Spaghetti carbonara
Laura L.

This is a very cute neighborhood cafe. You order at the counter, they give you a number, and you find a seat. It's great to sit here and just relax / slow down. I got the spaghetti carbonara which was a pretty large portion. It had a great creamy flavor but I wish they put more pancetta.

They have a wide variety of food here, would have loved a bit more breakfast items but it was still good! Cute indoor seating, very homey vibes. It is a quick service where you order and pay up front and then grab a table. Food was well made, good portions for sharing. There's some parking in front or right around the corner in the residential neighborhood.

Bruschetta, chicken panini & Penne Salmon Pasta!

Great food great service love the ambiance. Love to see how it's always so busy. You can't go wrong with the Penne Salmon and the Chicken panini the BEST!!!! Can't forget the Bruschetta and A latte! Delicious always!

Fiero hands down has my favorite pasta ever- my boyfriend and I order the rigatoni and the carbonara all the time and it just hits. The carbonara is so creamy and savory with the pancetta, and the rigatoni has this creamy tomato sauce that is absolutely perfect. The portions are pretty large too, I'm always full after eating here. I've also had the paninis and omelettes which are also delicious for something lighter. I've had the hot and iced coffee as well- the cappuccinos and lattes are amazing. I'd skip the iced coffee, which is a bit watery. I love how rustic and simple the menu is, but there are also plenty of options for pasta, eggs, omelettes, paninis, etc. The seating inside is also so cute- there's a little room in the back with a big window facing a garden, and the outdoor patio is really nice too. Huge plus is that it's dog friendly, even inside! It's definitely more of a casual spot which I love, and the owner (I'm assuming) is always so friendly when we come in! You pay upfront at the register, then sit down and wait for them to bring you your food and drinks. Fiero is an all time favorite and I'd definitely give the pasta a try if you're downtown for lunch!

Nice cafe vibes with lots of sunlight peeking in and a small area for outdoor seating. It was very busy and my friend said business is usually good here. We waited 30 plus minutes for food during weekday lunchtime. They completely forgot about my friend's coffee order which we reminded them when we eventually received our food. Service is very lacking. The owner is not warm. You have to stand in line to order food first before seating yourself.

not pictured: bruschetta it was devoured before my camera had a chance to capture it. the flavor on it was INSANE. I even ate the scrap tomatoes and lettuce off of the plate. very tasty, a must! not pictured: salmon on a bed of spinach, barely wilted, with capers. you could taste how fresh the fish was, cooked perfectly, with lemon drizzled on top this was great too. pizza: we added the pepperoni for an upcharge. the crust was thinner than my bedsheets, and somehow didn't fall apart even when I almost burned my fingers and mouth eating this as fast as I did. carbonara: not nearly as salty as I anticipated: in the best way! very light and creamy sauce, not overpowering at all. gnocchi: pillowy soft, pesto was amazing too! this sauce might be my favorite pesto of all time :) will be back to try the meat sauces/red sauces next time, and even the breakfast too! side note: bathroom was clean (can only speak for the women's bathroom), water dispenser for self-serve water, small fridge with sodas and italian soda in the back, great seating areas and we lucked out with parking in front ($0.50/30 minutes)

2/19/24 Zach and I stopped by Fiero Caffe for brunch. We always drive by it on El Camino and finally decided to check it out. We were able to park right in front. When we get there, you order, pay and then get a number and sit down. Here's what we got: - Smoked salmon omelet + large coffee (his) - Vegetarian omelet (mine) The owner/manager told us that the food would take 10 minutes to come out and he was true to his word. There's nice homey and cozy vibe to the caffe. The omelet is fairly large with lots of cheese and veggies (smoked salmon for him). The bread that came with it is soft and not rock hard. The salad is a little bitter, but a nice contrast to the very savory and cheesy taste of the omelet. Just a note, there are no free refills for coffee, you'll have to shell out $1. We liked the food and the atmosphere. As we were waiting for our food to come, we saw various pasta dishes that looked super good. We will definitely be back to try those out.

Five stars for sure! One of my regular places to go to. Lately they added to the menu a pizza and it's amazing (I ordered the marinara with anchovies). They keep the menu simple . They're not changing it very often. I love the fact that the homeowner is always there and working, and you can really see how he loves his business and his customers.

