I just bought my wedding dress at Ferndales this past weekend and it was such a wonderful experience! As someone that is used to stressing about parking/paying for meters where I live, it was so nice to see plenty of free parking right outside the store. I had gone to a different bridal shop the past weekend to look at dresses and was pretty disappointed at the selection and at the customer service. This experience was such a night and day difference. I had an appointment for 12pm on Sunday and Ana was assisting me. I love how the store is set up - it looks like there is space for 3 separate bridal parties and it's set up in such a way that you can have privacy with your group. I brought my best friend and my sister to my appointment. From the beginning Ana made me feel welcome. I gave her some general ideas and she was really able to nail down what I liked. She was so incredibly patient and I didn't feel rushed at all. She must have brought me over 10 dresses to try on! I ended up finding a beautiful off the rack dress that I AM SO EXCITED TO WEAR that was well within my budget price point. I'm planning on getting the alterations done with Ferndales as the date gets closer to swap the zipper to a corset back and to add side sleeves. I cannot recommend Ferndales enough. There is a huge variety of different styles, fabrics, fits, across a variety of price points here and the customer service is absolutely amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Ferndale's. First, I like how they had such a large selection of dresses online. I sent my top 10 and they had about half of them available for me. I was glad my first choice dress was there because it ended up being my favorite on. However, Ana also brought me some dresses that had not been on my radar that also looked great on. She really helped me hone in on what I liked and decide on the best dress for me. When she gave her opinion, she wasn't pushy. I appreciated her insights and found them helpful when torn between two beautiful gowns. I can honestly say that her guidance resonated with me hours later when I was looking over photos and videos of the dresses. Thanks to her, I was able to see different possibilities with dresses and to feel more confident choosing my dress. I highly recommend this place. It's a family-run business. No frills, just a cozy place with cozy seats and authentic people to help out. The dress prices were fair and well under my budget. I'm grateful that I stumbled upon this gem of a bridal shop! read more

I bought my wedding dress at Ferndales and had an amazing experience! Ana was so helpful throughout the process. She had me try on about 6 dresses in my first appointment, and I found a beautiful dress off the rack for sale that was by far my favorite. I also had my alterations done with them where they hemmed, bustled, and switched out the sleeves for me. The dress and alterations cost me about $1500 total (dress itself was on sale), which I thought was a great deal. Ana was helpful and supportive throughout the whole process. Scheduling my appointments with them was easy. I was also usually the only one in the dress shop during my appointments. I went to a few other dress shops when I was initially looking at dresses, and I felt like a lot of them were overpriced and harder to talk to. I also loved that I did not have to pay for an appointment to try on dresses! Thank you to Ana and team for everything! I felt like a princess on my wedding day! read more

I chose Ferndales for my wedding dress because they appeared to be a long-standing, family-owned business. At first, they seemed knowledgeable and helpful, which made me feel confident in my decision. Unfortunately, my experience took a turn when the dress arrived. The initial sizing was significantly off, and while I expected to need some alterations, the extent of the changes required was surprising. Even more disappointing was the quality of the alteration work itself. The dress was first let out and then taken back in, but when it was altered again, noticeable wrinkles appeared due to the underlying lining not being properly adjusted. This created an unflattering look that clearly could have been avoided with more careful work. When I raised concerns, I was told the issue was due to my body, which I found both dismissive and completeluntrue. The entire process became very disheartening. I had loved this dress, but by the end, I felt so frustrated with both the workmanship and the way I was treated that it overshadowed my excitement. I ultimately had to take the dress to another professional and pay additional money to correct the issues. I would not recommend this shop to other brides. The experience was poorly handled from start to finish and, unfortunately, became the most stressful part of my wedding journey. read more

