So, I asked my hotel for a recommendation in/near the Recoleta. My man at the desk suggested two places. I walked to Fervor, the second choice. Great call. First, I was alone, so they sat me upstairs with a great view of the entire restaurant. Second, a decent selection of wines by the glass. I selected a glass of Chandon sparkling. Very nice way to open the palate. Third, there is a lot to choose from on this menu. I selected the grilled red bell peppers (marrones asados), a small tenderloin steak (lomo 200 mg, my only steak on this trip to Argentina and it was worth the cheat), and half an ensalata del dia. My first course, however, was the empanada de carne. Everything was excellent. The empanada in particular was larger than the average empanada by at least a factor of two. The steak filling was cubed, not ground, and seasoned with a zesty red blend of spices. Steak was cooked perfectly. Al punto, with a nice char from the parilla on the outside and pink-red on the inside. I took a gazillion tiny bites as I did not want to take the final bite and end the steak's presence on my plate. Premium wine by the glass was a carbenet franc. Big, beautiful color, and a generous pour (Salentein Numina Valle de Uco 2017, only $4.50/glass). I would return with friends, with business colleagues, with almost anyone who wanted to enjoy a great meal in Buenos Aires. The issues were the following: Too many damned Americans! It seemed half the Americans in Buenos Aires were with me that Sunday night. Oh, and the prices on some items were a bit high. On our first night in Buenos Aires, we asked our tour guide where we could find a good restaurant near our hotel in Recoleta. He pointed us to Fervor and made a reservation for us. As non-Spanish speakers, we were aided by translation apps but the staff was (mostly) willing to work with us as we conveyed our wants. Argentina is know for beef and that is exactly what we were seeking here. The meal did not disappoint nor did the wine selection (again, aided by a translation app). My only gripe was the mashed potatoes. Ick. Watery and gritty but perhaps that's what Argentines enjoy? Not for me but "to each their own." read more

Definitely an establishment for people who really enjoy good quality steaks. I had the ribeye, which had not enough salt but very good quality steak taste without it. The vegetables as a side was good, and the appetizers of bread is very good. The vino rojo copa premium is delicious and heavy pours. Service was on point. The only reason it doesn't get a 5, is that it wasn't so exceptional, however it is very good for steak and seafood. The atmosphere can be both romantic or business or casual just because of the crowd/setup. Intimate. I recommend it for sure. read more

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel as a local steak oriented establishment that was enjoyed by residents of the city. Dining experience was overall fair at best. Calamari appetizer was fine but lacked distinction. Three of our group had steak which we concluded was not flavorful and suboptimal in preparation. Another person had salmon which was dry and disappointing in taste. We tried several side dishes including pumpkin, grilled vegetables, and apple sauce. The apple sauce was the only one which was noteworthy and desirable. Apple crisp and chocolate mousse desserts were fine but nothing special. Service was also fair and somewhat inattentive. We dined at Fervor on one of the last nights of a 3 week trip to Chile and Argentina. The meal itself was fine. We were a party of two and had the following: one 500 g steak ($20.02 USD), one ravioli dish ($15.53 USD), one-half order of French fries ($6.03 USD), one salad ($8.32 USD), one ice cream dessert (estimated $1.73 USD), and a bottle of wine that cost approximately $52.80 USD. All told, we expected the meal to cost roughly $105 USD and believe that would have been a decent value (the night before, for example, we dined at Palacio Duhau and had a much more elaborate meal of steak, seafood, two appetizers, and wine, for $210). These prices are based on the exchange rate as of 4/21/22 and the menu posted in the window of the restaurant, which we confirmed that day after we dined at Fervor (the price of the wine and dessert was not on the menu posted in the window and based on our recollection from the night before when we dined). We were charged $487.81 USD. We did not notice the price while we were at the restaurant but at that time had no reason to be cautious. Fervor is a fine dining establishment, our waiter was very friendly, and meals throughout our entire trip had been relatively inexpensive by American standards. Also, and this is not an issue only at Fervor, but when the waiter brought the check he indicated that the tip had to be paid in cash, which we do not carry. This seems to be the custom in Buenos Aires - there is no ability to add a tip to your card payment. We asked the waiter where we could find an ATM and his English, which had been excellent up until that point, disappeared. At the beginning of the meal, he stated we didn't need to try to speak English as he was from Bolivia and his English was perfect. This led me to walk several blocks to an ATM to get cash to come back and tip the waiter who overcharged us for our meal. It's worth noting that Buenos Aires is currently noted for a high rate of crime and pickpocketing, so while Fervor is in a relatively safe neighborhood, it was not a pleasant experience to wander the streets to take out cash to bring back to the restaurant. While we did tip the waiter at Fervor (2000 pesos) after I went to the ATM, I believe he may not have believed we were going to when we said we did not have cash and thus overcharged us. He was also nowhere to be found once the check was brought. It was a very unfortunate end to an otherwise wonderful trip. If you dine here, be very cautious about your bill. read more

