A classic looking restaurant with very professional looking service, However, Fevor is the kind of place that you expect excellent food but it not the case. We ordered T-bone steak medium we had to send it back because it was rare. We ordered water crest salad with carrots and and tomatoes we got a carrot salad with no a watercrest salad. Wine pricy one of the bottles the corkscrew had rotted and the wine was pure vinegar. The place very nice looking but a real disappointment. The waiter wanted the tip in cash telling us that It couldn't be added to the bill. read more

The Alvear Art reserved this for us and it was generally a good steer. We were promptly presented with a nice table at the banquette on the main floor. Our waiter insisted we have a cabernet instead of the Malbec we chose. Were they out of it? The cabernet was good, and the same price as the Malbec, but it was an odd thing to do. Your bread basket is presented with a small assortment of savory hors d'oeuvres. These are delicious. (To avoid a mistake I am not going to speculate on exactly what they are.) Our main starter, mollejas (sweetbreads), were among the best I have had at an Argentine restaurant, perfectly grilled, crispy at the edges, divine in their simplicity. The swiss chard fritters were less successful, heavy, slightly larger than golf balls, one gets left behind. The 600g ojo de bife, absolutely medium rare, makes up for it. More flavorful than corn fed American beef, and more tender than any grass fed steak I had eaten previously, if this was the only main course, you would be looking at five stars. The grilled seafood combination was not as good. Primarily shrimp and chewy octopus, it just didn't sparkle. A generous side of grilled vegetables also pleased, the other side was less than memorable. We were offered a free glass of limoncello at departure. Nice touch. The bill is about 1/2 what it would be at an American steakhouse at this level. Many Americans were enjoying the bargain, but locals were here as well, and the ratio changes as the evening progresses. I came here for New Years Eve as was recommended by travel agency and hotel with RAVE REVIEWS. Prefacing this review with the information that the NYE dinner was ~$200USD per person. Extremely expensive for anywhere but especially for Argentina where the food everywhere was very cheap and delicious. Not only was I disappointed in the service, the food was just simply not great and I can't even begin to imagine how the restaurant deemed this meal worthy of hundreds of dollars. Ok fine, it's "open bar", so maybe it's the alcohol? Nope. When I ordered a cocktail the waiter promptly informed me that only wine and beer are included in the New Year's Eve dinner. So paid even more for the drinks we wanted. Appetizers come out and it is literally a sick joke. One single empanada on a plate, no garnish no nothing (photo attached). THREE SLICES OF VEGETABLES on the "grilled vegetable platter" OMG THIS IS NOT OK. They were SO rude when we asked for bread or olive oil and we are not picky. So glad we chose Fervor last night. Everything about our meal was just right. No reservation, but our wait was short. Plus free champagne! so we didn't abort. The menu- extensive- large meat section. The lomo I picked was cooked to perfection. The Tiramisu was light and not too sweet. Cappuccinos served with appropriate heat. Servers were professional, made us smile. A quick nap after such a lengthy flight I was all ready for Fervor and as a recommendation from a friend I was not disappointed. The place is adorable and although really busy at 9pm, they kindly make the wait a little more enjoyable by offering you a complimentary glass of champagne. Of course when in Buenos Aires, you eat the steak and you drink the Malbec. The steak was fantastic. Cooked perfectly. The wine I originally wanted to order was gone, however, our server offered us a suggestion and it complimented the meal well. My 4 stars stems from the wait (despite having reservations) and the sides lacking flavor. Delicious food and excellent service. I would recommend the Provoleta starter - grilled provolone with sun dried tomato and arugula. My filet mignon was delicious. Perfectly cooked and flavorful. Grilled vegetables were mostly onions but sweet potatoes were tasty. Not the orange sweet potatoes we have in the US but great. My husband's steak was a NY Strip and he raved about it. Highly recommended by concierge, it was our first meal right off the plane in BA. It did not disappoint. Fish selection is great, but they are all prepared similarly. Not necessarily a bad thing - they really highlight the natural flavors of each meat/fish. A little different than what one is used to in the United States. I don't get the hype for this place. We came for dinner and it seemed like the waiter did not care at all. He suggested I not get a mixed seafood plate because it was too large and recommended a shrimp and squid dish which came with 4 tiny tasteless shrimps and 4 tiny pieces of squid. This dish cost around 30 usd. The French fries were soggy as were the roasted vegetables and the salad we got. Granted this is a steak joint but I had read how great the seafood is and it was poor at best. I'd look elsewhere for dinner read more