This was the very first place I tried on dresses for my wedding, and the very last place I ended up at to buy from. Everything about Ferndales was great! The styles of dresses here was better than any where else I went to and the customer service and environment of Ferndales was always on point. I was in LOVE with the dress I picked out, it fit me and who I was to a tee- very classy, beautiful, and simple - it was all thanks to Ana who helped me find the right fit and who introduced me to this new dress that came in THE WEEK that I went there for the last time before buying it. It was a reasonable price as well, especially with the alterations. I've been in weddings for others before and this was the smoothest customer service ever. I never had to wonder if they had all the right details ready for me the next time I visited. I always dealt with Ana. Ana was so helpful and kind every single time I went in. She always made me feel like I was a princess, in a very authentic way. I spent a lot of time researching bridal shops before I went wedding dress shopping. I chose Ferndales because based on the reviews I was hopeful they would have dresses in my size to try on. I couldn't be happier that I chose Ferndales, I had the best experience from start to finish. Unfortunately I don't remember anyone's names, but during my first visit the two women who helped me were so kind and helpful in helping me choose dresses to try on. They helped me find the perfect dress AND within my budget. Honestly I was shocked, I didn't expect to find my dress so quickly and in the first shop I went to. I returned for alterations and at each appointment they made me feel comfortable and beautiful in my dress. I won't need to buy another dress, but will gladly recommend Ferndales to any future brides. read more

To be totally honest, my first impression of this place was not that great LOL. The interior of the shop is rundown looking and could definitely use some updating or renovations, especially the flooring. The changing room is a little room with a curtain, so not very fancy but it does the job LOL. That being said, they have a wide selection of dresses at very reasonable prices. This shop is one of the more budget friendly ones I have been to and the value is hard to beat. Our consultant Ana was very helpful and knowledgeable. We were allowed to browse the dresses on the racks and Ana would pull the ones we selected. My friend (the bride) also showed Ana pictures of dresses she was interested in and Ana did a fantastic job picking dresses that met my friend's criteria. Ana assisted my friend into all the dresses and was able to answer a lot of our questions regarding the dresses and alterations. Ana was funny and genuine, and we all really enjoyed having her as our consultant. When I think of this shop, I think of the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover." While not the prettiest, they have a great selection of wedding dresses and my friend even ended up getting her dress here! If you're a budget conscious bride, I highly recommend checking this shop out. read more

**THIS IS A REPOST TO ADD PHOTOS** If you're looking for THE place to purchase a wedding dress, then you need to come to Ferndale's. So, I had a very hard time when it came to searching for my dress. I am a size 8/10, which is fairly average but when I started looking at stores, a lot of the boutiques I went to only had sizes up to 4 and that resulted in me being forced into really snug dresses. It made the whole process very miserable. So while I was in a rut with no idea of where to go and feeling not great about the whole process, my mom mentioned the place where she got her wedding dress at - Ferndales! We made an appointment that weekend and I went in with my mom and dad. Emily greeted us and made us feel so welcome in the store. It's a small store but they certainly fill the racks with tons of options! We pulled so many dresses, definitely more than I think we were really allowed to put for an hour long appointment but Emily wanted to make sure I got the chance to see and try everything. Towards the end, I found a dress I absolutely loved. I was set on it, and was ready to say yes but my dad said to wait and sleep on it. However, I knew this was the dress. I slept on it and waited a few days before calling and asking if I could come in one more time. I went in and knew it was the one. I said yes that day. Fast forward, I am now 5 days away from my wedding on 11/12/23 and I couldn't have made a better decision than getting my dress at Ferndales. All of the girls working here have made the process so smooth and easy. When it came to the alterations, Connie was amazing. She added all the tulle I wanted, she took my recently passed Aunt's ring and sewed it into the bust so I could have a piece of her wife me on the day, she steamed my veil, and she took my faux stole and added another loop so it would sit looser on my shoulders. She also took care of my mom's dress for the wedding and altered it as well! Overall, if you want to get a dress where when you try them on you aren't being suffocated, there's a huge selection of styles, and ultimately the staff becomes more like family, then go to Ferndale's for your wedding needs. I couldn't thank them enough for all their time, effort and hard work. They've truly been such a blessing. 5/29/24 ADD ON- It is now 6 months from my wedding and I still look at photos of myself and love my dress. I never got it dry cleaned and boxed up because it really didn't get that dirty but I also equally love the idea of it being kept as a moment in time from my wedding so it currently lives in its bridal bag hanging in my closet. read more

