Fantastic services from start to finish. We came in with a large party to celebrate a bride, and our server Karen handled the whole table as if it was an intimate two top. Her menu knowledge and suggestions were excellent. She went above and beyond to accommodate gluten free requests. The tuna and beef tartare appetizers were unique and delicious. Went for dinner right after Christmas so naturally it was a busy time for the charming Omni Grove Park Inn this restaurant is located in. Make a reservation for best results. We had great service. We started with the caviar appetizer. This consisted of caviar atop a crispy layered potato tot with creme'. It was delicious, albeit expensive for the portion size. I could have had a plate of those as my meal if the price was not so steep. My husband ordered the Elk (when in Rome!) and I had the Scallops based on a recommendation from the bartender in our club lounge. Both were excellent, but my husband's elk stole the show. It was worth every bite. It had the same crispy potato as the caviar set up and was an excellent pairing. Perfectly cook cooked to the chef's recommendation with a lovely reduction sauce to complement the meat. No "gamey" moment in the slightest. Super fresh! It was a great first experience with elk. My scallops were also impressively cooked to perfection. Not overdone- which I find restaurants guilty of doing all too often, and usually leads me to not order scallops. They were accompanied by a butternut risotto, fresh mushrooms and a sauce that escapes me. The portion size was appropriate for that price point. We did not have room for dessert, but we managed to sneak in an espresso martini and an old-fashioned to top the night off. read more

So. Been going to grove park inn for years and every time always go to Vue. Loved their escargot. Best I'd ever had. Well, evidently they are under new management because their entire menu has changed and not for better. The menu was small. Portions were even smaller. Not very appetizing, bland and just over all a very disappointing experience. I'm so sad to even have to write this review from so many years of good food. Guys, bring back the old menu. The price didn't match the experience. I ordered the lamb rare plus to medium, and it arrived nearly raw, with the cut being overly fatty and low quality. My wife's tilefish lacked seasoning and depth -- overall, the food was bland, uninspired, and very expensive. Service was underwhelming: our wine arrived halfway through the main course, and we weren't even offered the included bread service until after appetizers. For the price -- which exceeded some Michelin-starred meals I've had -- the experience fell very short. Compared to most upscale restaurants in Asheville, this just didn't measure up. This hidden gem is tucked away in the Grove Park Inn. We would have not know about it if it wasn't for a friend telling us it was there. The service was impeccable and the views from this restaurant match the elevated atmosphere. This is possibly the fanciest place in Asheville with only a few other contestants that being the game on this level. We went for a celebration and we're very impressed with some of the dishes. Our standout favorite was the grilled mozzarella. We also bought a bottle of wine which there were many good choices. The only reason we didn't feel it was a full 5 stars is that our main dishes left us with something to be desired especially for the amount we paid we were hoping the same game would saw for the appetizers would have been for our main dishes. Overall was amazing yet for the price tag we will probably check out some of our other favorite spots next time. I would like to go back and just do appetizers next time and skip the mains and bottle of wine. Glad we went and experience the service most of all. read more

We have arrived earlier for hotel check in, and find excellence wherever we look. We enjoy our conversations with all of the staff members, whom we encounter. The Omni: Grove Park Inn provides several dining options and a view of the Vue 1913 website convince us to dine at the Vue 1913. The wall-to-wall ceilings provide masterful views of the new snow encasement of Asheville and the mountains. We have arranged for a 5:45 dining table, and a red Zinfandel assists with our conversation. We are fortunate to have Cheri as our good-humored server. Cheri is a wine expert and Cheri take her time to discuss the small menu. We like small menus and great chefs, and we fine both at the view. We savor the bison brisket as a starter, and Cheri convince us to dine on the Beef Filet. The dining experience is nearly three hours and a Crème Brule is the desert! My wife and I went here for our anniversary dinner and we had a great time overall. Before going any further, the resort itself (Grove Park Inn) is spectacular and offers views and ambiance that are an absolute must when visiting Asheville. We started with drinks in the lobby/lounge area and I definitely recommend trying something off of the specialty cocktail menu. At the restaurant, the waitress was kind enough to seat us by the window and our reservation was right at sunset so it was perfect timing. We started with a cheese tray that was very good and I ordered the deviled eggs which were a good bit elevated but delicious. We ordered the filet and scallops which both were solid choices, but the portions were rather small. The waitress was very friendly and helpful but only wished she could have recommended a few more things that were not priced the most on the menu. I'm not sure if I would return as good as an experience as it was simply due to the value of the experience itself. I definitely recommend going at least once to experience the restaurant, food, etc., but we will likely go back to the bar/lounge near the restaurant. Amazing Evening and experience at dinner this evening! This beautiful restaurant is situated at the very end of the hotel The Grove Park Inn with lovely views of The Smoky Mountains. The dress code is upscale and the service matches it! Tim was our head server tonight and was exceptional! Tim was wonderful about giving recommendations and answering questions from wine to dinner choices. Being a vegetarian I appreciated the different plant forward dishes and the fact that I had more than one selection to choose from. Our table started with deviled eggs topped with caviar! I did not partake but the table raved about them. For my entree I ordered the mushroom medley. Delicious! Thank you to the chef for providing three different mushrooms cooked perfectly and served over puréed pot statues. My husband had the sea bass that was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. Impressive wine list that did not disappoint...this was the perfect way to spend a special night with friends. Expect all of this to come at a price but it is indeed worth it! read more

