Beachin' with Spousal Unit, Kiddies, and Grandkiddies: the whole fam. Yay! Ten souls in total so hard to find a restaurant that could handle us (and the picky food restrictions of GKs). Ended up making very early dinner reservation (tourist!) at Oak & Palm. Excellent choice! Ambiance was great (including some prints on the wall from an artist that DaughterPoo has hanging in her home). People were incredibly friendly and obviously well trained. First impression: excellent... ...and the rest of the meal did not disappoint. The GKs devoured hushpuppies that were soft and airy, not dense corn balls. The menu had choices for everyone, and with our family, that's saying a lot. I had pan-seared Chilean Sea Bass served on a bed of Parmesan risotto. Spousal Unit had crab stuffed salmon. Beavis had short ribs, and his SU had miso-glazed sea bass. DaughterPoo got the Calabash fried shrimp platter. And the kids ordered, well, kid stuff. With one minor exception (undercooked rice served with short ribs) everything was perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and tasty. Portion sizes were perfectly cooked because... ...no beach dinner is complete without dessert. We enjoyed a variety of cakes and frozen pies, with enough left over for snacking at home. Really, really good! And the undercooked rice? Beavis noted it to our server, who promptly brought over a manager, who immediately sent out a monstrous hunk of airy coconut cake as a "sorry". Uneccessary, but a great customer service touch. The entire meal was excellent and affordable, with prices below what I would expect at home. And they had Pappy Van Winkle 12 behind the bar - yowza! So: 5 stars, and we will definitely return on our next visit. read more

I've enjoyed several visits to Oak and Palm over the past 6 months. Tonight our table had Cajun Chicken Alfredo, Carolina Crab Cake, and house salad. My friend ordered the Cajun Chicken Alfredo was moist and delicious with the right amount of spice (not overly so). The portion was generous. I ordered the Crab cake and house salad as a meal. It was very good, although I felt the portion of aioli was too large relative to the size of the crab cake.. The house salad was good but had more carrots and cucumbers than lettuce. That was OK with me but others might not appreciate it. Service was good. The hostess was very friendly and personable and I wish I'd gotten her name. The waiter knew the menu and provided solid answers when asked questions about menu items. It was a perfect evening for dining on the patio and if that strikes your fancy, be sure to make a reservation during the summer months. It's definitely prime real estate during the busy season. read more

Our server had great menu knowledge and his recommendations were spot on. The salmon jambalaya was packed with flavor and the portion was veryyyy generous. Sunset Beach needed this restaurant - and it was worth the wait! Although it was the "off-season" and they got off to a late start to opening day - I think this is a GREAT way for them to ease into the business before the busy season! The decor is beautiful as are the views. There are two bars: one upstairs facing away from the water and the main level facing the bridge. It is an absolute amazing view - whether you're dining at the bar, main floor, outside patio, or upstairs on the second deck. Since I was by myself, I started with the hush puppies. The old twin Lakes was known for these and they did not disappoint. I don't know if it's the same recipe but the cinnamon butter was absolutely amazing. Definitely enough hush puppies for the table. My dirty martinis were made perfectly by the bartender who was very attentive. I ordered the Pork Belly Scallops, and it was an amazing combination. The corn purée and the hash was not something I would've chosen as a side... But it definitely complimented the dish. This is a great restaurant and is wonderful for a date night or special night out. The owner/manager made her way around to each table, which I thought was a nice touch. I don't know that this would be the best place for kids, but they did have a kid selection. I hope nothing more than to see them succeed. We will be back the day after Thanksgiving- reservations made! read more

First of all, the ambiance and views were incredible! We walked in and couldn't believe the transformation of this restaurant from its previous "look". Reese was our server and he was confident, engaging and knowledgeable. He recommended food suggestions and he wasn't wrong! The food was outstanding! We were pleasantly impressed! I had the Chilean Sea Bass and it did not disappoint! Other people at the table ordered the shrimp grits which was so flavorful-smoky and creamy and perfectly cooked! What a great place! The atmosphere was relaxed but upscale and we had a nice view of the intercostal. Food was amazing! I wanted my fish cooked just a tad more and they were so gracious, and brought me out a new plate in about five minutes. The manage checked on us twice and Katie, our waitress was fabulous. I ordered the seared sea scallops but switched the sweet corn risotto for the parmsean risotto. I didn't want a sweet meal. But with the extra salt in the potato hash, I understood why the sweet corn risotto. Biscuit was amazing. Nice, light color palette. Thought it was small until I learned there was a second floor. We dined here on Monday night and discovered it was $7 margarita night, so we took full advantage of that by ordering the Spicy Seville Margaritas and they were fantastic! We shared a calamri appetizer that was the best we ever had. This was followed by a wonderful apple side salad, then to the entrees..He had Blankened grouper over grits and I had the Atlantic Salmon over coconut rice with a shared side vegetable of roasted brussel sprouts with sweet chili sauce. Both were delicious! For dessert we shared the unstructured S'mores and it was absolutely devine. Service was outstanding and this is now our favorite go to restaurant at the beach. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Oak and Palm, and I'm still raving about the experience. The views of the intercoastal waterway were simply stunning, with boats coming and going as the sunset. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make us feel like we were being treated exceptionally well. The food was fabulous, with highlights including the oysters, chef's specialty, and my husband's steak. The wine was delicious, and the complementary hush puppies with cinnamon and honey butter were a delightful surprise. What truly sets Oak and Palm apart is its convenient location right outside of our neighborhood. The price was fantastic, especially considering the high quality of the food and service. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor dining areas, with multiple bars and plenty of seating with great views of the water. We're already looking forward to going back and becoming regulars. Okay WOW! What a great surprise! Dinner was excellent on every level. I had the scallops which were rich and flavorful and my friend the salmon (she let me taste) melt in your mouth delicious. The wine recommends by our ridiculously handsome and polite server were spot on. Beautifully laid out space with upstairs. & downstairs outdoor patios with water views. My husband and I went out to celebrate his 70th birthday. I really, really wanted to like this restaurant. The view was beautiful, the wait staff was very good. My dinner arrived and the scallops were cooked to perfection, but the risotto beneath the scallops was cold, not even warm, ice cold! There was no garnish on the plate and it looked very bland. My husband had the pork chops, which tasted good, but were severely over salted. Also, there was no garnish on his plate. For the price we paid, I would think the chef would have a little more finesse? Also, during our meal, a woman came up to our table and asked how our meal was and had we ever been there before. I'm assuming she was the manager/owner, but who knows?? She did not introduce herself!! I appreciate checking on your patrons, but at least let them know who you are first! read more