While in Buenos Aries we wanted to have one great dinner with parrilla, or grilled meats. We had been to one other restaurant, and while the atmosphere was nice, and it was mainly a crowd of locals which we prefer, the food was just OK. We wanted the perfect beef/malbec dinner.....and found it a Fervor At Fervor, our waiter spoke limited English, and our Spanish was worse, so the sommelier became our defacto waiter. He asked us how he could help, and I asked him to help pick out a Malbec that would want us to want to come back to Buenos Aries. We choose a 2009 Linda Flor, which was on the pricier side of their list. I'm glad we did....wow! We hit it off really well with him, so we let him choose our entire dinner. The four of us share two empanadas as starters, shared an order of lomo (tenderloin) and a rib eye, a side each of french fries and grilled vegetables. We almost order three beef entrees, but in the end we all agreed two was ample, especially for a late evening dinner. We shared two desserts, crepes and a molten chocolate cake....all excellent. It was an perfect dining evening. Some of the reviews indicated Fervor is expensive. I found it to be well worth the cost, and by US or large European city standards not expensive at all. Had a last minute change to our plans for New Years Eve and were fortunate that our hotel could secure a reservation. The atmosphere is nicely balanced to the traditional and yet modern touches. If you can I highly suggest sitting all the way upstairs...a nice little find. On the holiday the menu was prefix and we both had the Steak (NY Strip), grilled veggies and pear salad. The food was top notch...fresh, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The steaks were at least 2 inches thick and were some of the best we've had in a long while (second to El Rincon where we dined a few nites earlier). The service was impeccable...very friendly and several of the staff were available if we had questions in English. We would definitely go back...nice find! read more

This is probably the second best steak I've ever had in my life. I woke up dreaming about it. I never, never order filet mignon (lomo) as it doesn't have enough flavor for me in the US. Excellent restaurant for steak, decent wine list, good side dishes and a good time. Service for us (we visited twice) was excellent, particularly when we had a larger party of 6. When we were just two, because of the nature of the steak house type menu, we did not have quite the variety of dishes to try as we did when we were 6. The beef was excellent as was the seafood ordered. The prices are quite reasonable, particularly when translated into USD. Recommended by our city guide as well as our hotel concierge....great call by both. We sat at the patio which was on the roof top. The best place at the restaurant to my mind. Fresh evening breeze, cozy and intimate ambience, very romantic. We decided to discover what "Achurras" were and ordered half a portion of "Rueda de achurras". The price was slightly less than of the whole portion though. The two things I knew from that selection were sweetbreads and kidneys. We've also got homemade pork sausage which was the most edible and good. And the last thing called Veal Chitlings - that was unpalatable and unsavory for me. Who would think of eating intestinal by the way, to put it simple?! It tasted like you know what... Not good. All the rest was too greasy and lardy to my taste. Grilled provolone cheese was delicious and tender, very flavorful. But it's good only when it's hot and after a while it's getting rubbery. We took Lomo as a main course - Tender Loin, which was delicate, very tender, soft and balmy. Not like American steak, it has its distinguished local flavor. Like Filet mignon, but slightly different in aroma. And grilled vegetables as side dish - zucchini and eggplants. They have a broad selection of both - meats and fish. All in all it was nice experience. I'm not sorry that we tried that Chitlings, except for there I don't know where else would that be. Now I know what exactly is that not to order next time. Very impressive wine list, practically all the best Argentinian producers are presented. Out from non-Argentinian wines there are only two positions of Champagne: Dom Perignon and Veuve Clicquot. There are few very rare and expensive wines, such as Catena Zapata Estiba Reservada 1999 for more than $ 1000. The service was ok. We've waited for a while, and the waiters were too much of fussy, but at least we've got everything right. And by the way, they accept payments in cash in US dollars for their inner exchange rate. read more

