The chicken cordon Bleu was as delicious as first time I had it, the side veggies were not as tasty as last time. My husband ordered the burger and I was suprised at how yummy it was! Fries are always good, thin and crispy. Wish they had a truffle version. Even the alcoholic drinks were good, service and ambience as well

My husband made an error on the bill and only tipped about 12% of the total, which worked out to about 15% of the food portion of the bill. Our bad; we usually do 20%. But for the first time ever in my experience, the restaurant CALLED US on the way home, demanding to know why we only tipped 12%! I was so jolted by this unfortunate ending to a nice night out that I knee-jerk apologized and told her to add more tip. Again, my bad: I should have either gone through the bill with her or just told them to stuff it. Granted, there was a minor calculation error, but restaurants know this happens, and you don't track down the diner and scold them. Left a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended). Don't think we'll be back.

But what really blew us away was the whole experience and hospitality of Chef Dissen and his staff. The restaurant was full, and yet we could still easily have a conversation without straining to hear one another. The drinks were fantastic, and Chef Dissen's ham wrapped grilled peach appetizer was unexpected and delicious. Server Dalton was humorous and charming, recommending the ice cream sandwich for dessert which was absolutely delightful with its raspberry coulis and salted "rim". It was a memorable evening and we look forward to many more. Thanks to Chef Blais, and even greater thanks to Chef Dissen and crew for an exceptional dining experience.

Fennel and Celery Salad (6.5/10): decent salad. Liked the blue cheese crumbles. Corn & ricotta agnolotti (6/10): probably wouldn't order again. I love agnolotti but their pasta didn't taste fresh and didn't have the al dente I was looking for. The sauce wasn't very inspiring either. Sweet potato hoe cake (6/10): not a very memorable dish. Probably skip next time. Wood-grilled NC Shrimp (7.5/10): this was the best dish we ordered. Shrimp was cooked very well, and the pasta was good too! Service was good. Outdoor dining on Wall St was very nice and peaceful. Tl;dr I thought most of the food was kind of average. The prices are pretty steep, so I'd be hesistant to come here again.

Our waitress was so friendly and nice. The Greek dressing is brought out in Corona bottles with a pour spot. Genius! Especially for those of us that LOVE dressing. Perfectly toasted and just the right amount of ingredients. This was a small and I could only eat half but I went back for the second half as a late night snack! I have been visiting Black Mountain for years but haven't tried this interesting restaurant yet…read more Today was the day for me/us and marked the day the train returned on its route through Black Mountain. We were impressed by the interest and fanfare this post-Helene event created for the locals. Parking on the street, across the street or a short way up the street is town free parking. Shannon and Rain were our friendly and helpful servers. There are many seating options. We chose the sun room which was comfortable. Others were seated outside on the side porch and several people were inside. We shared a bowl of the delicious French onion soup. Eat it while it's hot for the best experience. The buckwheat crepes were the perfect consistency to handle the savory entrees. My Market crepe was packed full of goodies including the sausage add-on. Each ingredient stood well on its own. The pesto was a standout. My partner got the mushroom crepe with chicken. She enjoyed immensely. Both entrees came with a fresh greens and balsamic dressing. The servings were generous enough to bring two halves home for dinner. Sharing soup and a savory crepe is a reasonable strategy if leaving leftovers in your vehicle during the summer heat is a concern. We joined the servers on the patio to watch the return of the train through a nicely recovering town.

Celebrated my birthday at Crusco last night and loved it! Cozy and upscale without feeling stuffy,…read morewith genuinely warm service from the moment we walked in. My husband forgot his glasses and couldn't read the menu, and both the host and our server offered him readers. We did the Dinner for Two $85 -- two starters, two vegetable plates and an entrée to share -- which was such a fun way to experience the menu. We started with the Turnip Cake with XO sauce and Hamachi Crudo with shiso and grilled cucumber. The turnip cake was unique with a great garlicky crunch from the XO, but the bright, fresh Hamachi was definitely more our speed. Next were the Beets with mint, tom kha and makrut lime -- probably the hardest dish to describe because I've never had anything quite like it! The earthy sweetness of the beets was paired with a creamy sauce with hints of lemongrass, little crunchy bits and fresh mint. Earthy, citrusy, creamy and fresh all at once -- a really unique take on beets. Then came one of our favorites of the night: the Fried Potatoes with soubise, lovage and roe. I admittedly had no idea what soubise or lovage were, but crispy potato + creamy sauce + pickled onion (I think?) + salty roe was an AMAZING combination. That little briny pop from the roe reminded me of capers, and we both loved every bite. The Crispy Chicken Thigh was another winner -- perfectly crisp skin, juicy tender chicken, a little pork sausage layered in, plus lima beans and marinated peppers. I wish I took a photo of it after I cut into it to showcase how well prepared it was. Not a bite left behind! And major bonus points for taking such good care of my daughter. She has special dietary needs, and when I asked about something off-menu, our server didn't hesitate. The kitchen made her campanelle with butter and parmesan, and she loved it so much she ordered a second plate. Great food, beautiful cozy atmosphere and friendly, unfussy hospitality. Such a lovely birthday dinner, and definitely a place we'd return to!