I normally don't write reviews, good or bad, but I told my friend about the experience I had here and she said I needed to write a review so that I could, maybe, save someone from going through the same experience. I thought about giving a 1 star, but given how Connie is just absolutely great and booking appointments with this business is easy and hassle-free, I decided to add another star. So here it is: Consultation: Anna helped me find a very beautiful dress. She let me try on different dresses and gave me input on what suits my body type. I placed an order the same day and paid in full. No complaints. Dress fittings: The dress came and it just wasn't the same fit/feel as the I one I loved. I told Anna about this and her response was "What did you expect? You tried on a size 14." I did not like her response. Had I known that the dress I purchased in a smaller size would look terrible, or had she told me it would look drastically different, then I would've gotten the bigger size and gotten it altered. This began series of dress fitting appointments which required me to drive nearly 4 hours round trip almost every weekend. It was exhausting and all I got was 15 minutes of "okay, it'll be ready next time." I paid for the alterations upfront (bustle, shoulder straps). Yet, next time comes and it's still not done. After, I decided to pay for alterations when I see that it's done (hem). Alterations: On one of the occasions, I brought my sister to see the dress. We were brainstorming to see what we can do to make the dress look better, which includes pulling the dress up a little more. Anna heard this and she grabbed onto my dress, while I was still wearing it, and yanked it so hard up and down (we heard it make ripping or stretching noises) and said that the dress wasn't budging anywhere. I also did not appreciate this. We were upset about how aggressive she was when we were just trying to make the dress work. Ultimately, because the dress wasn't done with hem alterations yet, I just asked them to cancel so that I could take my dress to another seamstress that could help me. In addition to charging me $900 for alterations, they wanted me to pay another $300 to make the fix I wanted m. It was ridiculous and I truly believed I could get it done cheaper elsewhere. But, Connie talked to me, offered me a discount on the alterations, and worked with me the rest of the time. She was sweet and listened to my concerns about the dress, offering her expertise and resolutions. I really appreciated that, although I disliked how Anna would give me attitude every time I walked through the door after that. I get that she may have her own hardships and problems to deal with, but aren't I paying customer that's already funneled a few grands into the family shop? It really made me wish I didn't pay in full to begin with. Overall: I still don't love my dress, but it's better than what I got even if it's not better than what I tried on. Connie is great. I would not recommend this store to any of my friends or people who ask about this store, though. read more

A true hidden gem in the world of bridal. So many of the bridal salons that come up these days are cheap, mass-produced dresses with a fairly fake "hiiiii gorgeous bride!" Vibe that just feels very insincere for a sale. Coming to ferndales was a wonderful experience--amazing selection with experienced veterans in the bridal world who know EXACTLY what you need all with incredibly fair and reasonable prices and in-house alterations. I spent most of my time across two days with Ana, who listened to exactly what I wanted, was real and honest with me, and was truly an expert. I didn't end up buying my dress here but came VERY close. Skip the big shops and add Ferndales to your list if you want great dresses at a great price and great expertise!! read more

Went to this place to pick out my wedding dress and I had Great service every time I had to go in this shop for appointments and such. Their dress options are so gorgeous it was hard to choose at first, until I found THE ONE of course! I'm still stunned on how beautiful it was And it fit me PERFECT! size wise! On the first try too. The prices are very reasonable especially compared to the other dress shops I did research on, this one was a life savor. I did make it a 4 star only because I did have to get it hemmed in the front and get bustles put on it BUUUT.... It cost me $560!!!!!!!!!!! I'm like "IM sorry.... WHAT!!!" WTF!!! That's insane. That's almost half the price of the dress itself! I felt it was a total rip off and I would have rather stumbled on it all night then pay that LOL I was so pissed when i left that day. read more

I loveddddd my experience at Ferndales!!! 10/10 would recommend. Anna helped me through the entire process and asked the most amazing questions. She kept eliminating based on the current "dress to beat" and continued to get closer and closer to perfect until eventually we found it. Her process was so impressive and she was so easy to get along with- so real and genuine!! We also CUSTOM made the top to have a cut out from another dress i loved and they were soooo accommodating. My daughter found her perfect wedding dress today at Ferndales! Actually, she found two beautiful dresses and then had to pick one! Emily worked with her to find a dress for her style, size, and vision. The salon has a large variety of styles and sizes, including bridesmaids dresses. I was pleasantly surprised that they carried a large selection of Morilee's plus size bridal dress line, Julietta. We already made an appointment here with the bridesmaids-they have a huge selection of Morilee dresses in all the colors. The bridal party is very excited! read more