If you call in to place an order, instead of saying they're busy, they'll put you on hold indefinitely.

Can 8 of us sit outside for coffee and danishes?

I don't recall a large amount of outdoor seating. There is a nice airy room indoors, however.

Food (6/10) - I have mixed feelings about the food. On the one hand, all the appetizers were absolutely DELICIOUS. The creamery burrata with the slightly charred bread had an amazing crunchy texture that was followed by the smoothness of the burrata. The bone marrow had a super rich flavor (that also paired great with the focaccia). On the other hand, I wasn't the biggest fan of the entrees, which arguably, should be the stars of the meal. The mint with the lamb was definitely interesting and added a nice zing. I wasn't a super big fan of the overall lamb taste and texture though. The lamb's pull apart texture reminded me a lot of ribs (which is FINE) but didn't give me that characteristic lamb flavor. Since it was slow braised, that kind of flavor was lost. Additionally, the pasta was extremely chewy and borderline hard. I fully understand the concept of al dente BUT this was not a pleasant mouth feel. It was such a strange texture to bite straight through the pasta with this super firm texture. Price (5/10) - This kind of restaurant is bound to be expensive; you can kind of read from the vibe. I just don't find this place to be particularly worth the cost. I'm sure they use "the freshest ingredients" but the taste is not reflective on the price. I've had comparable or better food for cheaper and much better food for relative prices. Even a small pasta dish costs $30+. Ambiance (7/10) - The dark ambient lighting is intended to "set the mood" but it's just so dark in there :') Service (10/10) - What they do hit on is the amazing service of a restaurant like this! The servers are super friendly and amazing. They know the menu well and give great recommendations. Overall, this particular restaurant wasn't my cup of tea but I can understand if you ARE a fan. Give it a try if you're a fan of Italian but I wouldn't make the trip again.

My group shared a couple of charcuterie board appetizers and split a margherita pizza. I liked the charcuterie boards. But the pizza was a bit too soggy for my liking and was falling apart. For my main, I got the pappardelle. This was delicious! The pasta was perfectly al dente and chewy, and the dish was pretty flavorful. But the dish could've used some freshly grated cheese. I also tried a variety of dessert items, most of which were pretty good. The restaurant was packed when I was there, but service was still great and very attentive.

We stared with a huge spread of anti pasta dishes - the rolled eggplant was amazing - the caprese salad was so fresh and amazing -pesto on toast was also a hit - the fresh mozzarella and prosciutto was amazing everything we had was excellent! The pasta course another hit - they make their own spinach ravioli and you can tell - I'm not usually a fan of ravioli but I had 3 beautiful plump raviolis - the marinara sauce yummy! Gnocchi my favorite- soft tender pillows with a beautiful cream sauce excellent! At this point I was FULL yet we still had the entree course - had a very small taste of the veal which would have been top on my list if I hadn't been so full - love the capers in this dish! Oh I had head about their Tiramisu! And guess what we had for dessert! Yes this is made in house too - very light yet full body flavored! Next time I'm going direct to dessert! I can't say enough positive things about the service here! These people are amazing - they were always clearing plates- offering refills of water or drinks- helping parents with children for food! If you're going to entertain a group this is the place! Yes parking can be intimidating as there is only street parking but at some point you will find a space. Great people with awesome food!

We went on a slow night and still dealt with a total "slow turnaround" and some classic operational gaffes. They couldn't find the bottle of wine we actually wanted and then spent way too much time trying to sell us on a different bottle we had zero interest in. It was a bit of a circus just to get the basics situated. But then the food arrived, and that's where the magic happened. I've seen reviews complaining about a "lack of flavor," but that was not our experience at all. We started with the beet salad--the honey-lemon notes were nice, though nothing to write home about. But once the mains hit, everything changed. The Carpaccio was spot on, the Ribeye (prepared perfectly to medium) was delicious, and the Branzino special was fantastic. And the Rigatoni Rustica? Believe the hype. It's a classic for a reason. Bottom line: The service is definitely sloppy, but I wouldn't dismiss this place because of it. The food is genuinely good Italian and the prices are reasonable for Burlingame. My advice? Skip the salads, ignore the service "monkey dance," and go straight for the classics. I'd definitely go back just for the steak and the Rigatoni alone. Highly recommended if you actually care about what's on your plate. An A++ local find.
