AHI TACOS
Chris G.

Had a quick lunch at the bar and the service was great! The restaurant is pretty cool and set up like other places downtown. I got the ahi tuna tacos and they were on point. The sweet potato fries were good too. Overall a great experience so I will definitely be back on my next visit to the area.

A good selection of food and very accommodating for groups. The cocktails were somewhat limited but good overall.

COBB SALAD

Stopped in this place with my boss for lunch before heading to the airport. Cute spot, bet it's booming at happy hour. Our waiter was very nice. We decided on the cobb salads. They were huge! Plenty of veggies, chicken, and many different tomatoes. Plenty of bacon too. My boss had shrimp added to his salad as well. Iced tea topped it off. Best salad we both have had in a long time. Parking is metered. I would definitely come back and try their drinks. All in all we both left happy and full.

Seat yourself vibe . We had three adults and one child with us. Server came right over with menus and asked to take our drink orders. She was incredibly pleasant and answered any questions we had. She was always checking in on us and refilled my water three times for me. We ended up deciding on just ordering a bunch of apps. It was a great idea and more than enough to feed us all. Food was really good and we will absolutely be back .All in all a great experience no hassle or pressure at all.

We didn't plan on going in this restaurant but I'm sure glad we did! The fried cheesecake was so good! We didn't try anything else on the menu. The bar area served us quick!

Homemade mac n cheese bowl w Buffalo chicken

Cool little local "watering hole" if you will. No, this place is not related to Gordon Ramsey. But, its called Hell's Kitchen because the previous owner was from HK New Jersey. The food came out within 5min of me ordering it. For a mac n cheese bowl...id say it was decent and substantial. I do think my friend who was a former chef was right when I showed her a picture to which she said "to much chicken". If it were a main dish, I'd understand..but this was an appetizer. Not really to much to comment on the staff because I was sitting at the bar. Ill just say that most of the attention was on a major deciding football game. Price. For $16 n some change for that and a soda..I guess that's an average price. I may come back. Place had good vibes.

Decor

The decor was really cool. Especially decked out for Halloween. There is a bar area as well as booth and table seating. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. My guest said they have really great french fries. I tried the tator tots and they were excellent as well. Our server was great and accommodating. I don't give it a 5 star for the fact that parts of the restaurant seemed a bit dingy and need of attention. Overall a great place however. I'd definitely go back!

Grilled chicken sandwich

Came in today with a party of 8 for lunch. Service was great. She really did an amazing job. However, the food was not as good as last time I ordered the ahi tuna tacos and they were really soggy. The chips served with it were stale. I will say the salsa was really good. She gave me fries instead which I loved with their amazing ranch. My friend and I split the turkey club which was also not very good. Others had grilled chicken sandwiches and they liked them. I would stick with fries and a burger if you come here.

Vegan options on the menu!

The wings were crispy, delicious and flavorful. That's all I tried but they were solid.

Great little bar. Good food, even has trivia nights apparently. A lot of choices in the downtown area, but I think I made the right one

Looking for a place to have a few drinks. Unfortunately my drink was empty and it took way too long to get another.

The food was fine. A tad overpriced. Definitely nothing special to write home about. Though, it did seem like our server was drunk.

Copper Penny - Southwest Burger

Copper Penny

Finally! After many years, we made it back to Copper Penny! On our return trip from Southport we…read morestopped in downtown to grab a bite before heading home. We started walking around and my wonderful wife suggested Copper Penny. Absolutely! There was a short wait for a table, but we didn't mind. The inside is almost like we remember it. We did notice the menu is a lot smaller. The last time we dined here was around ten years ago. Definitely plenty of options. We went with the onion ring appetizer, Cobb salad, and the BBQ Burger. The atmosphere of Copper Penny is the same. Definitely missed this place. After a short wait our food was brought out. Everything was delicious. This is just an update, but we still love Copper Penny and will continue to return.

It was a little embarrassed after spending $192, on food and drinks for 4, with glasses still full of alcohol when we're were asked to leave. We were told that they are enforcing a 90 min in restaurant visit...to the point where they don't care if we had finished our beer/alcohol...clearly they just wanted us out. I've been to a lot of restaurants all over the world but this was the first time in my life that I was asked to leave...we weren't loitering we only wanted to finish our drinks before leaving...the person didn't look at our situation...was very black and white, "you've been here more than 90mins". Their food is good, they are as popular as ever but clearly not a place for people who want to chat and hang out...copper penny is a restaurant not a hangout spot...to me that's loud and clear. As someone who isn't in Wilmington often I rely on my previous experience as a stating point to my ( restaurant) choice. This experience was so jarring that I'll never recommend copper penny to anyone. The food is good but they really don't want or need non local business!

There was a nice amount of menu options and drinks . There was plenty of dining room seating with a large bar area as well. The restaurant gives off very much coastal vibes! Lol, I ordered a crab cake and my son ordered the Wellington sub (I probaly got the name wrong). My crab cake sandwich was okay, but I must mention that it was big in size. My son loved the Wellington sub , the fries with the gravy sauce was amazing. Our server was amazing , service was awesome. The Restaurant itself was tidy and well kept and good times were awesome. The restaurant cuts right on the Wilmington Riverwalk and outside seating is available.

We were seated promptly by our wonderful server, Taylor (I hope I'm getting her name right!). We got a round of amazing espresso martinis along with crab dip and a jumbo Bavarian pretzel to start. I get a big pretzel everywhere I go, and this one definitely didn't disappoint. It came with a lovely cheese sauce and a honey mustard-like sauce. We also loved the crab dip. Taylor quickly resolved any issues we had and got us everything we needed. I got the penne alla vodka with shrimp, and it was very good! Everyone who came with me was very happy with their meals as well. My partner got the prime rib dip and loved it. Overall, I had a blast and would definitely recommend dining here.

She was busy but still helped refill water. Was surprised to have pleasant live music on Friday night that wasn't too loud for conversations and also enjoyable. The food overall was solid. The clam chowder was the favorite thing we ordered, though a little over-seasoned and heavy on the salt. The fish and chips basket had great hush puppies but only the batter of the cod was flavored, not the cod itself. The low country boil was solid but not impressive. The corn was boiled and not flavored. The shrimp was fresh. Overall the environment was fun and vibrant. A nice place for a fast casual meal with solid seafood.

($40) They served us spoiled crab (smelled like ammonia) that was immediately swarmed by flies. Indoors. The woman who sat us pushed alcohol on us hardcore. Makes sense now. We literally said "Nah, we have to drive" and she openly pushed harder and encouraged drinking and driving. Terrible sales tactic. Terrible ethics. The only positive is the waitress who immediately gave us a refund, no questions asked. It's concerning that she wasn't surprised, but still. You'd think a beachside restaurant would serve fresh seafood. Edible, at least. This is a restaurant impossible candidate, no question. Insane.
