This was such a hyped-up place, so we had to come try it for ourselves. There was a long line, but drinks were coming out quickly, and the process was very efficient. The only downside was that the service felt a bit unfriendly. It could simply be because they were extremely busy, but the interaction felt a little rushed and short. We We ordered the Velvety Matcha Champaca and Premium Jasmine Milk Tea. The matcha was just okay -- nothing particularly impressive or memorable. The jasmine milk tea had a nice fragrance from the tea leaves and you could tell they used quality tea and brewed it properly, but the flavor was unfortunately very watered down. Overall, I appreciate the quality of the tea ingredients and the efficient operation, but the drinks didn't quite live up to the hype for me.
I've visited here twice including on a Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. Both times fairly busy but I got my order within about 5 minutes! ORDER Premium Jasmine Milk Tea Peach Oolong Milk Tea STARS (stand out qualities) -Drink (5/5 stars) - very good quality tea and milk ; great ratio of both -Service (4/5 stars) - fast and effective -Ambiance (4/5 stars) - just big enough to buy drinks and there small area of merchandise if anyone is interested STAIRS (areas of growth) -For a first timer, it feels a bit overwhelming and I recommend simplifying or improving the flow of the signs TIPS -Signs recommend 70% sweetness since there drinks are not very sweet -Watch out for strong tea contents if you are sensitive to caffeine -You can order from two kiosk inside the store and QR code displayed on sign outside -Sign up for Molly Tea app to access discounts
I'm obsessed! It's hard to find a boba shop that stand out from the overwhelming options. Molly Tea blew my mind as the jasmine tea which is often subdued, came through even with matcha. The drink I got was creamy, fragrant, and perfectly matcha balanced! Found a new favorite drink and so glad I tried this location. It was so easy to order. Recommend: Matcha White Champaca salted cheese
The line is not nearly as long as it used to be but this location still has great business. You can order at 2 kiosks or online and you just pick up your drink there. No indoor seating but they do have outdoor seating scattered everywhere along the closed off street. I used to LOVE Molly tea but I think my body can't take all the sugar and milk anymore. I would either decrease sweetness or opt for their more natural teas.

I usually order the Jasmine green milk tea and also enjoy the floral notes, so it's likely a matter of taste. My spouse ordered a Tongmu Lapsang milk tea, which was a smooth black tea. A bit pricey but you can tell the tea is good quality. Service was quick and drinks can even be ordered ahead online through chowbus. It's right on the San Mateo blocked off strip (keep in mind you will have to walk to get here as you cannot drive right up), so while there's no indoor seating, there is public seating outdoors.

MT entered the U.S. market via a flagship store in Flushing, New York. Migrating across the U.S., and trekking locally from Cupertino. The floral fragrances and notes are similar to what you'd discern in fine wines. The San Mateo site is small, but seemingly operationally efficient, decor light, bright and minimalist modern so popular and welcoming. Walk in and orders are taken via three kiosks. Advance orders can be done on their website online. Plenty of staff behind the scenes processing the orders but not much direct face to face help will happen. Including deciphering their Jasmine tea levels. They seem to have quite a few sets of buttons or pins displayed along the walls that MT fans collect. After ordering milk tea, most congregate outside checking the Orders Board (Ready, In-Progress) until it's time to pick up the order. Tried the TONGMU LAPSANG MILK TEA, no sugar, regular ice, added Crystal Boba. The black tea from Wuyi Mountain, Fujian province, exudes a gentle, almost perfumed fragrance but I'm afraid the elegance of it was lost on me. I enjoy the ubiquitous HK Milk Tea that started it all for me, adding Boba and ice much later. And the really Western part of me savors a bold Earl Grey Milk Tea wherever and whenever I can find it. Feat not, MOLLY TEA is a huge success since it opened a few months ago. With crowds waiting outside for their orders everyday. Give it a try. The masses cannot be wrong...
Been to this location a few times and always got the premium Jasmine Milk Tea and it's DELICIOUS. If I can give this place a 4.5 stars I would. The only reason why I'm only docking a star off is because the entrance/doorway is always so crowded and it can be confusing as to who is waiting to order via the kiosk or the ones who are waiting to pick up their order, and going in and out the door. Feels like it's a safety hazard with all of the crowds. You order on the kiosk and enter in your phone number and it will give you a number to pick up. While you wait you can see the number on the screen that your drink is ready. Besides the crowd, the drink itself is VERY good. It is so light and not sweet at all. I've always finished the drink in less than 30 minutes and always want more haha. I love that the caffeine has not kept me up (which is great). I wish they would have MORE locations all around! It's my most favorite tea place ever!

