Inventive menu lacked execution. Service was good and we accommodated with a reservation when they were full. That was very nice.

Sunset Beach needed this restaurant - and it was worth the wait! Although it was the "off-season" and they got off to a late start to opening day - I think this is a GREAT way for them to ease into the business before the busy season! The decor is beautiful as are the views. There are two bars: one upstairs facing away from the water and the main level facing the bridge. It is an absolute amazing view - whether you're dining at the bar, main floor, outside patio, or upstairs on the second deck. Since I was by myself, I started with the hush puppies. The old twin Lakes was known for these and they did not disappoint. I don't know if it's the same recipe but the cinnamon butter was absolutely amazing. Definitely enough hush puppies for the table. My dirty martinis were made perfectly by the bartender who was very attentive. I ordered the Pork Belly Scallops, and it was an amazing combination. The corn purée and the hash was not something I would've chosen as a side... But it definitely complimented the dish. This is a great restaurant and is wonderful for a date night or special night out. The owner/manager made her way around to each table, which I thought was a nice touch. I don't know that this would be the best place for kids, but they did have a kid selection. I hope nothing more than to see them succeed. We will be back the day after Thanksgiving- reservations made!

Great experience here! Our waiter Skyla was so nice and recommended the best food for our tastes! She was also personable and helpful! The food portions were great we got plenty of food! The manager came to check on things and was also so friendly! Great atmosphere and great food! And great staff!

Blackened mahi, with corn risotto, asparagus, and pineapple salsa. Yum!

What a great place! The atmosphere was relaxed but upscale and we had a nice view of the intercostal. Food was amazing! I wanted my fish cooked just a tad more and they were so gracious, and brought me out a new plate in about five minutes. The manage checked on us twice and Katie, our waitress was fabulous. A wonderful experience, will definitely be back on our next trip to Sunset Beach.

Otherwise the taste of the food was phenomenal, as well as the speed at which it arrived to the table. Let me just say to, the fact they can memorize the specials and menu options is AMAZING to me. This place is definitely a more business casual attire restaurant but not required. It is on the more expensive side but the food is always worth it!

We've come here every single year for his birthday, and it has become a very special tradition for our family. The setting never disappoints -- the restaurant sits right on the marsh and the views are absolutely beautiful. With the sunny weather and peaceful scenery, it made for the perfect backdrop to celebrate. We started with several appetizers including the Scooby Snacks, Boom Boom Shrimp, hummus, and the Board Meeting. Every single one was exceptional and truly exceeded our expectations. For entrées, our table enjoyed the filet mignon, fresh sea bass, a cheeseburger, and the fried flounder -- all cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. There was also live music by Johnny White, which added such a nice touch to the atmosphere and fit perfectly with the beautiful setting. But the real star of the evening was our waiter, Luciano. He was one of the most incredible servers we've ever had here. At one point my son accidentally spilled cocktail sauce on his shirt, Luciano didn't skip a beat He immediately stepped in to help clean things up, brought hot towels, and even brought club soda to help remove the stain from my son's shirt. He handled everything with kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. He also helped us celebrate in singing Happy Birthday to my son and even included a candle in his birthday pie. Luciano was attentive, compassionate, and truly the ideal waiter. He left us with a lasting impression and made an already special birthday celebration absolutely perfect. We look forward to continuing our yearly tradition at The Oyster Rock and hope to see Luciano again next year!