This was our first stop and we had such a wonderful experience. Crystal helped my daughter who is very picky and she was so kind and helped her with everything. This shop isn't fancy but the selection , price and attention to detail was a five in my book( I am the mom) We went to a second place which was really nice but we are going back to Ferndales tomorrow to get the dress of her dreams! Let me say that it was so easy to make an appointment and try on multiple dresses and it was a great experience. It isn't one of those fancy shops like blush bridal, but at least they let you try on more that 3 dresses during your appointment here. They have an amazing variety of dresses and the staff was amazing. If you're looking for the fancy place, this isn't it. If you're looking for a beautiful dress for a great price and friendly helpful staff, then this is the place. My dress was a dream! read more

I got married in April 2023. I went to two other wedding dress shops until I found my dress at ferndales. The employees were super nice and helpful. They had so many amazing dresses here! It was very difficult to choose just one! I had an amazing experience up until my wedding day. The dress I purchased didn't originally have sleeves. I wanted to add sleeves to cover my arms. My last bridal fitting we noticed that my left sleeve wasn't done. I asked if this was going to be done before my wedding? They said yes that they will have this complete. The day of my wedding comes and my friend picks up my wedding dress. After we do my hair and make up and I'm ready to change into my dress, my friend notices that my left sleeve wasn't done properly. The alterations looked very sloppy. At that point there was nothing I could do so we had to let the dress be. The majority of my wedding photos turned out very nice. I am a little upset, though that some pictures of my back, you can see the sloppy alteration. For the most part, most of my pictures turned out nice but there are some photos I cannot use because you can clearly see that the sleeve was done incorrectly. I definitely recommend to get your dress here but I would suggest getting alteration somewhere else. If you choose to get alterations here I would suggest making sure the dress is 100% the way you want it before walking out the store. We made the mistake by trusting the store to fix the sleeve and picking it up the day of my wedding. read more

After having a terrible experience with David's Bridal, I was scouting the internet for a small boutique to try to find a wedding dress. I went in thinking I liked aline dresses that were borderline ball gown and left with a strapless sweetheart mermaid style dress that a absolutely adore!! Ana was my consultant and she gave me all the attention I needed to help find what fit my body the best! Not one question went unanswered, we tried on several beautiful dresses where I almost struggled on choosing one but the way this dress fit me was unbelievable!! I couldn't have been happier. Overall I highly recommend this place to find the dress of your dreams! You will not be disappointed with the services and the girls there have one mission - to find the dress you love. Ferndales Bridal really came through for me in such a short amount of time. After countless dead ends calling other bridal shops that didn't want to even try to work with me (since I'm plus size), I had spoke with Connie's husband (Tom, over the phone) regarding a specific dress I wanted. They had the dress but unfortunately not in my size. However, he went above and beyond to help me order the dress in my size and had it rush shipped in time for my Elopement in October! I had multiple visits to Ferndales to get fitted, get a visual idea of how my dress will look by trying on similar dresses and also to have my dress altered. Connie, Ana, and the rest of the team were just so friendly and understanding in helping me be wedding ready before my elopement day. They even suggested a lingerie shop not to far down the street, to have the proper bra to really fill out my dress. I can't thank them enough! I would definitely recommend them and hope to wear my dress again in the future! read more

I had tried on at a few different places but none of them had the range and selection that Ferndales had. I went based on a recommendation from a coworker who got her dress here, and I was definitely not disappointed. I was welcomed immediately and felt very supported in my decisions, the staff was very knowledgable and cared about my experience. Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish!! I was able to get a same day appointment on a Sunday which is unheard of in bridal. Emily was my consultant and she was so helpful and picked the most amazing dresses for me to choose from. And she's the queen of 'clipping' the dress so you can see how it will fit after alterations. I was so fortunate to find the PERFECT brand new designer dress in my size. Ferndale's is also a family owned business so that's an added bonus for me. This place is a must for all brides. read more

