We went to Fibber Mcgees the first night of our vacation at Sunset Beach. Very friendly staff. We had our dog with us and they welcomed us on the outdoor patio where there was plenty of shade as well as fans. Even though they were very busy, we were able to order in a timely manner. Our food was fresh, well prepared (blackened mahi mahi and fish tacos) and quite tasty. They even brought fresh water for the dog and made the experience quite enjoyable. Great menu with something for everyone! Perfect spot for lunch. Smaller place, I don't recommend for big dinners. Service is quick and professional. Salmon wrap and sandwich are both to die for. Although, the sandwich "to go" was interesting and as left it open faced in the box, put the mayonnaise on the side instead of on the sandwich, didn't include utensils to actually put the Mayo on AND placed the bag of chips directly on the salmon IN the box ‍ regardless, I certainly recommend this place and we'll be back! We went to Fibber McGees and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. My wine was excellent, their ribs were wonderful! My table mates had fried fish filets, they were very pleased with them. We were seated outside and they had to start up the heaters as it got a bit chilly. The wait staff was super efficient and helpful. Came here with my family for an early dinner. Their patio is simply amazing. So many fans to keep cool and they were willing to move tables around to seat our party in the shade. Great service didn't end there, our waitress was phenomenal throughout the entire meal. Hats off to her. Loved that they had GF bread options. I ordered the salmon BLT on GF bread. Unfortunately the bread was so soggy by the time it hit the table, I had to eat it with a fork and knife. Everyone else loved their meal. My husband got the French dip said he could eat here every time he came to the beach. Husband enjoyed the Moscow mule, my mom enjoyed her Bloody Mary, but The margarita wasn't great- Tasted like straight sour mix. Went here twice last week. Once for takeout and a second time for eat "in". Both were good experiences. They have designated spots to pick up takeout and they are timely and courteous. An efficient system. When we ate there we sat out side in one of their enclosures. Very comfortable. Service was very good both times. And food was high quality. read more

Stopped for lunch at Fibber's after driving by for years (theres always a crowd on the patio!) Happy we finally got around to it. They've done a creditable job of recreating the intimacy if an actual Irish Pub, and the waitress we dealt with was super energetic and pleasant. She took excellent care of us. I had the She Crab Soup, and the Reuben Rolls from the appetizer menu. Both were great. I was especially impressed with the rolls. I highly recommend both. The soup is very tasty but also VERY rich and creamy, so I would have done better if I'd ordered the cup rather than the bowl. Be warned. By wife had a bread bowl with Tomato Florentine soup and a salad. She declared it good, but wadn't feeling great, so don't judge by her tepid response, judge by my enthusiasm! read more

I am giving it a 4 because it is local and a golf cart ride away. However, since the change in ownership the Chicken Caesar Salad which was my favorite in the past is now pathetic. I gave it a second chance, but was still very disappointed. There were just these little thin strips of chicken barely cooked and definitely not grilled. Stingy amount of Romaine lettuce & salad dressing dressing. I didn't really see any Parmesan cheese and most of the croutons were soggy. Don't ask for extra Caesar dressing because even though there was very little on the salad Fibbers charges you an extra 50 cents. It isn't that I mind spending an extra 50 cents, but I am already paying almost $17.00 for what seems to more like a side salad, and it is sup par. read more

My friend and I are first time guest at the restaurant. No expectations but ready to experience something new. Sitting outside under an umbrella with fans blowing proved a comfortable experience in the summer heat I order the crab/shrimp dip which was delicious.. however, the pita bread was not soft but rather hard. This place a lovely outdoor seating patio where the tables are spaced well for social-distancing. It does overlook the parking lot, but the plants provide a nice distraction. The grilled shrimp was delicious! The Caesar salad was crisp, but a bit heavy on the dressing for me. The extra lettuce I asked for did the trick. The shrimp were big, cooked perfectly, and super tasty. My mom's shrimp salad sandwich was also delicious; it was light and came on a croissant. The fish and chips (but with "okay" homemade onion rings instead) were made of haddock. I don't prefer haddock over cod, but my husband enjoyed it okay. It was crispy, not greasy at all. The service was good, but I did get the feeling I was bothering her. Plus my parents went back later, but nothing they wanted was available (and it's already a small menu) so they left. They made them pay for their soda and tea though, which I found pretty tacky. But again, the food was pretty good! read more

My wife and I discovered Fibber McGees bc my wife wanted to try it. We thought it was a Tiki Bar when we drove past bc of the light strings. WE WERE WRONG! It is an Irish Pub, complete with Pub Grub. We were given the background by a "regular ". Derived from the "scrap" oak from a demolished 1800s Church' the place is FANTASTIC. Never have we seen a more spectacular Pub, not even in N. Y. where the Oak originated. Menu is WOW! All fresh. Appetizers were fantastic. We were there 4 times in 3 days Lunch and supper. A culinary arts trained chef makes gourmet salads, appetizers and entrees. Seafood salad was great as was a wrap with the salad. Ahi tuna seared was my fav. They ran out bc all is fresh. 5 scallops appetizer, roast beef sandwich with jus, none better. Patriotic owner and congenial patrons. Sorry we had to leave for home. WILL BE BACK IN FALL. read more

Please do not waste a part of your vacation by going here. The food is below par and not even remotely worth the price. I hope you don't enjoy tasting your food because this may be some of the blandest food I've ever had. The mahi was actually cooked well, but that's negated by the fact that there was only a few flecks of pepper to season it (if that). You may enjoy this place if you don't care for sanitation. As you're waiting for the single use bathroom, you can peer right into the kitchen where you can see workers handling the lettuce to your salad without any gloves. The front of house staff does this fun thing where they like to blame the kitchen for any mistakes to your order. I thought I was being pranked. We waited an hour to be seated & another 20 minutes just to get 4 waters, WATERS! Honestly no one knows that their doing. When we finally got the waiters attention, he sat down at our table to take our orders. When half of our table ordered the fried calamari it was announced to us they were out. The table next to us had 3 different servers ask if they had ordered 3 different times. No one gave us the slightest bit of attention. Nobody is aware of their sections. It takes 30 minutes just to get a cup of soup?? No!! Save yourself the time and stress and go somewhere else. The food was maybe sub par and it was supposed to be "nicer dining", false. Shrimp burger is FANTASTIC! You wouldn't expect it, but the nachos are delicious too (probably because of their homemade chili). The grouper bites are always fresh caught and it's obvious. Yum! Wine selection is limited, but the food and outdoor patio seating make up for that. read more

The hostess and our original server, Trace, were very nice and accommodating for our party of 11 (6 adults and 5 kids) on this rainy day. We went to the bar to order a drink while waiting on our table and the bartender was clearly not interested in serving us or getting drinks for our kids. Debbie came over to let us know that Trace was taking a break and was extremely rude and condescending while instructing us to order immediately and that there would be one check and would be up to us on how we wanted to split it. I understand that there was not a kids menu, but if this establishment is not kid friendly at all, they would benefit from displaying that somewhere, rather than being extremely rude to their paying guests. We were a little hesitant because of the 3-1-2 stars but the is NOT an accurate rating. Fibber's was right between the Big Cats golf courses and our hotel, we stopped there for a meal due to convenience. The meal was fantastic and so were the drinks. We ended up eating there 2 additional times after that, every meal being equal to our first time. Highly recommend this place, staff, food and drinks are outstanding. read more