We found this long que of people in front of this restaurant and it has to be good so we walked in and had no idea it is one of the best steak in town ! Best...Steak...EVER! We had an early reservation (around 8:30pm) and were seated pretty quickly. The wine list is very nice and there are a lot of options at all budgets. As others have noted, everything is a la carte - which I prefer because it allows me to tailor the food. I had the strip and the wife had the tenderloin. Biggest mistakes we made were not ordering larger portions. I don't eat a lot of red meat, but have had Wagyu, Kobe, Australian Wagyu so know enough when I'm eating a good steak. The meat here is unlike anything else - almost like a different animal. It's soft, but gamey and flavorful. It is certainly the best steak I've ever had. Superb food with large portions so our group of 12 shared entrees. Steaks are minimum of 400 grams / 14 ozs. The restaurant had no problem with our sharing entrees and sides. Desserts were wonderful especially the apple "pancake" (more like a crepe) with cinnamon ice cream. Service was very attentive. I went with my husband, a friend, and my five months year old daughter. There is a very nice atmosphere. We were sit at the back so that the stroller would fit. Showed up without a reservation after 8 pm when they were barely getting ready for dinner. They gave us a table because, by Argentine standards, 8 pm is super early to be eating dinner. By 9 pm, the place was packed. Excellent menu with parrillas and italian fare. Great service with plenty of staff and helpful waiters. The food was perfectly created to our specifications. It is sort of a classy, dress up, expensive place. In Buenos Aires in general there is a "cubiertos" or utensils tax per person. So be aware that there will be an extra charge for something you didn't order or can't eat. Be prepared to spend at least $$$ for a family of four. But it was a good experience and it was tasty and we walked there from the Cementerio de la Recoleta and the Museo de Bellas Artes which are great experiences and they are free. The restaurant is in a great neighborhood and La Recoleta is a very safe place. It almost has a New York City kind of vibe. read more

This restaurant was recommended by our tour guide for empanadas and steak. We were not disappointed. The service was awesome, the wine list extensive, and the menu varied. Being from the southeastern coast of the US we are not ones to order seafood away and being in Argentina you have to have a steak. To begin the bread is terrific and we had an empanada to share for an appetizer, delicious. I ordered the ribeye and my husband ordered the NY strip and we cut in half and shared. Our friends did the same. We had mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables and French fries for the table, all excellent. The steaks were incredible, probably some of the best we have had, cooked to medium rare perfection. If you are in the area looking for the perfect steak in Buenos Aires, this is the place.. oh and the wine, of course Malbec, was very good also, and oh oh the desert was spectacular, an orange flavored lava cake with ice cream. We had a reservation with email confirmation but they insisted there was no record and were rather rude but finally had to give us a table. I was looking forward to ordering Swordfish or Seabass and was disappointed when they told me they had run out. We had to order Grouper instead, it was hard and tasteless. We ordered some sides, mashed sweet potatoes but they gave me mashed potatoes instead. The applesauce was warm instead of cold. None of the servers or head server spoke any English, it was like dogs and cats talking! After reading all the great reviews and a hotel recommendation, we decided to try Fervor on our last day in Buenos Aires. The entire restaurant was filled with tourists, not a single Argentinian. The waiters all spoke excellent English. We ordered bife de chorizo and what we had was very tasty, but not the best steak of our 2 week stay. The minute I was done with my steak, the waiter cleared the table of my plate and bread, even though we still had sides that we were eating. When the bill came, we did not have the exact change and put in large bills. We did not get any change and when asked, the waiter thought that was his tip. I found the entire experience to be extremely unrelaxing and the worst restaurant of our trip. read more