The alterations appointments were quick and I felt heard with what I wanted (train shorted and buttons added to the pockets). I felt for this bridal shop as well as all other vendors who were affected by the current pandemic. After trying out a few dresses at their shop, I found a dress what I thought looked best with my figure. They ordered a size 16. Unfortunately, I gained a lot of weight during this terrible crisis, and 16 no longer fit. I was sad to hear that the designer did not have larger sizes. As you can imagine, I was devastated not only because the dress I chose didn't fit, but I now had to try on a Size 20! I cried and wanted to cancel the purchase of the dress and request refund, but this bridal shop does not refund after the dress was ordered. I understand everyone is struggling financially, but the store owner stating they already had a sample of the dress that I tried on so I was I felt I had no choice but to try and find another dress in my price range of $1100 and my new size. Ana, owner daughter and part of bridal staff, was able to find another dress in their shop which was beautiful, full of bling and sparkle, but it was $1000 more, figured it would! So I felt I was forced to but a more expensive dress. I was quite upset. However, Connie, the owner gave me a great discount on the dress, but it still ended up being more than I wanted to spend on a dress. I wish I had come to this bridal salon first. I found a dress at another store on Chapman, but needed some customization to make it a bit more modest (it was mostly mesh and beading). Long story short, it arrived and is nothing like what I requested and paid for. Still waiting for them to resolve the matter. Anyways, I came to Ferndale's to check if they had any dresses that could be delivered within two months. Ferndale's had such a better variety of dresses, good prices, and my consultant was wonderful. I mostly appreciated how she trusted that I knew how to put a dress on carefully and didn't insist on being in the changing room with me. Also, Ferndale's offers in house alterations. The other store did not. I've learned that this is a HUGE plus. Then Connie (?) came and sat down with me to explain the process of adding sleeves. She didn't talk down to me, and took a lot of time measuring me correctly and writing down every detail. I felt very safe in their hands. I said yes to my dress here! I love this little gem of a bridal store! I had called around to several bridal stores to check if they had a specific dress I've been looking at because I would like to try it on and it seems like no one had this (but could be ordered). However when I called Ferndale's, they told me they would call to see if they can borrow one. On my appointment day, they had the dress! This bridal shop is absolutely amazing. They have a good selection of dresses and their customer service was top notch. I previously had a bad experience a different bridal shop so i was a little anxious about the whole wedding dress shopping experience. The stylist that helped me was so kind and helpful. She let my guests and I take our time browsing dresses and let me try on everything we picked. She was helpful in helping me pick styles that I really loved based on photos that I showed her. When it came time to try on the dresses, she answered all my questions but also stood back and gave me time to consider each one and discuss it with my guests. I cannot stress enough just how patient and friendly the stylist and other staff were as I was making my decision. Although the process of shopping for a dress is very exciting, it is also a little stressful and this place seemed to understand that. I also appreciated how respectful the stylist was towards my guests by listening to their feedback and letting them have input during the process as well. This was the third bridal store I went to and I felt pressured to get a dress at the previous stores. However, at Ferndales, I did not feel rushed and felt so comfortable. I told them the dress and designer I was looking for and they pulled one dress and it was THE ONE! I did try on others but kept going back to the first one. I ended up customizing the train to become detachable and they turned it into my DREAM DRESS! They were all so nice and made the process so personal and amazing! Meet the Business Owner: Connie L.

Tom and Connie Linnert have been married for 48 years. They have four children and six grandchildren. From an early age, growing up in Mexico, Connie learned about fashion gowns and dresses from her mother (Coco Pedroza Jimenez) a well-known Dress Designer and Master Seamstress. The Linnerts became owners of Ferndales Bridal in May of 2005, continuing the tradition of previously owned and operated families, since 1958. Helping brides find that special dress is only a small part of the joy Connie receives in sharing her gifts and talents with family, friends and customers. The Linnert Family is honored and privileged to assist brides and their parties as they prepare for their most special day, to be filled with memories for a lifetime.