The setting is beautiful, built to look like the dinning room of a vintage cruise ship. The chandelier that hangs from the ceiling of the second floor over the main dinning room. Made of vintage silver from a retired vessel. The wait staff is very helpful and some speaks English. The first time I chose to try the various cuts of beef. This time I elected to try the salmon. First visit and evening in Buenos Aires in Recoleta area. Fervor Restaurant is about 3 blocks from CasaSur Hotel. The 3 of us had dinner reservation for 10:30 pm after booking through an on- line reservation. We arrived earlier that evening and had no problem securing a four-top immediately from the maitre d. This is a 2 level dining room. Steps at entrance and stairs aren't accessible for mobility impaired. Bathrooms are upstairs. The restaurant was buzzing with patrons ( lots of locals ) by 9:30 pm. Bar with seats at front entrance. We ate on first level. Excellent five-star service from two waiters assigned to our table. Gustavo is one who was able to recommend an excellent, mid-priced Malbec which impressed us. Same goes for the Spumante we tried and he recommended. They have a nice wine selection. The waiters speak some English. Menu has English translations. All 3 of us ordered the 200 gram ( smallest portion ) of grilled beef tenderloin to our individual liking. Side dishes are extra. Complimentary Bread and small tastes of beans and chicken go well with wine; not to mention pairing well with the beef tenderloin. Flavors of beef here put places like Ruth Chris to shame. Prices are extremely reasonable. Enough said. Desserts are plentiful with lots of Argentine specialties like Dulce de Leche ice cream. All delicious. We enjoyed our dining experience immensely. Expect to pay a 50 + peso per person cover charge added automatically ( as customary ) to your bill. Credit cards accepted. Bills may be split. Summary 5-star service, wines, & food. Our first "steakhouse" restaurant in Buenos Aires was Fervor, actually an establishment which serves both steaks and seafood. Fervor is an elegant white tablecloth, classy place. They serve amazing meats and South Atlantic/Pacific seafood. We made a split choice. My wife selected South Atlantic White Salmon dish with salad. I chose a classic Rib Eye steak (400 grams) which was cooked to perfection. In Argentina the sides are extra so I chose frites and fried vegetables. Steaks are prepared with salts, but this is not a place where steak sauces and lots of condiments are added. Just plain AMAZING meat. We both had glasses of wine, a top rated Malbec for me. For deserts I chose ice cream Don Pedro with J&B whiskey. Though I rarely order ice cream, the local ice cream selections are splendid so I had to try some. Good move. My better half tried a Flan with Dulce de Leche. Service at Fervor was sharp and on point--our waiter spoke good English and offered suggestions only when asked. At the end, we were most pleased to get a complimentary limoncello. This is an establishment in chic Recoleta and many of the patrons are local regulars though there were a fair number of tourists too. We stumbled upon this establishment as it was perfectly situated 2 doors down from our hotel! They also have a very extensive fish menu although yes this a beef house! All the sides including calamari , fried chips , bbq mushrooms and veggies were excellent!! The wait wasn't to bad and there Aperol Spritz were the best i have ever had! This was a very lively restaurant but not to loud. The wait staff was very attentive and the service was excellent. If you haven't been here you do need to try this. I give a 2 thumbs up. read more

