They don't give out pints of beer but you do get a free flight, and then can fill up growlers and either go home or go to the brick oven pizza place connected next door! I hate IPA's, historically they were not made to taste good, the whole concept of their popularity now is a joke, that being said this is one of the better ones (still IPAs suck). Now their non-IPA offerings are some of the best beers I've ever tasted, the Hodad Porter may be the best porter ever, and is not to be missed. I've enjoyed beer from here in the past and stopped in this afternoon to bring some back to the cottage. I'm not a big fan of hop so I had planned to sample a couple before committing to a growler. I was served about a tablespoon of one style and was hoping to try another but after close to 10 minutes waiting for a bartender to come back to me, I gave up. It wasn't crowded and the bar tenders were having nice chats with the locals, and people who walked in after me, and then the woman who first gave me the drop to taste started counting her tips, and I was just waiting in the exact same spot with an empty growler in front of me. "Are they stoned?" I wondered. "Am I suddenly invisible?" How does a bartender offer you one sample and not return to provide another? I'm on vacation and I wasn't in a rush, but when you start to wonder if anyone is going to serve you, it's time to leave. read more

Amazing beer and friendly staff. Have had fiddlehead at concerts and bars in the past but had not been to the brewery until recently. Definitely one of my favorite breweries and the growlers are reasonably priced. The parking lot gets a little congested but the beer is worth it. read more

Bizarre experience Saturday where the goatee wearing guy running the register was obviously drunk or stoned. Double charged us for two growlers. This bar has poor style and beer that tastes like watered-down Tang. The tables were dirty. The service was meh but not rude. Skip it.

First a preface: I always want to support a local brewery. And give praise where it's due. Walked in, they had a small crowd at the counter. With growlers at $10, that's not a bad rate for a true nanobrew. +1. Friendly enough staff from the start. +1. So it's pretty much a sample, buy, go home operation. No place to hang out, save for the pizza place next door (which I have yet to try, though it looked very inviting). -1/2. We sampled a hefeweizen and their stock IPA. The Hef was probably the better of the two. I'm not a huge fan of hef's, but it was decent. I say it was the better of the two because the IPA, a variety of beer in which I indulge regularly, left me without much of an impression- a non-event. Just lacking nose, body- it didn't come on as an IPA, but more a pale ale- and a mediocre one at that. Disappointing? Very. -2. We told the guy serving us we were all set- and we noticed the guy wasn't too pleased we weren't going to buy anything. We each had a test drive, and weren't interested in buying it. Sorry, but it happens. -1. Given the other VT breweries around- Alchemist, Lawson's, Hill Farmstead- these guys need to work on some original, strong showings in the categories they are selling under if they want four or five stars. So far, they're not close to that level. But it doesn't mean they can't do it. At this point, it's more a spot for tourists to stopover on their travels in the Champlain Valley corridor. read more

Last week I plundered VT's breweries for their fine IPAs. Today, now that I'm back home I opened a can of the Second Fiddle to enjoy while watching the Master's. It was outstanding. Yesterday I had a Heady Topper and Sip of Sunshine from the can but the Fiddlehead I drank from a frosty glass. The Fiddlehead had a great "hoppy" taste but just seemed easier to drink. Perhaps it was the drinking out of the glass.?.?? Either way, I'm glad I stopped here and thankful they had cans available. I brought home 3 four packs to share with friends. I plan on making another beer run to VT in the summer and hope to grab more. read more

This place is great!! The bartenders were super nice. The beer is phenomenal. They are in the middle of renovations but that didn't stop a great environment and top notch service. The growlette (or growlito as our bartender called it) was a reasonable price for some outstanding IPA. The gear is super cute. My only complaint was no credit card tips. In September , stopped in folino"s for some pizza and some tasters from fiddlehead. Small brewery , friendly folk and fell in love with their mastermind IPA. Bought some cans for a following day hike up Mt. Mansfield. Got to the top and we took a rest to enjoy a deli sandwich from a local underhill deli while enjoying the panoramic view of camels hump to lake champlain and beyond. Polished off my thermos loaded with 2 cans of mastermind and the only thought that crossed my mind was - DANG LIFE'S GOOD. Which brings me to my begging request of fiddlehead brewery - PLEASE ship me a 55 gallon keg of mastermind to Lecanto Fl. Be your friend FOREVER LOL. On the serious side , DON'T ever stop brewing mastermind , that would be a sin. See yall after the snow melts , and yes I will be thirsty for some awesome mastermind :))) read more

Upon returning to the brewery this weekend, I was slightly let down. The IPA tasted a little different from the first batch I had and I'm wondering if something changed between those few weeks or if I had just been drowning my tastebuds a bit this weekend. I also was surprised to see a growler was $12 + $3 deposit. It's great beer, but is a slightly high price for a half gallon of beer. Still excited to see where they go from here. read more

Had a great time in here. The rain was pouring crazy hard so we decided to stop and wait it out, what a great decision. The samples are free! (They only had the flagship IPA at the time we were there but served plenty of it). The staff were really friendly and fun to talk with - gave us some good advice on where else to visit on our trip. First - I truly enjoy Fiddleheads beer - however the store front is extremely poorly thought out and poorly run - on weekend evenings the line is long and moves so slowly because some are enjoying the free tastings - while those who just want to buy the beer they know they want, must wait in line and watch people sip their tasters for 5 minutes - create a line for those who know what they want - over even have some growlers pre-poured - the situation is truly frustrating and it makes the customers feel completely taken for granted and that fiddlehead does not care at all their regular customers - or for the folks who would like to join their table next door for dinner at Folino's - honestly it is should be a case study in pour management (pun intended) - please fix it Fiddlehead!!! read more

First, Fiddlehead is brewing excellent beer. This low review is based on our experience at the brewery, not the product. After tasting a very good, piney pale ale, I asked if they used Cascade hops. The gentleman serving replied tersely that they didn't give out that information. Rather surprised, I said that I wasn't asking for their apparently secret hop composition, only whether it contained Cascade hops. He laughed sarcastically and said it was the same thing. I'm a home brewer, and this experience is completely at odds with my experience with Vermont breweries and brewhouses, most of whom are happy to share information and view the inquiry as a compliment. This is a tiny little brewery which hardly seems in the position to alienate customers. In any event, I won't visit again, nor will I ever order a Fiddlehead beer again. There are too many other excellent and friendly breweries in Vermont. read more

Stopped here while visiting Burlington, and boy am I glad we did! We wandered in on a rainy day, not really knowing what to do once inside. The girl behind the counter was super helpful and made us feel very welcomed. She was very well versed in the brewing process and knowledgable about all the beers she poured us. We sampled the Fiddlehead IPA, which we had been consuming all weekend, so we knew we liked. We also sampled a double IPA, which is one of their special brews (which no two are the same) and one other that I can't quite remember. They were all fantastic, but I took home a growler of the double IPA, and my partner in crime took home the signature IPA. Also picked up a few cool pint glasses. After we sampled we headed next door to the pizza place, and I kid you not, this was some of the best pizza I have EVER had. This was our last stop before we came back to CT and I am so very happy we decided to stop! read more

Came all the way from Boston to enjoy Burlington Vermont and check out the local breweries. This one was on the top of our list. When we arrived the bartender was very busy cleaning and barely greeting guest. She didn't explain how the tap room or pizzeria worked. Multiple guests were just staring waiting to get instructions or anything really. She didn't offer any specs about the beer on tap. There was only one beer on tap and to drive so far I thought I would be able to try more. We missed out on cans and while we could have taken a growler we are from out of town and that didn't make sense. Overall very underwhelming experience. I expected more to have such a good IPA. read more
