This surplus store was a joy to shop through. It's extremely clean and well organized. I was warmly greeted as found as I entered the building. It was a sincere welcome that I really enjoyed. The selection of clothing, jackets, boots, gloves, knives and fishing/camping accessories was first rate. The prices were good and I bought myself new hoodie that is really warm. I grew up in Arvada and have been shopping this store for many years. These people know how to run a business, and how to recruit fantastic people to work their store. I have been looking for a hard to find size Levi 501 jean for men. Big R in Conifer is usually very good about having these in stock. I have been unable for 3 weeks to find it there or even at Levi's store at the outlet mall in Castle Rock. One call to my favorite place and the person answering the phone had set 2 pair aside for me. These people and store are a throwback to how customer service used to be conducted. Don't waste time when looking for good outdoor gear or levis. Walk into this store and be treated like customers used to experience. Whoever runs this store knows what they are doing. This store does not back up their products. We bought two pairs of jeans a few days ago, the same size from the same brand and one pair shrunk to 3 sizes too small and four inches short. We tried to return or exchange them and were rudely treated and denied the return. My veteran husband was rudely denied a simple return and now your store will not be getting our money. My husband went to this store to try and find me a pair of bibs for sledding. He bought two pair for me to try with the promise he had 30 days to return the unused items. Today, we we went back to return both pair, as neither worked for me, and the person running the cash register couldn't have been any more rude. They proclaimed that our return would "put them back into the red, shamed us 3 times in the conversation until my husband told her to lay off the guilt trips. We had intended to use the money from the return to purchase a few other items, but after the way we were treated, we left and won't return. Do better. read more

I started shopping here over 15 years ago and they've been my go to for work apparel all this time. I bought something and brought it back for a return a few days later. I was humiliated by an employee about returning an item and treated like I was trying to take advantage of them. I won't be back. This store is not my favorite Surplus store in the area. My friend and I came in and were followed around by their management. We were trying on hats and overall trying to be easy and laid back, but their management was suspicious of us! This was before Covid, so it's not like Covid was into play and we weren't following the "new normal" rules on trying on hats and clothing. Get all of your outdoor needs fulfilled here! Of course not everything is going to be top of the line, but they have a really good selection of camping, fishing, backpacking, and other outdoor supplies. You can even purchase your hunting or fishing licenses here. They have a good selection of work boots and hiking shoes. They also have a decent selection of jeans and other clothes to choose from. I love coming here for whatever I need. The staff is very helpful, but they always have what seems like an undercover security guard who tracks your movements throughout the store. If you are not being helped by one of the staff members, this guy follows your every move and it makes you feel really uncomfortable. I assume that they frequently have people come in an steal things to warrant this behavior. Either train the guy to be a little more covert, or install security cameras. With that being said, this place is awesome. Just watch out for the lurker! read more

The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Personally, I go in to buy 1 item and walk out dropping $100 every time. This store is great. While it doesn't have as large of a selection of Army surplus as some of the other stores in Colorado, they stock many other unusual and useful items. One quick side note, if you are a union member, they will give you 10% off when you show them your union card. One of the larger selections of Carharrt clothing in the Denver area, they are a definite go to when you want some sturdy work clothes. They also stock Dickies and some of the other brands of work clothes, so you can outfit yourself for work, yard work, or just leisure. Definitely not the place to go to for high style, but for comfort and leisure, or for those oddball items you can't seem to find anywhere else, this is the place to stop. read more

I don't often review, but this was a bad enough experience to warrant it. I was looking for a sturdy duffel bag and my wife reminded me that there was an Army Surplus store in Arvada. While not all that close to me in Thornton, it is closer than driving to Surplus store I used to visit in Englewood. Let me say first that they had exactly what I wanted. Found the duffel bag at a good price. Spent thirty minutes then just looking around. Fair amount of camping equipment. Some fishing supplies. An aisle dedicated to hunters. Found a few good deals. Most prices were competitive. Probably two thirds of the store is dedicated to clothing. I wasn't really into clothes today, so didn't spend much time in that area. I'd like to have seen more surplus type stuff but I'll still go back. The staff was helpful and friendly. It was a fun place to browse. Location in Olde Town Arvada let me spend another hour just wandering around the area. read more