My goal in Buenos Aires is to eat as much beef as possible. Out of four steak meals I had, this was my second favorite place. I had rib eye, pasta, and ordered grilled veggies. This was the first and last time I ordered vegetables during my stay. There is so much yummy food that you don't have room for it all and the veggies were plain. I can make them at home with more flavor but I came for the steak and it was delicious. Medium rare was more rare than I expected but I was fine with that. It was tender and red in the middle. It was prepared simply with no fancy sauce or seasoning so you can tell if it is a good cut of meat. Waiter didn't really speak English but was kind and accommodating. The restaurant was packed. Although it was mostly locals, there was a couple from Florida sitting behind me. I kind of liked that because they are not prepared to cater just tourists but their reputation proceeds them to attract tourist For the locals, they know what's good and go there. The meal was very reasonable. I paid with my credit card and there was no place to tip because it was not expected. I left cash tip since the staff tried to explain items in English and was attentive. One thing to note is that you have to ask for your check kind of like in France. You can be done with your meal for 30 minutes with no wine or food in front of you, falling asleep at your table, and there could be a line outside the restaurant and they would not rush you out. Make reservations. When I left at 10:30 pm, there were still a lot of people in the restaurant and outside waiting. read more

We came to this place because it is one of the restaurants recommended by our hotel. Four of us ordered 4 appetizers, 5 main entries (2 seafood and 3 meat) and 2 drinks. It was too much but we wanted to give a try of different meat and seafood. The fried calamari with zucchini and eggplant had basically crumbs of zucchini and eggplant. The short rib was fatty and hard to chew. All the meat entries tasters plain. We want medium for the meat entries but one of the meat entries came well done. We barely ate it as it was too hard to chew. Only the rib eye was good but still it tasted plain. Seabass tasted plain. We were very disappointed of the food. What we couldn't believe happened: one of us happened to take a picture of the menu. When we got the bill, many of the items were marked up 10% from the original price. Then we were told that restaurant just changed the dinner menu that night by 10%!!!! Anyway we paid the bill and left. Whatever. It was very unpleasant experience. read more

This place was absolutely the best when it comes to steaks. It's comparable to the old time NYC steakhouses. They have steaks galore. 6 oz ( thin), 12 oz. (perfect), and 18 oz. ( could be shared) steak. All salads and vegetable are large and could be shared. Everything is a la carte. Nothing comes with the steak. Yes, they have seafood and pasta selections as well. Men were in suits and not many in casual jeans. Waiters are all males and are always running around with their trays of food. The price seems expensive, but it's quite reasonable compared to American steakhouses. Desserts are very rich and large portions. It's all about sharing at this place. read more

The service here is worse than one star. We waited for about 20 minutes in total just to request for the menu and make our order. Even when we asked for the bill as the waiter passed by, he didn't bother to slow down. Felt totally neglected. And the taste? I've heard that the fish and seafood is nice at Fervor but I can't say anything about that because i always have beef. The quality of the beef is superb, among the best in Buenos Aires. The biffe de chorizo looks a bit small and compact due to the aging process but it does not loose any of its tenderness and the flavor is deeply intensified. The other cuts are also great, entrana and picana are two cuts to try if you want something different and flavorful. This and the sweetbreads, blood sausages and intestines may not be for everyone though. The restaurant is two floors and is often packed with locals and tourists. Service is fast and correct except on one occasion when i was served a glass of red that was way to big but I can't really complain about that. read more