After a year, once weddings slowly started resuming, I reached out and told her I would pick it up to make room for her other clients, and she left detailed notes inside my garment bag so that we'd know where we had left off, and how much of the fees had already been paid. I reached out to her assistant in January 2022, and was easily able to resume where we left off with alterations. And I finally just got married late February !! By the way, the fees that Shelley charges are absolutely reasonable and probably the lowest you could find anywhere! Best of all, Shelley is so kind and funny, and made me feel so comfortable every time I came to visit. She knows her stuff, and does great, honest work. But their dresses are cheaply made and even the woman who worked there admitted they ran small. In most stores I wear a size 22, which is about a 2X, but their 2X would be more like a 16 or smaller. Even their 4 and 5 Xs didn't fit me. One was too big, the other wouldn't zip up. I can understand the dressing room rules, especially the part about men not standing around them - there's no doors, just curtains, and pull as I would, there was still an inch gap on either side. In the end I felt bad because I left with nothing. However, what could I do? Most dresses didn't fit. The ones that did were so huge even on a fatty like me I could've fit an average size woman in there with me. One thing I don't get, and even the saleswoman agreed with me that it made no sense, why do formal dresses always have to be sleeveless? A lot of women, both skinny and fat, should not show their arms. I guess if I dropped more weight I could fit into their 4X, but at this time, I guess I'm stuck with having to have the dress I need custom made because this was the only store I've found that carried formal dresses that actually looked like formal gowns. (Even Nordstroms has failed me recently.) But their idea of a 2X is just too small.

Ferndales has been amazing. It was the first shop I tried finding my wedding dress, and I didn't have to look any further -- and to top it off, their alterations were perfect. I'm very disproportionate so I was worried they wouldn't be able to bring in the top as much as I needed, but they put in the long hours & hard work to make it happen and I couldn't be happier. I'm from Alaska so I came into town to get my dress altered and they did what they needed to to make sure it was ready to take home with me at the end of my 5 day trip to Orange County. I had a great experience at Ferndales and that is why i open a yelp account to review them :) From the first moment i step inside this place the ladies who work here were so nice and sweet, i am not a girly girl but with their help i found the most beautiful gown and order it the same day!! Few days after i came in with my mom and bridesmaids and they all found their gowns for a great price! I had the pleasure to work with Ana and she was so sweet and knew pretty much what gowns to use for me. When the dress arrived i met with connie for alterations she was very sweet as well and did a fantastic job also she cut a piece of my mom wedding dress and put it in my gown. My daughter found the perfect dress here. Not only was it well priced, Connie made the gown fit beautifully. They are friendly and extremely easy to work with. Their goal is to make the bride happy and look stunning. I was so pleased with my daughters experience that I found a mother of the bride gown. My experience was also friendly and they were very accommodating to our busy schedule. I received numerous compliments on it. I had the absolute best experience during my bridal appointment at Ferndales. Ana was my consultant and I couldn't be happier with her service, knowledge and help! Her years of experience really shined. I selected a dress and a veil. I was thrilled to hear about their seamstress capabilities as I found many stores are limited as far as the customization process to dresses. I honestly wasted my time here. Before anything one side of the shop smelled like throw up . It was disgusting I wanted to give up trying on dresses and leave. The lady that helped me was really patient. However, the dressing room was way to small. I personal did not like this bridal shop. read more

Unlike a few other boutiques I had gone to, they actually had the dresses I chose available at their store so it seems like they actually do a good job of keeping their inventory updated. They also had a wide range of styles at different price points. From the jump, we were welcome to receive waters and other drinks from their fridge. They personalized the area we would be using with a cute sign. Hailey checked in with me and then I tried on the dresses. They were GORGEOUS and high quality. First off, even though they say they do custom embroidery, they don't... they supposedly ship it of to another vendor who does the embroidery using a machine. Second, they promise to give you what you've asked for. They don't, they take the liberty to make adjustments to the design as they see fit... without consulting you! Third, they lied and said they had been working on our dress for months when in reality they didn't start working on our dress until a month 1/2 before we were promised delivery of the dress. Finally, the amount charged, 1500 was extreme especially since we did not get the dress asked for! I was willing to pay the $1500 because I thought I was getting a dress exactly as pictured and discussed with the owner, that was not the case! And the end of it all, the design was changed, we missed our photo shoot because of the dress delay and ultimately had to dispute the final charge with my CC company because of my dissatisfaction. We were left with having to take the dress even tho it wasnt what we where promised. What should have been a special dress for a special girl turned out to be a nightmare!

She was friendly and attentive through the whole shopping experience. The showroom is well set up so you have multiple mirrors to get a view of all angles of the dress. The guests I brought had comfortable seating as I tried on each dress. They even have a long walkway for you to practice walking in your dress to make sure you're truly comfortable. I would highly recommend going to Luv Bridal for your wedding dress. I loved the one I picked out and so many of my guests commented on how beautiful my dress was.
