Someone recommended this place to me, so we gave it a shot today. Lunch was great! I had the combo (half sandwich and a choice of salad or soup) Reuben sandwich with their soup of the day: loaded potato soup. Wow, that soup was so delicious! Thanks to our waitress who recommended it to me. It had nice chunks of potatoes, bacon, onions, scallions, diced ham, and topped with cheddar cheese. The sandwich was good, but not a whole lot of meat. However, for me, it was enough. And it wasn't drenched in the dressing, but a nice amount. DH had the steak and Guinness pie, which was topped with a puff pastry. The meat was very tender and it included carrots, peas, and potatoes. He did say the dish had potatoes on one half and meat on the other half. It should be added to the plate evenly. In any case, he enjoyed it. We had good service by our waitress, who was kind to give recommendations. Casual atmosphere. Uncomfortable seats. The bathrooms need a good cleaning. This place is a must go to! The food is awesome, the staff is so friendly and the Irish music just adds to the r place. We got the fried mushrooms for an appetizer, they were so good we got a second, my husband got a chicken sandwich but they tossed it on a buffalo sauce for him, I got the cheesesteak it was so good, my daughter got the bangers and mash( so good), the bangers are from Ireland, my son got grilled shrimp and fries. Beer and whiskey selection was great. Self seating had us in a booth quickly. Staff gave honest recommendations on the food, stick with the Irish pub Classics. The fish and chips were awesome. Now the downside, the table was pretty tacky and had a layer of gunk. The men's bathroom was not great. Keep in mind I know I'm talking about a men's bathroom. My son had the Hawaiian burger and just inhaled it in quiet lol so the fact that happened was a sign it was going to become a regular place. He requested it again recently and since this review have gone 3 times. My youngest only wanted the fresh masked potatoes and did a job on those. He loved the chicken tenders and Mac and cheese the other two times. They ended their nights with fried Oreos or cheesecake. Interior/exterior: typical Irish pub and I loved that vibe. Had a wonderful lunch here. The Beef on Weck was on point! I was a huge fan of the Beef in Weck at College Deli and this was just as good. . . Actually, it was better! My husband and son had fries as their side and they didn't leave a single one behind. I has a side salad that was delicious as well. Our server was friendly and our orders were correct. The fish and chips has super flaky cod and the black and blue burger had the perfect amount of seasoning with the right amount of funky blue cheese to make it melt in your mouth. The interior of the Celtic Monkey is clean and decorated well. It gives the proper atmosphere for that they are looking to achieve. The Ruben spring rolls are extremely crisp with almost no extra oil. The fryer must be set perfectly. The garnish while sparse was partially wilted so the garnish could've been a little fresher, but I will not take off for that. The rolls were full of flavor and filled with meat and cheese. The corned beef was not fatty which was excellent and the amount of cheese seemed appropriate. The thousand island dressing pairs perfectly with it to provide a crispy full Ruben flavor. The French onion soup has a lot of cheese and was loaded with onions. The cheese is actually very heavy. The broth is rich and flavorful. The fried fish tacos were very flavorful. However, I needed additional Baja sauce and Pineapple Salsa added to boost the flavor. My wife had the grilled tacos, which were perfectly grilled and tasted exceptional as well. Our server, Tanis was attentive and friendly. One recommendation would be that the salsa be diced a little more finally, it was rather coarse. A finer chop would accentuate and work on the tacos more effectively. however, the taste was exceptional. I recommend this place and will be returning for future visits. read more

We found this gem today while out in Wilmington and are glad we ventured inside. We arrived on a Tuesday right before noon when they opened and there were already folks waiting to get in. We sat down promptly and the pub quickly filled up while we sat. The staff were amazing and attentive. The good was even better. Two of us got the fish and chips which you could tell was hand dipped, which came crispy, delicious, and piping hot. The accompanying hand cut fries were equally delicious. Our table also had the fish tacos, black and blue burger and the bangers and mash. Not a single complaint and everyone cleaned their plates. The one that had the burger said it was by far one of the best burgers she had had in awhile as it was very well seasoned throughout.
