The food and coffee were flawless and the owner seemed great. Everything was really fresh. Even the basic arugula and navel orange salad was surprisingly good, bacon was done to perfection, and the avocado was fresh and delicious. It's overall a low-key, chill place. This place is like the neighborhood shop I'd walk to quite often if I lived close enough. It's unusual in having good coffee without trying too hard with contemporary decor, uncomfortable chairs, and artisan everything. The place would have been a lot more pleasant if we weren't sitting next to a rather animated, loud couple on what appeared to be one of the earlier dates in a likely relationship to-be (yay!). But the backroom where we sat is really cute and we sat right by the window. Excellent service, delicious and fresh food, and fantastic coffee. So refreshing to eat breakfast/brunch in the Bay without waiting in line and feeling like cattle. It's diced bell peppers onions and sausage with mushrooms - different than most omelettes that just throw huge chunks of the stuff in - unexpected and quite good. The plate was well thought out too - lightly dressed salad, yummy toast slices - some greens some carbs to balance out the plate. Bruschetta was big and tasty. This is by far one of my new favorite places. The place is rather concealed and once you go in, it feels like you've found a treasure. There are serene places through out the coffee shop to study, with views of the back garden and also of the street. It's so cozy! Now, to my order...I had an Americano. One of the most tasty and flavorful coffees I've had. My first waft and I could already tell it was of good and loving quality. In the small back room, the main room with bar seating, a side room with a couch or right outside. The menu is simple, consisting of mostly omelettes, panini, and baked goods. I love the place, the owner is very friendly, great service, but I had one issue. I Was excited about the chicken parmegiana and when I received it, it looked very nice, nice plating, everything. The issue was I couldn't cut through the chicken. I thought maybe it was just me but the moment I put it in my mouth, I couldn't chew it. I tried my hardest to pass it down my throat but I couldn't and I felt so sad because it looked good and the flavor was really good and i had very high expectations. Maybe I was a rare case and this usually doesn't happen but I'm just disappointed. I plan on coming back but my first visit wasn't the best. The worst part is that it was kind of pricy, not too bad, but you would hope it would be so much better. The chicken was soooo rubbery and dry. I had never had anything like it. I'll give it a second Chance though probably. I really liked the owner and the place. Great for studying. The only bad part is parking. But its dealable. I actually sat next to the open windows and a huge bee flew in. I was terrified but I sucked it up. It was there next to me most of my visit but its okay. I know it won't happen to anyone lol. Where's the friendly guy everyone's been writing about? Does he have an evil twin, or does the guy have a bad case of mood swing. I observed how he served the other customers. Not exactly touchy and feely, but he seemed to have return customers and he remembers what they typically order. For whatever reason he was off today, I don't like unfriendly service, and therefore won't make excuse for it. It shouldn't be such a differentiation from customer to customer as well. I loved their lasagna simply because, they put a lot of sauce on it so it's really good and you can actually put some sauce on your garlic bread (that is if you're into it) nways i also loved their pastrami. Pretty good. Was found on a celiac site as having gluten free options for some afflicted family members but we were rather disappointed on that front- no better than any other restaurant. The coffee was good. The sticky bun and chocolate chip cookies were also pretty dang tasty. The omelets were basic and traditional. The staff and patrious were Bay-Area-pretentious (very diffremt from hipster, Sonoma pretentious). The service was good, however, dispite the aura they emmited. Theyveven went out of their way to accomidate our group of 6 in a cafe better suited for 2-4 top tables. The lovation was bright, modern, and open.
