Bottom Line: Very Maryland seafood but the bar atmosphere can make it a bit loud in here. Overall, I really like Fifers Seafood, located in the depths of Pasadena. I think they are serving quality food and you can definitely get some genuine Maryland seafood here. The menu is large so there is plenty to choose from, even for those who aren't seafood eaters. My favorite item here is the shrimp salad wrap. The shrimp are plump and perfectly seasoned. Many people go to Fifers for hot, steamed crabs. My father is a commercial crabber so I always eat those at home and can't commit on the social, crab eating experience at Fifers. I like the Maryland atmosphere at Fifers. In the upper portion of the restaurant, I love the awesome chalk art that shows the area's pride in the Orioles and Ravens. Even the Colts get a nod and of course Natty Boh is winking. The downside to Fifers Seafood is that it can get really loud in there. I think the lower portion is louder than the upstairs portion, perhaps because the bar seats more people. read more

Finally getting around to writing this review. I've had Fifer's twice - once in person in Dec '19, and once for takeout in Oct '20. Both times were pretty good. The first time was with a group of extended family members on a pretty busy night. Even though there were lots of customers (both at the tables and the bar), the service was pretty quick. I ordered fish tacos (don't remember which kind of fish), as did several others in my party. The portions were large, the prices fair, and the food tasty. Fifer's is also next to a liquor store, so it's convenient to pick up some drinks on the way home. The second time I had Fifer's, I ordered the soft shell crab meal. The food was delivered quickly. The crabs were really good, and the broccoli on the side was seasoned very well. I think Fifer's is overall a good restaurant, and hope to visit it again soon. read more

The food is decent but the atmosphere is "meh". This used to be a lively place with really friendly staff and a good beer selection. It's been remodeled and sounds are amplified and echo a lot which made it irritating. The server was indifferent although she did not ignore us completely. I ordered crab balls, my second time ordering, first time the service and food were excellent. Yesterday they didn't place my order, I understand we all make mistakes, gentlemen at the back said, sorry can you give us 10 mins. I had no problem waiting. What I didn't like was, another gentleman came around apologized (this would have been enough) but he went on to say how his new employee messed up and he told her do this and that. I was embarrassed for him, you don't throw your employees under the bus in front of the customers. I am assuming he was one of the managers. This was my first time trying this place and I will be going back for the Fried Shrimp! Big & Tasty & seasoned well! I didn't like the Maryland Crab or the Cream of Crab. The MD Crab Soup was very thick & the crab was stringy & could've used vegetables which would have set off the tomato taste of the soup. The cream of crab had more of a milky taste & the crab in it was tasteless. Unfortunately, jumbo crabs were not available this day, so I opted for the large. Went there for my birthday and it was horrible. We got the all you can eat and the shrimp was not done we told the waitress and instead of taking the tray away she left it and brought us 10 more shrimp. The other food they just took it out and put some seasoning on it. We had been at the bar for hours with no issues and paid for all of our drinks. We were playing an innocent bar game that ended in both bartenders screaming at us (Emily- she was pregnant). Meanwhile there were other customers throwing things at the bartenders, harassing other customers and climbing on the bar - these customers were not yelled at by the bartenders and were still served alcohol. While we were denied drinks even though we were sober and just playing a game. We've never been yelled at by bartenders in such a nasty and foul way. This place is a shit hole and the bartenders play favorites with the local alcoholics who sexually assault other guests. The bartenders were rude and created a hostile situation. I've never seen employees treat guests that way. This place deserves a negative score. And customer service was the worst that I've ever experienced !!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! read more

