almost right away. The (dog-friendly) back patio was extremely pleasant, with a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of shade. For drinks, I ordered an Aperol Spritz, which was well-made and delicious. My friends also loved the Passion Pisco, Rojo, and Fresita cocktails. For food, I decided to get the Beach Burger - highly recommend! The portion size was very large and the Rosemary French Fries on the side were phenomenal. It comes with two thin patties inside and a delicious brioche bun. Some other favorites were the Avocado Chicken Melt, Steak Frites, and Shrimp Roll - all fantastic. The only dish that fell short was the Whole Grilled Fish, which my friend didn't really enjoy. Found this place and it was so adorable which was a perfect place to enjoy a drink and a bite. The resturant is located right in front of the beach which has wonderful views. Free parking is almost impossible but the beach has a parking lot for 9$, which is less than a 5 min walking distance to the restaurant. We went around 3pm past lunch so there were many available seats to choose from. We also realize that there was happy hour from 3-6 I believe. We basically just order from the happy hour menu. The fish ceviche 12$, pina colada a Paloma and a beer. The ceviche came out super fresh and light paired with these really yummy flavored tortilla chips. The cocktails were strong but not too overpowering. We didn't order much but the bill came out to be around 60$ which was pricey. Not to mention that they do automatically charge a gratuity fee and a health fee as well. Overall this place is super cute to relax, make sure to sit outside. Don't get this confused with FIG on Wilshire! If you're looking for a delicious brunch on the Venice boardwalk, Fig Tree is your spot. They were able to accommodate our large group of 25 people. We had one long table right on the beachfront. There was a minimum spend and advanced ordering required. I didn't love this at first - but looking back I'm so happy this was the case. I think it made everything run more seamlessly. Adam and Amanda provided excellent service. It's not always easy to wrangle a large group, and the two of them could not have been more kind and accommodating. They divided the food we ordered perfectly among the long table, so everyone had access to try everything we ordered. We got the calamari, breakfast burrito, avocado toast, chilaquiles, shrimp roll, and THE PANCAKES. Everything was good, probably my least favorite being the shrimp roll. But those pancakes.... Food I rate 2/5. I ordered the avocado toast with salmon and egg on top. At first it came with out the egg and I asked are you sure the eggs in here and they said yes it's under the salmon, but I looked through it and it was not. I was hungry, so I still ate and they were nice enough to just bring me a whole new one with the egg on top. I was hoping with the Ig on top it would taste a lot better. It did taste better with the egg, but the toast in general was not that great maybe it's my taste bud but my friend also tried it and didn't like it. We think it's the seed or the toast of the bread and the chili oil added in it to. It it looked really good in pictures but probably my least favorite avocado toast I've ever had. My other friend ate the last image I posted and it was bland too. No one ate the tortilla wrap because they said it was too hard. My friends got two different toasts and for me, the shrimp roll was calling. The bread was presented like a little boat full of shrimp filling, accompanied by rosemary French fries. The dish fully satisfied my seafood/savory/salty cravings. The restaurant is on the boardwalk, which means there is a great view of the beach and Venice life in general. The students (and I) loved it! The inside looked beautiful too, but I'm glad we got to sit outside. By the way, we took Lyft/Uber rides to the restaurant. I can't even imagine how hard it would be to find parking in this area, just FYI. Our server was kind, patient, and knowledgeable. The food was just as you would expect for a nice beachside restaurant in LA - fresh, unique, delicious!! I wish I could go back there all the time. This was an ok Saturday afternoon stop by the beach. It was more our vibe than a lot of the more intense crowded places nearby. You can make a reservation on Google or walk-in; the line seems long but they actually have many tables available (at least in early May on a Saturday afternoon). They seemed somewhat overwhelmed and the hostess was only at the stand about 50% of the time; our waiter was kind but clearly had too many tables. Still, it's a good place to grab a carafe of rosé on a sunny afternoon, especially if you have time to kill. The nachos were good (delicious pickled cauliflower!) but served in a tiny bowl. The Rosé was pretty but a bit vinegary and only saved by the environment. I was somewhat shocked by the bill at the end of the meal, although they were very clear that 18% tip is included and anything else is additional. We got reservations for 6 people in the morning on the day of, which was surprising but fortuitous. I did not like it even though I love a good matcha drink. For food, we got the ceviche and marisco's fritos as appetizers which were both very very good, the Fritos edged the ceviche out slightly. The calamari in the Fritos was very light, not too oily and delicious with the chimichuri. There were a few fried sardines that were delicious! The ceviche had rockfish which was great. All in all, we loved both. For mains, we got the shrimp rolls, avocado chicken melt and the strozzapreti pasta main. Everyone liked their entrees. The shrimp rolls were fairly big and teeming with fresh shrimp. They were accompanied by fish eggs, which are WAY to salty for me. The pasta was decent. It had a homemade Indian pasta feel to it. Let's start off with the bad, not sure if this place is located near a lot of trash cans, but the flies were unbearable. The service was OK not great. The menu seem to be tailored towards an older crowd and since I had kids in my party, there wasn't anything that you could call a kids meal however they were accommodating and just making plain pancake and hamburger . I was there with three of my daughters two of my grandchildren and my wife. My wife ordered what was described on the menu as an açai bowl but she could not eat but less than half of it and nothing else in the menu called to her. One daughter got the French toast. She seemed to enjoy it. She did save half to take home. My youngest daughter got the Chilaquiles with the egg and she also left about half of it on the plate my oldest daughter and myself ordered the shrimp rolls, which is a take on lobster rolls. I'm not sure about my oldest daughter's robe, but mine was heavy on the celery, which made me think that they used it as a filler so very little shrimp. The hamburger grandson, myself and oldest daughter ordered fries with the request of my daughter and myself having the rosemary fries and my grandson having plain french fries when it came to the table all the fries were plain. Due to time restraint, we did not want to send the fries back so we just went ahead and ate them. Everything that I described was over $300 when the bill came. Me and my partner came upon this lovely cafe while walking through Venice beach. We actually tried it twice, first time during their breakfast hours & the second during their dinner hours. The service was great, our servers would come every couple minutes to check on us and pick up with what we were done already with.
