David at KBF miraculously created a new design which (more than) doubled our storage within the existing footprint! In addition the condo's worn (and cheap) cabinets, wallcoverings and countertop were upgraded to beautiful, top-quality, products which will last us many years. Finally, KBF (and their contractor) easily navigated the maze of regulations and procedures required in our large building. Their skill, craftsmanship and professionalism were exemplary. THANK YOU!

Excellent kitchen and master bathroom remodeling done by KBR Fairfax…read more My 2 projects started end of June and completed mid August. I waited to post this review after fully using the kitchen and bathroom for 2 months, and everything has held up great (no issues). Pricing: KBR gave us the best pricing for the quality of work done. We got estimates from Beautiful Home Services and Dream Design Construction, both of which priced similar remodels thousands of $$ higher. Our kitchen and master bathroom remodel total was around $53K for our single family home. Design: Our Designer Burak, Project Manager Hussein, and Assist PM Omar were very nice and professional. Throughout the whole project, we enjoyed working with them, and they were flexible in accommodating our requests. The KBR Manager was clear about the additional cost over runs. Quality: Our estimated project completion was 4 weeks but as with any renovation, we ran into electrical and plumbing issues (from original house) that needed to be corrected. Our actual completion time was 7.5 weeks, but KBR's team of technicians did a VERY thorough job installing new dedicated electrical lines and plumbing. You'd rather have everything done right (licensed and permits) rather than fast. Fairfax County inspectors approved all the electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work. Details: Every day the technicians would prep the work areas to protect the surrounding rooms and cleanup equipment to help keep my children and family safe. The workers arrive early and leave on time daily, and some Saturday's they asked to work to help keep on schedule. KBR sends a truck to pickup the trash and debris every week from our driveway which avoided any issues with our HOA. Tips: if you can, you should dedicate 1 indoor garage space for their team to store equipment and materials. This speeds up daily setup and clean up. Order kitchen appliances from Costco (2 year manuf. warranty + buy Square Trade Extended warranty for 3 years $99-$120). Summary: The results speak for themselves, and my wife and I are very happy with our new Kitchen and Master Bath. Thank you KBR!

It took over "two years" and the County of Fairfax had to get involved for them to take care of us. They did sloppy and unsafe work. This was confirmed by independent inspectors that we hired and the County of Fairfax Permit Department. Below are some highlights. -Multiple Code Violations for electrical, plumbing and structural issues. -Multiple leaks with ceiling damage. -Our master bath had to be demolished 3 times for them to resolve issues that they generated. -Over 100 issues between the 3 bathrooms. Some were cosmetic others were very major and required demolition. KBR is inept, unprofessional and performed outright illegal/unsafe work. I can provide full documentation and photos to confirm this review is honest and accurate.

I walked into their Alexandria location mid June 2020 to discuss a kitchen remodel. I handed the…read moredesigner some papers that provided details of what I wanted. I requested that the entire kitchen design for the above cabinets remain the same measurements as I currently had. However, I wanted a lazy Susan in the corner unit below, and that meant changing the measurements of some of the bottom cabinets to fit it. I knew what cabinets I wanted. I knew what color theme I wanted. I picked out the color of the cabinets quickly. However, the whole design process from start to finish took 10 weeks. The designer told me he was very busy. I just needed to select the tiles for the floor and the backsplash. Once I left the designer a message that if I didn't meet him that weekend to nail down the tile selection, then I needed to cancel the entire job, he became available to meet with me to look at tiles together. I wanted the work to be done in November so it would be finished for the holidays. The crew was terrific. They were skilled. They were polite. They were very patient with me. I was working from home daily. So, I was always available to ask questions and oversee their work. A few issues came up that I believe was the fault of lack of detail during the design process. The top corner cabinet didn't come with shelves as I requested, but with a rotating round shelving unit. The cabinet above the sink was 3" shorter than my directions in writing that I handed the designer. So, these items had to be re-ordered and didn't come in until early January. Each time I tried to call and email the designer to ask him about these mistakes, he didn't respond. I worked with Luisa, the project manager. While she was never on site during the renovation, she always took my calls or called me back quickly (the same as emails). Frankly, I think Luisa should have been the designer for me and worked with me throughout the entire process. I don't think it was effective to have one "designer" come to my house twice and be available to meet me in the store to later hand it all over to the project manager. I probably feel this way because I didn't really need real design help. I knew what design I wanted from the start. I just needed advice to help me pick out the tiles.

We had already gotten a couple of quotes, but really liked Dan and told them we wanted to move forward. Erika was extremely evasive about a quote. It was getting irritating. After a couple of months I couldn't let her off the hook, I wanted to get this project underway. I had to have an estimate. Her response to me was well "what is your budget." I said "I want what I want. " Again a runaround. She told me how qualified Dan was and any plumbers/craftsman they used and that we need to compare apples to apples. Of course, I understand that. She finally gave me a quote that I thought was quite high. So, in the meantime, I had contacted the manufacturer of the tile to make sure we had a contractor that was qualified to install large format tile. Then, Erika texted me and gave us a 10% discount. "Would that work?" She asked. Mind you, she refused to give us a breakout of any of the costs. I asked about the cost of the shower glass because I knew it was a pass-through. She wouldn't give me that. She also would not give me any itemization. She kept saying whether it comes in lower or higher we absorb the cost/or gain. She said they are different and just give one price. They aren't like other contractors. That's fine, I've never come across that, but they run the risk of losing a client. I got a quote from an equally qualified contractor. Except for Century, he was the highest bidder, but was considerably less expensive. The job is finished and we have a beautiful bathroom - -zero entry (aka walk-in) shower and large format tiles. It's a shame that Erika's evasiveness was very offputting. She seems to handle the business side and Dan does the technical side. As noted above, we were eager to work with them. However, the difficulties with the pricing made it impossible to move forward with them.

We used KDC to renovate our Kitchen, Master Bathroom, and fix some other issues around the house that involved tiling, plumbing, drywall, etc. We first started with KDC on the kitchen, where we had them install all new countertops, and replace our cabinets, basically a whole kitchen renovation. They handled everything and had people for plumbing, tiling, painting, electrical. Everything was handled for us with minimal involvement other than picking out materials. It was one of the easiest experiences where we picked out what we wanted in their showroom and had their project manager coming to the house to review progress on a consistent basis. With how smoothly the kitchen went, we had KDC fix our guest bathroom where things went just as smooth, and then do a whole renovation of the master bathroom. Similarly, we picked out all of the materials in their showroom and the results were amazing. The quality and craftsmanship is very detailed, with new cabinets, tiling, moving different fixtures to new locations, and installation of everything flawlessly. They even alerted us to a cheaper countertop option that still met our needs. All in all, it seems like KDC worked on half the house and did some in a timely and expert way. We've recommended them to friends and happy to do so for others. It was refreshing trusting someone to do a great job with minimal supervision and we're thrilled with the results.