I wanted MD Blue Crabs when I visited and my sister took me and the family here. The menu is extensive, food is great, and the beer is cold. I had such an amazing time with my family at this restaurant! When we first got there we were told that there wasn't anymore crabs, but there was a shipment that just came in, so we were able to order crabs. Checked the website to see that today, Thursday May 20th that this establishment was doing a happy hour special that included half price drinks and appetizers. Decided to drive 40 minutes to the establishment, sat down and ordered my appetizers for the server to say they don't do specials because of covid. The advertisement said nothing about this, COVID has been around for over a year, why does your website show specials you don't honor due to covid? Sounds like BS. Confronted the owner about the issue and he did not care at all, pretty much shrugged it off and passed the buck to Amazon? I guess Amazon runs his website? The food has been declining over time and the service has been terrible. The last time I was in was St. Patrick's Day. The bartenders were soooo drunk that they forgot to bring our food, disappeared with our credit card when it was time to pay and were so sloppy I left earlier than planned. They had no idea what was going on. They did not just have a shot with a customer here or there...there were bartenders in the corner shot gunning beers by themselves. Went on a Tuesday (half off day). My party seated ourselves at 6:20pm. Ordered 3 doz large male crabs. By 7:35pm we were still waiting for our order. The waitress never came back to check on us. We had to ask the bar patron what was taking soo long. So our waitress asked the cooks about the wait time. It took another 20 mins before our crabs came out. Therefore having to wait 1/hr 50 mins to be served. Out of our 3doz large crab order, 7 crabs were only medium crabs (but we let it go, due to the extreme long wait). Although the crabs were fresh and piping hot, they tasted awful! Now I'm a huge crab fan and know what crabs should taste like. These crabs tasted bland! Did they cook/steam these crabs in water only? I've never had crabs taste soo plain and dry. The only reason we were able to enjoy the crabs was to dip them constantly in hot butter (and I'm not a butter fan). Soo glad they were half off. Don't think I will be going back. read more

We went there back in September 2020. We walked through clouds of cigarette smoke at the door which is *great* in COVID-19 times and served as a premonition of what was ahead. The service was abysmal. The food was lackluster and overpriced. The bathrooms were dirty and the men's room had no soap. It was also odd the bathrooms were literally right in the dining room and the table and chairs were practically up against the door. Some friends and I were craving seafood and after doing some research, we decided upon Fifer's. I pretty much came here for crabs and I'm glad I did. A friend and I split a dozen large crabs and they were well seasoned and full of meat. The prices were a little steep right now but that must be due to high demand and/or quality. We've checked several places in the area and the prices lingered in the same price range. Although I'm not much of a beer person, but one cool thing about Fifer's is they brew their own beer. They also have a liquor store attached and if you eat at the restaurant or order from the carry out section, you get 10% off at the liquor store. Sweet! The staff were super friendly, helpful, and informative. They somewhat tag teamed when it came to waiting tables so that they could assist everyone as needed. I guess the only negative is the amount of space in the restaurant for dining in. I can imagine on a good day, it must get really packed. We happened to be there while a Capitals game was on and it got a little loud and rowdy after a while. Luckily, this was shortly before we were beginning to wrap things up and get ready to leave. We ordered a $500 carry out order from Fifers Seafood. They missed 1/2 our order. Did not deliver butter, scallops, wings and shorted us on the 15lbs of snow crab legs we ordered. After calling back 95 times to get no answer the 96th time we got someone and they sent out another delivery and still missed food. Upon reaching out to Billy supposedly the owner his response is call the restaurant he's off. What a piss poor ran local business. Do yourself a favor spend your money elsewhere. Everyone makes mistakes but the attitude of the ownership is never receiving my business again. Saddens me a local business treats its neighbors this way. This is one of my favorite places! My friend and I visited Fifer's for the first time this past Wednesday night. The staff was friendly, fun, and very attentive. We opted to get the all you can eat special since it seemed like we could get a large variety of things. Everything was fantastic. Some of the crabs were undercooked but most were great....very heavy and meaty. The fried chicken was among the best I've ever had. We also really enjoyed the snow crab and crab pretzel. I thought it was overpriced at $60 per person compared to some of the other restaurants we have frequented. We will return for sure but probably won't splurge on the AYCE deal again unless the price comes down. read more

Okay... Yes the Sunday buffet is a bit pricey at $65/person before tax and tip. However, this is a great seafood buffet. While they did not have the Dungeness crab when I was there,, everything else was pretty great. They have multiple servers there for you to order continuously which was extremely helpful because you are never left wanting food. You can order as much or as little as you like which is a plus because my sisters and I like to try everything on the menu. Not a fan. I went to Fifer's because they are very close to my home and were open in Monday. This is decision I regret immensely. I purchased 2 dozen "jumbo" crabs at $125 a dozen. Very pricey and there was not a jumbo or heavy crab in the two dozen. My guests couldn't believe they were jumbo, and the comment was made that I should call back and complain. I also purchased 15lbs of snow crab legs. These were big, but so over seasoned and over cooked that they were barely edible.