Their menu advertised a buy one, get one free promotion on the pecan topping, so I ordered two, expecting to receive four toppings total. When I picked up my order, I was told they weren't honoring the promotion, so I only received the two toppings that I paid for. It wasn't a huge amount of money, but it was frustrating because the promotion was still being advertised. It felt more like a matter of principle than the $2. To make matters worse, the date printed on the pecan topping package was 01/15/2026. Even if that wasn't the expiration date and was instead the manufacturing date, the package states that the shelf life is six months, which would still make it expired. That was pretty concerning. We also ordered the Snowy Jasmine and the Matcha White Champaca. Unfortunately, neither drink tasted like they normally do. Both were noticeably off compared to previous visits. That said, this is still one of my favorite tea shops. I'm hoping this was just an off day because I'll definitely continue coming back. I just hope they pay closer attention to promotions and product quality.
First time here. Jasmine apple milk with white pearls was nice. Service was a kiosk machine. server just called out number and I picked up. Standard boba shop. Menu had a lot of options I had not seen before. Worth a second visit.
I got the jasmine apple milk tea with white boba and it was a little bitter and the boba isn't the typical boba texture so it threw me off a little bit. But I really like the champaca milk tea a lot. I'm glad the cue is a lot better now but it does get busy
The big trick is to order ahead via the food delivery apps if you want to avoid the wait. The good news is even if you don't order ahead, the orders go by fairly quickly. Stopped by on a weekday afternoon and the wait was pretty long, but they took orders fairly quickly and all in probably took about 15-20 minutes. The tea is definitely strong and flavorful and they didn't have any boba/bubbles at the time. As far as tea quality goes, this place has some high quality tea, but also lacks the variety of sugary drinks that you might find at other boba shops. Part of their schtick is also the fact that you sip from extremely thin straws, like coffee stirrers. Overall, the staff was nice and they were able to get drinks out quickly. Just expect to wait a bit and also pay a higher price for just tea.

Honestly came here just to see what the hype was all about. Like why were there swarms of people here past 9pm?! Anyway, I wasn't disappointed and will come back to try more flavors. They have the option of ordering online so you won't have to physically stand in line. Got a cute little freebie, too. read more
If you are from Sacramento area: It is kind of like Jasmine Tea House in Davis, CA, except you have to pay parking and it's only takeout with some benches outside. The tea is strong / leaning towards a little bitter side. Very fragrant. You can change to oat milk without extra charge. I went at weekend during lunch time but the wait wasn't that long. Finallllly got to try Molly Tea after waiting for the lines to die down from the grand opening so I'm not waiting 45 minutes for a boba Short-version: I realllly liked the Camellia Oolong milk tea :) We had sago in it but yeah, it's such a unique (in a good way) treat with tasteful floral notes that makes every sip sing. The sago was beautifully done as well (as someone who overly loves boba haha) - and would 100% recommend this drink (and Molly Tea) to be such a standout than your everyday boba. Finally got to try Molly Tea for the first time recently. The shop itself is small so it's more of a grab-and-go kind of place. I ordered a Premium Jasmine Matcha. The jasmine was fragrant and delicious. The matcha cheese added a nice creaminess to the drink without overpowering the jasmine. It was a nice combination, and I really enjoyed the drink. I love jasmine and this being my first time, I had to get a jasmine drink. However, I would love to try one of their other tea drinks next time. read more

