Menu items include burgers (beef, chicken or Beyond), tacos, sandwiches, salads, soups, flatbreads, and kid-friendly foods. You can change sandwiches to a wrap with a sun-dried tomato basil tortilla. Burgers and sandwiches usually come with kettle chips and tacos usually come with tortilla chips and fire roasted salsa, but you can pay an additional price for other sides, such as fries, onion rings, mac and cheese, slaw, side salad, chips and salsa. Desserts on the day I arrived were either chocolate cake or key lime pie. I ordered the Sweet Potato Totchos appetizer ($10), which were sweet potato tots with bite-sized pork belly, smothered in melted cheese and garnished with scallions. I ordered it to-go so the honey lime yogurt that is usually drizzled on the tots was put in a separate container. The appetizer definitely tasted a lot better with the honey lime yogurt. For the entree, I tried La's Meatloaf ($11) sandwich. The sandwich had slices of homestyle meatloaf with a sweet tomato herb sauce on grilled sourdough bread. It was good and very filling. I could only finish half of the sandwich. For the side, I changed the kettle chips to onion rings. The onion rings were your typical greasy onion rings and were fried well. The set up also allows for those with disabilities to get around easily with ramps to the door to interior. There was no outside entertainment tonight but you can easily fit some out back with a seated and standing audience. I also like how they created seating around the ramp and standing areas too. Each table inside is equipped with a full roll of paper towels because you'll need them if you get the messy meals like I did lol. They also supply individual packets of wipes if you ask. Drinks are large size. The sweet tea want fabulous and was watered down. No water was served which surpassed me but this is Wilmington so that may be a good thing lol. The food was ... ok. My meal were individual size crab legs, came with fries, hush puppies (not a fan of HP btw!) and corn on the cob . Drinks aren't included in meals. All together the total with tip was $75-78. Very expensive. The taste of the butter was very... movie theater tasting of that's even a thing. The crab legs were not large or no king crab legs either. Sometimes, too many choices can mean some things are not gonna be prepared/done well. But, in this case, the items that we ordered were just as described on the menu. If you are looking for fine dining, this may not be the spot for you. But if you're looking for good homestyle-adjacent viddles, give this spot a try. Especially if you are looking to try some homemade, not out of the can, corned beef hash. The Keg and Egg has a very local feel. Its ambience isn't for everyone. Outsiders SEEM to be welcome.