VUE 1913 is one of the best restaurants in the USA. We just tested ourselves there for our 57th anniversary. From our entrance to our exit, we enjoyed the very best they had to offer. They welcomed our service dog, unlike several mom and pop joints we've happened upon lately. We were on a weeklong trip to several locations with fine meals every day. THIS was our FAVORITE meal of the whole trip. The food was spectacular!! We decided to make it a 3 course meal with the deviled eggs and arancini to share. Both were excellent. We enjoyed the tomato bisque with crab as the soup of the day. And then for entrees we had the elk and the lobster with grits. We also added a side of the mushrooms. Everything was perfect! The restaurant is quiet, beautifully decorated with beautiful views. I've been waiting to leave this 5 star review since we dined here last Saturday. The Vue 1913 beyond met our expectations! Firstly, it's located in the beautiful Omni Grove Park Inn. I had never been until this past week and wow this place is beautiful, cozy, elegant, and full of history. Let's start with the atmosphere and service. The restaurant is relaxing & beautiful! Although it was almost getting dark, the views were beautiful!! The walls are painted red, my favorite color, along with interesting posters & art throughout the establishment. The lighting perfect for a date night. Our waitress, Sandy, was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly! I would love to have her next time! On to the wine & food! I opted for a pinot noir and my partner with a red blend, both delicious. The wine list is extensive. We then started with the caviar deviled eggs. These were outstanding! The perfect amount of salty & flavorful. Highly recommend! For the entrees, we had the Wagyu filet with new potatoes & zucchini, and roasted chicken with broccolini & artichokes. I love a good steak and have had many exceptional ones, but this was by far the best I've ever had. Perfectly tender and cooked, and flavorful to say the least. The chicken was also tender and full of flavor. Topped with crispy prosciutto, this was amazing! Lastly, we decided on a coffee cake dessert that was unbelievable. I'm not a huge dessert fan (weird, I know) but this was truly amazing! I don't recall the specifics but I would 10/10 eat it again. I know that they are trying to sell more expensive food to make more money but the servers make you feel like you are being judged when you order things that are more affordable. We shared the Thirty Six Hours Pork Belly ($18, properly priced) and artisanal cheese plateau ($25). They should have told us there was 3 weddings, they should have had better directions from Vanderbilt garage to the restaurant. Food was ok, service really wasn't. A phenomenal menu, executed perfectly with attention to detail and top notch service. I had an event at the resort which I skipped after seeing the expertly crafted menu at Vue. I would have been delighted with any dish on the menu. I can highly recommend starting with the steak tartar and bone marrow which was one of the best dishes of this type I've had this year. The steak is of highest quality and freshness and the chef added some great simple touches to the bone marrow such as a dash of lemon zest to really contrast flavors. My bouillabaisse was also cooked to perfection composed of scallops, jumbo shrimp, Manila claims and topped with filet of trout. The chef here also added a little southern flair of okra which brightened the dish. The fried gnocchi dish was an amazing left turn from expectations. It was much more than just perfectly fried gnocchi. It was a fully composed dish including burrata, brussel sprouts, tomato, squash and more. Our waiter, Ben, was a consummate professional providing top tier service and a even included a rose for my dinner companion. Nice touch Ben! This is a place for a special occasion and a truly memorable dining experience. It can be pricey, but the quality is worth it. read more

Lastly, we got crème brûlée for dessert and complimentary chocolates from the restaurant. The views were exquisite and our waitress was very attentive, even the bread being passed around was good and I don't normally eat alot of bread. Grove park inn is an extraordinary place. I have been going to the Blue Ridge room for 20yrs for the buffet. Over the years, the food there has ranged from unbelievably good to alright. The Blue Ridge room buffet is currently excellent. Vue 1913 is not excellent. It is a southern restaurant disguised as top notch French cuisine. For starters we ordered the grilled mozzerella and harvast salad. The grilled mozzarella was ok, it was grilled cheese plated inside of a bowl of broth. Decent but not for 18$. Harvast salad was standard and small for $15. My girlfriend had the lobster conchigle. The dish consisted of large pieces of lobster mixed with an alferdo type sauce. It was glofied lobster mac and cheese. $55 I had the braised short rib. Every time ive seen osobuco or braised short rib on a French menu, ive ordered it. This was very bad. They served it with sweet grits and a small amount of grilled kale. Everything was very sweet. $50 Boucheon 10 of 10 stars and less expensive. If you want real French food, go there. If you want the grove park experience, go to the blue ridge room on buffet days, or go get a burger at any of their featured restaurant. read more