Not worth it or tasty in my books, sorry lol. I have given them tries to like it but I just cannot, it's all hype and trend imo. The tea flavor is so light, very weak tasting. I'm always disappointed. You can't taste much. The floral scent is not really coming through, even though the store is fragrant smelling. The camellia matcha just tasted like a matcha drink on the bitter side. The premium jasmine milk tea tasted like very watery milk with faint jasmine flavor. So bland. For the taste it's not worth $7. soo sad :( read more
Ok I finally understood why this place always has a line. I pre ordered the coconut drink with pistachio foam and sago pearls per Claude's recommendation and I was not disappointed. This isn't your regular boba spot and in fact you can't get regular boba as an add on - only the transparent, bursting kind is available. It was a very hot day and this was the perfect drink to quench my thirst. I didn't know too much about the difference between the other types of teas but I'll be back to try more. read more
Very busy store even at night time. I finally stopped by to order after couple months since it opened eve though I pass by it so often. It is just because most of the drink have milk and I don't like tea with milk. The store is small with 2 touch screen ordering kiosk but it was not organized nicely as I can see people just cut the line when ordering even though they came after us. Ordering is simple as the menu is clear. As it was very busy, it took a while for the order to be ready. The pistachio white Champacca coconut was good. This one has no dairy. read more
Molly Tea originates from Shenzhen with many locations worldwide. Even though I usually avoid caffeine in the evenings, I couldn't pass up the chance to try one of their drinks. The shop is small and there was quite a crowd. You can order at the kiosks inside, but I scanned the QR code and ordered from my phone. There is a monitor at the window so you can see when your order number is ready. I went with the premium jasmine matcha at 50% sweetness and loved it. It was floral and the matcha was perfect. I love that they have a kiosk because there are so many drink options and customization options. You can also order online which is helpful. I ordered 3 drinks and they were all great. The stand out drink was the Premium Jasmine Mango Coconut Tea, sugar 50%, with sago add on. It was perfect on a hot day. The cream was delicious on its own and mixed in. The mango was perfectly sweet. I will be getting this again. The Camellia Oolong Milk Tea, less ice, and sugar 70% was enjoyable. The Dancong Oolong Milk Tea, less ice, and sugar 70% was also enjoyable. You can really taste the unique floral notes and flavors of both teas. The staff was very patient. They asked every customer if they'd like the Easter sticker sheet and patiently asked if the customers didn't hear them the first time. read more
There was a long line at this Molly Tea location on a weekday night, but luckily the line moved quickly through self service kiosks and fast drink-making. While there is no space for seating inside the boba shop, there is plenty of outdoor seating in this bustling downtown area. I tried their Gardenia Milk Tea with oat milk and boba recently, and it did not disappoint! The drink was very light and paired well with their chewy boba, and there's not that many boba spots that get the floral, gardenia taste down. read more