A great local outdoor store located right in the heart of Olde Town Arvada. Lots of real oddities and random things on top of the vast selction of camping gear, boots, and warmwear. Pricing is comparable to big box stores. Maybe a little more. What this place EXCELS in is Carhartt Outerwear. They have the best selection I have seen in Denver. I would not go to this store if you are clautrophobic, the aisles are literally "one person wide" in most places and it can be frustrating squeezing around everyone trying to shop. Not your typical surplus store... in a good way. This store is not only conveniently located, but has a great selection of camping gear, military paraphernalia, and work clothing. Although it is a bit cramped inside, the thing that stands out is that it's clean and organized. No bare shelves here, and the stuff here is all good quality. I was heading in to go to the neighboring bakery. I stopped by as they popped up as Carhart seller. I walked in and was memorized by the amount of everything this store had. The staff here were so helpful and friendly. I came in to grab a few things for my husband. Needless to say I left with a lot more and he will be pleasantly surprised. I was very impressed with the Arvada Army Navy Surplus store. I love wearing Carhartt T-shirts but its hard to find them, especially in my size. Not only did this store carry multiple colors in my size, they had up to a couple sizes larger than I needed. My wife referred to this store as a "Man store," and I guess I can see that as there wasn't too many pink things floating around there, but hey we have to shop somewhere. Not only did their selection impress me but their prices are a few dollars cheaper than the big chain stores. As we walked up to pay, the gentleman was ringing us up and my father in-law yelled out that he gets a military discount. Without hesitation, the cashier re-rang our order just so he could honor the discount with no questions asked. I was very impressed with this store all the way around. read more

Bad form Arvada Army Navy Surplus, bad form. I don't like the way you take care of your long time customers. Over the weekend I purchased an expensive Camelbak pack. It didn't work for the purpose I bought it for. When I tried to return it I was told I couldn't get my money back because I had filled it with water. I can understand that, after the fact, but at the time as a customer I was looking to find which pack would best suit my needs. I wasn't thinking that if it didn't work I couldn't return it. When I told the clerk this he simply stated it couldn't be returned. I tried to let the clerk know where I was coming from, as a customer, so maybe the next guy wouldn't be so unlucky. The clerk pointed to a sign well behind the counter on the back wall which I had to lean over the counter to see. I told him there was no signage back by the packs to warn customers, he simply stayed his course that I couldn't return it and likened it to "trying to return a can of soda I had already drank half of.". It didn't make any sense to me. I' had been purchasing my odds and ends from here since 1991. I had overlooked what another reviewer described as "one person wide" aisles, the decline of your mens wear to increase womens wear. It's now survivalist gear, womens clothes, a limited selection of camouflage which doesn't really work for hunting (all velcro pockets), The massive selection of Carhartt, shoes and knives. I had been a long time & loyal customer. I had never had a problem with any encounter with the store, but there's too much competition; including online stores, to mess with a shop which doesn't value it's customers. I was surprised by how much good stuff they have crammed into this store. (yes, it's cramped as hell and I'm pretty sure I accidentally grabbed a strangers ass, but hey, the aisles are a little small) Anyway! I actually found petite size jeans here! Holy crap, for once, I found a pair of jeans that I don't have to saw off the bottoms of. Even better, they had a big selection and it was pretty well organized. They also had some cute tops near the jeans section. By the store name, I thought I would be waltzing down rows of guns, ammo, deer heads and stuff. But it's a great place to go for women's clothing! I also marveled at their large selection of camping items. The price was pretty relative to other places. What I appreciated was how many times different employees checked in to see if I needed help with anything. Everyone was super friendly. I love this store! I've been going here since I was a young punk in high school and it was always the best place to get army bags and combat boots. Now that I'm all "grown-up", it has so much more to offer than it did for me back then. They have everything you'd ever need for camping or traveling and a pretty great clothing selection too! Whether you're looking for hard-core outdoor gear, carharts or just a cute lil tank top, they've got it! But the absolute BEST thing about this store is Earl in the shoe department! He is hands down the most helpful and knowledgeable man I've had the pleasure of doing business with. He really knows his stuff and will help to get you into the correct shoe/boot for your situation. We brought our son in to get some boots for a 3 month trek across Iceland and he knew exactly where to steer him and why. We left there knowing that we got the best boot we could get and that his feet would be well taken care of for the duration of the journey. I had already looked around and had absolutely ZERO luck. Until, I came here, to the Army Navy Surplus store. They had it and only cost me like $30... I think. They also have knives, boots, hats/caps, bandanas... you name it. I don't think anyone can enter this store without finding something that they want to buy. Words cannot explain the incredible experience I had at this store. My procrastination lead me here just 24 hours before an intense 13 mile hike. I didn't have appropriate footwear and EARL was able to assist me 100% to find the best hikers for my event. He was so knowledgeable and helpful. I was very excited to learn there was an army navy surplus store nearby my house. I went in and found they had a lot of cool things, I will never buy anything from them though. I have never experienced such a rude group of people. It seems nobody there knows what they are talking about. The staff should know about the products they are selling not have to make guesses about them. Just to add to the dissatisfaction of the store they have been hiring for months, I applied in store and online and have been completely ignored when I ask about the status of my application. I will never shop here again and I will convince everyone I can to stay away from this place. REI is the place to go. read more

I ordered a tent from them online. Realizing I wanted a 4 person tent I decided to call them to cancel my order. Not only were they helpful and cancelation was easy but they even recommended another tent. Their customer service was great and their prices even beat those on Amazon (for selected goods).
