The most excellent of rental service, customer service, and outdoorsman I've encountered. I made the mistake of last minute packing for a backpacking trip and omitted my tent. I stopped by Feral to grab a rental and not only were they super friendly and helpful? I rented a BRAND new, unopened tent. When I returned it, it wasn't up to my standards of cleanliness because I only packed one paper towel for my trip, but they were super courteous and accepted my return without any qualms. I would highly suggest coming here for your new, used, and rental outfitting needs. read more

If you're flying into Denver, their rental gear is top notch in quality yet cheaper than any other option in town. They stock the best backpacking gear around and have far better choices than REI. I went into the Feral shop on Tennyson St. for the first time last weekend and walked out with an armload of great finds. I didn't know Feral sold used gear till I walked in, but now I'm making it one of my "go to" places. Pretty Feral customer service. We had a small but doable window of time to get an MSR camp stove piggy backed to us on a shipment from Florida to Bogota Colombia. We needed to get this item shipped and guaranteed to arrive 7 days after ordering it. So on Friday February 5th 2021 we called Feral directly and spoke to Rachael who told us that she would personally make sure it got to us on time and would be sent that day. So we went with Feral & ordered that day including expedited delivery, payment cleared same day and we received confirmation via email. On Wednesday 10th we had not received the item and we checked in online to find out the the item had not been sent. We called back and spoke again to Rachael who upon realizing that we were the people she had previously spoken to and had promised to get our item sent, promptly handed us over to Jimmy. Jimmy explained to us that the item had not been sent as it had been flagged by their card provider as we were using a UK card and shipping from one US address to another. Again the payment had cleared Feb 5th but Feral did nothing to communicate this delay on their end to us. Further more even though we had payed for this item they were now out of stock. I explained that we had a parcel leaving Florida for Colombia and that we needed this to be in this shipment. Jimmy did not make any effort outside of a refund other than offering that MSR might be able to ship to us in Colombia. Eventually we rectified the situation with another shop by paying for over night delivery at a $35 cost on a $99 item. I contacted Jimmy and offered that it would be good customer service to refund us for the item and cover our extra costs due to over nighting the item from the new store. Jimmy replied that upon receipt of my email that the original total had now been refunded and that they would not refund our inherited delivery charges due to their mistake. In short this shop seems to have great in person customer reviews. But after my experience I would say do not order online. Mistakes happen I get that. But theres was a chance here to rectify this with the kind of customer service America is famous for. Good customer service is admitting a mistake first time around and rectifying it. The number on the back of my gift card does not work at all, plus the cost quoted $8 dollars for normal USPS shipping (to a location two miles away), for a package that weighs less than a pound. Support your local gear shop. The owner & team at FERAL are super awesome. Not only do they have a sweet store, but they host monthly/weekly events like a Friday night film series during summer. If you are traveling through Denver for a trip and didn't bring your gear with you, they have a rental program. This is also a great way to test something before you purchase. THIS PLACE!!! Talk about walking in somewhere and everyone knowing their stuff and being completely passionate about what they do because they love the outdoors. I was interested in a Gregory octal backpack that REI only had online so i found feral and called if they had it in stock! They did! However they had the 55 instead of the 45 that i initially wanted! After starting the CT with a frameless pack with too much weight I need a framed backpack! When I went over to their new backpack section to try it on it didn't feel too different so i was scared of buying a new pack and it not actually being too much different. A tall man with long reddish brown hair (i forgot his name) came over and took his time to explain everything he knew about sizing of backpacks and frames and no frames. Because i am a much curver girl my torso is 17" which s a medium but i wear my waist strap so low like a large! He took time to explain what sizing up would do as far as more complications and to just let the waist strap ride up to my belly button and the hip straps would stay. I trusted his opinion and bought the back pack and it's one of the best purchases ever! I appreciate the time he took to explain everything to me! I've been having this problem and no one knew how to fix it or understand what i was saying. They just let me say i was a large pack and moved on! As everyone there being a triple crowner or a thru hiker is definitely a blessing! Thank you feral! Their selection isn't huge but before you go looking at a larger store. Support local! We needed a bear canister for an overnight camp/hike trip. Went to REI and had option to buy one for $65... or rent one from Feral for $10!! Great customer service and very flexible with pick up/ drop off times. Even returned a day late due to unforeseen circumstances and they waived the late fee.