This is a new-ish spot in Downtown San Mateo for boba. We ordered the snowy jasmine ($7.99) and jasmine apple milk tea ($8.28). Both were delicious! The teas tasted more authentic than other boba places I've tried and I liked the stronger tea flavor. The jasmine infused whipped cream and pecans on top pulled my drink together. I wasn't sure if I'd like the nuts but they added a nice crunch. You can order ahead online which is helpful because the line can get long. When I showed up to pick up my mobile order, after getting a text that it was ready, the employee seemed confused? It took him some time to find my drinks after giving both my name and order number. My new favorite tea spot! Definitely lives up to the hype. I got the pistachio coconut jasmine tea and it was the perfect blend of creamy, coconuty, nutty, and floral. Not too sweet not too bland and it had beautiful presentation as well. The tea tasted high quality without any bitterness. The line was super long but the wait was worth it. I understand the hype. I'd rate this place a 4.5 stars out of 5. We stumbled upon this place on a Tuesday evening around 6PM and there were lots of people purchasing drinks. We were in town to visit the Thai spot across the corner but wanted someone hot to drink while walking around downtown. Both my friend and I have been taking a hiatus from drink milk tea and Boba drinks, because it's been getting pricier and we've gotten pickier with the quality. Especially after we started going to Chicha San Chen, it's completely ruined other spots for us. This place smelled fragrant the moment we walked in, which sealed the deal for ordering two drinks to try. You can often tell the quality from the fragrance of the tea leaves. We order the top two sellers: - Jasmine milk tea, hot 50% sugar, 4/5 stars - The tea was fragrant and smooth, but my friend and I both agree it could be even more fragrant. That's why it's a 4/5 and not a 5/5, but it was nonetheless a good quality jasmine tea. - Snowy peach oolong, hot, 30% sugar 5/5- The Oolong was a nice strong and smooth flavor, the peach was subtle, but paired with the jasmine whipped cream and the nutty pecan, the flavor was divine. It was the perfect combo when I grabbed a little spoon and got a little scoop of the whipped cream with pecan and a sip of the tea altogether. I generally like strong tea, for both my Oolong, Jasmine and Matcha, but the oolong being a little more subtle allowed the peach flavor to shine. A stronger flavor would probably be too overwhelming in this case. The balance was perfect, the only thing I'd change is increasing the sweetness to 50% next time. The only other thing we'd like to note, the Jasmine milk tea has a oatmilk option, but not the other milk teas which was a little disappointing. So if you can't drink dairy, your options are limited(or bring lactaid!). Overall, we thought this place was good and we were not disappointed. The prices were high, like most other milk tea spots nowadays($6-$8 per cup). We would still rank the quality of this tea to be slightly below Chicha San Chen. If we were in town, we'd definately swing by and order again but we wouldn't go out of our way for a drink here. read more
Tried the Camellia Matcha and it was really good. The matcha cheese added a rich, smooth, buttery nice fluffy texture & creamy flavor. Great menu selection and the shop looks very aesthetically pleasing. The store is small, but the QR code ordering is a smart idea, so the customers can sit outside and wait. The wait time also isn't that long, they have a lot of staff working inside to speed the process. There are also a couple of self-order kiosks inside. For the quality the prices felt fair. Parking lot and street parking are available nearby. Highly recommend if you're craving good matcha. read more
We visited Molly Tea in Downtown San Mateo on a Tuesday afternoon, and it was slightly busy when we arrived. Ordering was done through an iPad, which made the process quick and easy. We ordered the Snowy Jasmine and the Camellia Matcha, and both drinks were good and enjoyable. This location is noticeably smaller compared to some of their other locations, but it still worked well for a quick stop for drinks. read more

I was so excited to try Molly tea because I love jasmine tea. We ordered the premium jasmine green tea, white champaca milk tea, and pistachio jasmine coco. All were delicious!! I love how the jasmine taste is super strong and all their drinks were well balanced. The inside is small, so I recommend ordering ahead if you don't want to wait. read more
this was also back in April, so the bag design might differ now. everyone and their mama (and papa, and granny, and dog) have heard of molly tea by now. I was just excited we finally got one in California/close enough to try it out. I was overwhelmed with choices. I was told by my milk-tea-only-loving friends have even opted for JUST tea drinks because that's how good it is. I didn't even know what that meant/looked like. I did some digging, and this was one of their most popular drinks - jasmine apple milk tea. NON DAIRY!! and superb. it was so floral, I never had jasmine tea taste like a candle but in a good way. the apple was subtle and the drink all around was so refreshing. mind you, I only had this to go and after the 25 minute drive to Daly City, so I can only imagine if it was fresher. I don't know it I could wait in a super long queue for this spot, but you should know at least it's good! hopefully I get the full experience here next time. read more
