Love this place. There's nothing individually that is awesome about it but, collectively, it is just a really pleasant place that I like to visit often. It's a small business owned and operated by a charismatic Italian man. It's located on the west side of El Camino, just outside of downtown - so just a bit separated from the hustle and bustle. It's surrounded by trees with a partial view of a creek and there's lots of light. Food is good. Coffee/cafe latte does the job. I recommend it! read more

This is a new venue and I tried it for lunch yesterday. I got a pleasant surprise. I am now on a low-cholesterol diet. This venue offered a lot of wonderful egg dishes with very high cholesterol. I went to this little cafe on El Camino in San Mateo (near 3rd) for breakfast with a group from work. The omelet (veggie) was really delicious.. fresh and flavorful. Latte was good too. We were happy they had their back room so they could accomodate us. And we were pleasantly surprised that all of the food came out to us hot, and at the same time. After reading "italian" coffee and food I was anxious so Sunday morning I eent there,so disappointed, cute place but no Italian foods to have w/coffee other than biscotti. Love this place! Came here with some girlfriends after a walk along Sawyer Camp Trail. Great atmosphere - We sat outside in the sun, and the owner graciously brought out extra tables and chairs from inside to accommodate our group, and got us set up with a big umbrella. Inside there are 3 separate rooms: the main room where you order at counter, a really small room with 2 tables, and a larger study room. It felt cozy and intimate having different rooms and nooks. Delicious food - I have a chicken panini and salad, and everyone's food was great. The owner (I think? or someone working there) is Italian, and I heard him speaking in Italian with one of the customers. Creates a really warm and welcoming environment. This will be my first and last time giving this business the time of day. I had always driven past and thought I should stop by and try it. Every interaction with the staff members I interacted with was painful. Why should that be the case when you work serving people? Why can't you just be nice? When I was placing my order I asked if they could make a flat white. The guy at the register said they didn't have that. Hmmmm...you have espresso and steamed milk, but you can't put the two together to make a flat white? Ok. He offers me a macchiato and says it's basically the same thing. I have never had a macchiato and he works there so I figured he would know better. When I got the macchiato it was definitely not basically the same thing as a flat white. I asked for a latte instead. At that point they were annoyed and gave remaking my order no priority considering that a staff member led me to believe false information. From a business perspective this is your opportunity to do some damage control if customer service is important to you, but it clearly isn't important to them. When I went to check on my order because it was taking so long, they were annoyed. The old foreign man (probably Italian) was an a**hole. Oh and the croissant sandwich...what was that? How could you make an egg, ham and cheese croissant so poorly? F*** this place. read more

Best little cafe in San Mateo! Phillipo treats everyone like family, and the food is excellent. For breakfast - the Sicilian omelet, for lunch the turkey pesto panini with Brie and cranberry. I enjoy so much about Fiero Caffe. First, I enjoy hearing Italian words as I eat breakfast. Second, I like that the omelettes are served with a little bit of bread and potatoes. That way, I can enjoy my carbs without overeating. Third, I enjoyed hearing my husband remark, "This is good coffee." Lastly, I've been impressed with the service each time I've visited. This little spot has been adored for a long time for good reason. We walked there this morning for breakfast and we're delighted to find that it is perfect for children and kids at heart alike. Turkey and spinach eggs Benedict was delicious, home fries with red and green bell pepper and onion were tasty, too. Our baby enjoyed eating off of our plates, along with enjoying a bowl of fruit. I love this place! The food is so fresh and healthy, never greasy. They'll cook your eggs however you like. I always ask for the avocado on the side. Filipino is such a great greeter first thing in the morning or anytime! Always a good way to start my day! You'll leave feeling a little happier! Had an incident where there was a piece of plastic wrap or some sort of plastic inside my sandwich. I asked the employee who was dutifully walking around making sure everything was nice and tidy if I could mention something to him. I told him what my boyfriend bit into while taking a bite of my sandwich. He actually pulled the plastic film out of his mouth like 2 inches long don't know how the kitchen missed it. He said, oh that's not cool sorry about that and took the plastic wrap I suppose to show the kitchen, no idea. But left the sandwich (It was a whole half sandwich minus one plastic filled bite). A while went by. I thought to myself, now what? do you expect me to eat the rest. I didn't, I just left it there. Naturally, I was disgusted. The owner never came to say sorry. No acknowledgment whatsoever. Much later, what I did get was a stale cannoli. How much is that worth .50 cents? I don't like cannoli give me a pastry, something. My sandwich was $10.99. In my mind, I thought to myself, I don't want that, I'm still hungry I would like a replacement on the other half of my sandwich, PLEASE. I didn't want to be rude so I didn't complain but I wish I had. And, I'm pretty sure the owner knew it happened because he walked by us and tried to play it off it. He walked right by us. In fact, so close had we farted he would've smelled it. And he looked our way but did nothing. Dear Owner please stop trying to be charming with you bella this and bella that. Leccaulo. Instead focus on your customers and worry about your kitchen not leaving plastic film inside sandwiches, Idiota! read more