When we walked in - we looked over at the bar area and a gentleman immediately told us "no one under 21 in the bar area." Not even sure he said hello first. We had our 13-year old daughter with us - and didn't even ask to sit there yet. We were then seated in the dining room and were waiting on our friends to complete our party of 7. Waitress took our drink order. My daughter asked for lemonade - they were out. She then asked for a Shirley Temple - didn't have the ingredients to make it. My husband ordered a beer and she asked for his ID. My license was in the car (I am 53), so she would not serve me. I understand them erroring on the side of caution, but it wasn't worth me walking to my car to show her my ID. My husband's beer was warm, but thankfully my water was cold. ‍ My husband ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer - but they were out of it. Waitress said, "well - it's that time of year!" Sort of funny when you're 200 yards from the ocean and are situated above a fresh seafood shop. We finally ordered the tuna appetizer while we waited for friends - it was decent, but a small portion for the price. Here was the kicker - we asked for our bill bc we decided to go across the street to Mavericks. Our tab was $29.21. We gave her $100 bill - and she returned with all cash bills. She said she rounded up our tab because "they don't give change" (as in coins). So they rounded it UP to $30 instead. Who does that? Is it even legal? We are owners on the island, and truly do support all local businesses. We LOVED House's when it was in Sea Trail. Unfortunately, we were too embarrassed to meet our friends here and opted for wings at Mavericks. ‍

In our reservation, it asks if we are celebrating a special event, which I clearly indicated we were: it was my husband's 50th birthday, which is why we were splurging on a nice meal on our last night here at the beach. We arrived on time and waited just a few minutes for our table to be ready. Server was very bubbly and nice, said she was also training someone new. She promptly took our drink orders. We had three cocktails, one mocktail, and three lemonades and waters. We placed our appetizer order of calamari and burrata mozzarella and asked for some bread to tie the kids over, the latter of which came out promptly, but our table was not provisioned with napkin/silverware bundles so we had no means to spread the butter. We asked someone for silverware. Then the appetizers arrived, but again we had no silverware. We waited about 5 mins as it got cold to flag our server down for utensils. The calamari, albeit no longer warm, was tasty. The burrata was as well, but they only give two small slices of crostini. We used our table bread to continue enjoying the mozzarella, balsamic glaze, etc., but the appetizer should have the diameter of the plate arrayed with slices of crostini. One cannot put a half slab of mozzarella onto a tiny sliver of bread. We ordered short rib, grouper, a burger, teo kids chicken tender meal, two filet mignons with bearnaise, and a side of Brussels because they were no longer carrying the broccolini on the menu. No complaints from guests on most of the entrees, but the filets were really charbroiled on the outside. Cooked to our desired temperature on the inside, but tasted like a charcoal briquette on the outside. Even slathering it with bearnaise didn't mask or cut the charcoal. The Brussels were just roasted, no flavor and nothing to write home about. And these entrees were quite pricey, so we were expecting steakhouse level perfection. The biggest disappointment was that, despite our advance notice that we were all there to celebrate my husband's milestone birthday, there was no mention of it from the staff. No birthday slice of cake brought out, no HBD acknowledgment of any kind. The drinks were good, service was good with a few hiccups, server was very nice and friendly, and much of the food was tasty. If we return, I'll probably come back for lunch instead. It just wasn't worth the $ we dropped on the dinner check, and it was not the special celebratory birthday dinner we hoped it would be.

Typically, when I come, it is with a larger group so we have to sit inside. For anyone wondering, you are likely always going to have a wait. And that's okay! There is a wonderful beach and Christmas shop right across the parking lot that you can peruse - I promise you can kill at least 45 minutes, and the meal is well worth the wait. This time, since it was just my friend and I, we decided to sit at the outdoor bar, which is first come first serve. We were quickly seated, so it worked out perfectly. One thing I will say is that this patio is in the direct path of the setting sun, so just have your sunglasses ready. I ordered the Sarita Margarita, which is my favorite cocktail they have. It is like a fruity, boozy slushy. Absolutely delicious and perfect after a day at the beach. I always get the Hurricane Chicken. It is my absolute favorite meal. If I were to have my choice of my last meal on earth, it would be Boundary House's Hurricane Chicken. When you order an entree, it comes with a side salad. My recommendation to you is to get their house raspbery vinagrette, it pairs perfectly with this salad! Now, the Hurricane Chicken itself is this delightful combination of a chicken breast, crab cake, and shrimp with some delicious sauce on top. It is so creamy with the variety of flavors that three meats bring. In case you don't finish it all, it also reheats well for leftovers the next day. If you're ever in Calabash, you have to stop in at Boundary House!