A fine dining experience with a view. This place is located in the Park Grove Resort - so if you are staying there and looking for a less crowded place than the Terrace - you will probably be able to to get a reservation here, but that is because it's the most expensive place on the resort to eat. The view is actually much better from the sunset terrace, but they have finer dining options here and good lobster and steak. They offer the same wine selection throughout the resort - so no difference there. We actually couldnt get in at terrace our first night, so came here and we had an excellent meal. Now the bill was like 400.00 for the 3 of us, but we did have a bottle of fine wine as well. So make of that what you will. I did the tasting menu and it was excellent. My only real complaint is that for an upscale dining experience, they really need to improve the ambience, the seating, the carpets and art and the over feel of the place. I just didn't get the luxury vibe from the surroundings.. Over all, a very good dining experience... but not quite 5 stars. read more

We went here for my husband's 50th birthday. Upon sitting down, our waitress immediately wished him a happy birthday. The food was incredible. I recommend the ribs. The views and sunset were gorgeous and made for a romantic dinner. As a surprise for dessert, our waitress brought champagne and even brought a non alcoholic drink for me without asking having noticed that I ordered a non alcoholic drink earlier. They later brought a non dairy dessert with a candle. All of the food was magnificent, the attention to detail was impeccable and thoughtful. We came for Christmas Dinner. The Inn was decorated beautifully and we enjoyed all the decorated trees and the gingerbread houses. It was nice to stroll with a glass of wine as we waited for our 9:00 pm reservation. They were a little behind so they told us to come back at 9:15. We were seated and had a wonderful waitress named Ann. She took care of us all night. There was a fixed menu for Christmas night. They brought us some really good bread and we ordered a bottle of Chianti. Our first course was the lobster bisque. Really good with a lot of lobster and smoked fish. I ordered the prime rib and my wife got the zucchini roletini. She added a lobster tail which turned out very small and not worth the $32. My cut of prime rib was large but very tough. Definitely have had better. We ordered dessert from the menu choices and it was OK. Without the great service I would probably give two star. We spent close to $350 for average at best food. read more

We have really tried and can't think of one positive outstanding thing about Vue 1913 other than the Inn itself. Not only was the food bland, my $99 wagyu filet was not cooked properly until the THIRD time it was served at which point dinner was over. Our server and service was possibly up to the level of your average Chili's type restaurant- definitely not what it should be. The manager did a routine stop at our table asking about our dinner. I told him we've had a rough go of it. He gave a big smile, nodded and began to WALK AWAY- He wasn't even listening!! I said did you not hear me? Sadly it did not get any better, you get the caliber of the experience so I won't go on. We do not plan to ever go back to this particular restaurant nor recommend it. The rest of the Inn is wonderful including the food at the Sunset Terrace and the buffet venue - much much better experiences there. read more

The resort is incredible - views, service, grounds, restaurants; hotel rooms are unfortunately disappointing. Verdict - great place to visit, bad place to stay. Come for a sunset drink, sit outside to enjoy a cocktail and apps. Then move onto dinner at the Sunset Terrace- wonderful steaks. End the night inside the stunning lobby as you listen to live music, people watch, and if it's chilly - sit by the roaring fire. During our 4 day visit we hit the spa, most of the restaurants, the shops, the piano bar, the outdoor pool, and walked about the grounds. This place is impressive, and you don't need to be a hotel guest to experience all that this resort has to offer. Now onto the not so great - the room. My husband and I would give this a 3 star at best. For $500 a night we were expecting a comfortable room, but it wasn't. Walls are thin so it's loud and you can hear everything going on in the hallway. Our bed was incredibly uncomfortable - neither of us ever have difficulty sleeping but we both did here. The sheets were very rough and did not fit the bed (2 flat queen sheets were used in lieu of a king fitted sheet). The room was humid and too warm. We would not stay here again. On our trip to Asheville in the fall we will absolutely visit the Grove Park for dinner and drinks, but we will stay elsewhere. read more

Great views! Come for sunset or in the day. The food was good. But I expected a bit more. The Carolina Trout was a great dish as well as the Roasted Duck Breast. I would recommend these two as entrees. As an appetizer the Prawn with Grits were quite tasteful. The lobster risotto was a bit disappointing though. The risotto came out crispy on top, most probably from a kitchen line warmer light. Service was on point. Only complaint about service was the bread came out after our two appetizers. Another disappointment was they do not serve the mixed cocktails that they have at the Sunset Terrace bar, which were quite tasty. All in all still a great place to visit.
