It actually pains me to write this review. I wanted to chalk it up to the incredibly high expectations my boyfriend and I had for this establishment, but that wasn't it at all. One of, if not the worst dining experience we have both ever had. Service, food, and even the ambiance was not just subpar or disappointing, but downright awful. We decided one afternoon to grab lunch here on a whim, I made reservations online for the bar. We arrived at the restaurant, standing outside at the host stand (which stayed unattended throughout our entire lunch) for a moment before we decided to walk in. We stood at the front for bit, again, without any sort of acknowledgment. The restaurant was empty except for a couple of tables (who also seemed to be ignored by the staff) and a bunch of staff standing around on their phones. Literally, every staff member we saw was on their phones, out in the open. The bartender behind the bar was talking to another staff while also simultaneously ignoring us. After standing at the front, still, without any acknowledgement. My boyfriend and I made our way towards the bar. I'm going to skip over a lot of unimportant parts, but this bartender ended up being our server and he was absolutely awful and unprofessional. He inserted himself into our conversation and asked incredibly personal questions. We are patient people, but multiple times he blatantly ignored us while chatting with another bartender who had just came in..who also ignored us. Besides that he was rude, arrogant, and had the worst attitude for no reason. He told us the specials and after telling him it was our first time, he gave us no recommendations. Which is fine, but don't ask if it's our first time here if you don't care or plan to offer any direction. Haha. We ended up ordering one of the specials which was a beef cheek agnolotti and the Korean steak bavette. My spicy kitty drink was the best part of the experience as I liked it, not too spirit forward or sweet, very well balanced. Upon ordering the agnolotti, I asked if it could be done without the Mac nuts as I'm allergic. Bartender said yes, with the acknowledgment that I am allergic but lo and behold when the dish came out it was covered in Mac nuts. This dish was disappointing. Disregarding the fact that it was covered in my allergen, the sauce was bland, tasted like plain heavy cream, while the beef inside the pasta was incredibly salty. Eating it both together didn't improve the dish. Good thing I had my non drowsy allergy medication and that I only break out in hives and the allergy isn't more serious. But it's safe to say our server/bartender didn't notice or care as he was more involved with his conversation with his coworker. Now the Korean steak bavette was the worst steak I've ever eaten. It was the absolute toughest piece of meat. I cut it into the smallest pieces and still had to chew the tiny piece at least twenty times. I had the first bite of the steak (my boyfriend and I shared both dishes) and the moment I put the steak into my mouth, I looked at him because it was so bad. The slaw on the plate was the best part of the meal. Our bartender/server continued to ignore us, only randomly inserting himself into our conversation, and the only "service" we received was when we were trying to get his attention for the bill (this also took a long time). If he had been more attentive, we would ate more and drank more as we are both big eaters and drinkers! My boyfriend especially. But his service, the food, and the unprofessional atmosphere (how is everyone still just standing around on their phones???) ruined what was supposed to be a nice lunch. Funny considering we were there for at least an hour, and we were the only two people at the bar up until 15 minutes or so before we left. He had one table on the floor and a woman, who I assumed was a regular sat next to us at the bar. He was so incredibly kind and courteous towards her, prompt, attentive, providing impeccable service. So much so, that we realized he wasn't incapable, just selective? We were both left wondering why we weren't extended that same service. We both left, and could only laugh at the situation, but honestly we were both so disappointed. I had been wanting to try fete for a long time and I love that the exec and sous chefs are women! My boyfriend had also heard great things about this place, but we won't be back. Sadly. We wanted to love this place but there was nothing to love read more
