While I would have preferred to have the fence looking nice and clean and done properly the first time, at least they have responded with a solution that doesn't involve me paying money to fix their error. ____ Fence Me In installed a privacy fence at my house a year ago. Long story short: They did not put the fence all the way to the ground: in places it appears they piled dirt around the bottom of the fence to hide how much of a gap there was. That dirt has settled over the year, leaving significant gaps at the bottom, some as much as 6". Basically my dog has figured this out and is squeezing under the fence-- and she is a 65lb lab mix. I reached out to Fence Me In but it took awhile to catch up with them. In the interim, I put some wire barriers around the bottom of the fence to keep my lab mix from squeezing under it . It looks pretty tacky and has been pretty pricey to do. I am disappointed in the quality of work, the lack of responsiveness, and the danger to my dog. She has gotten loose several times while I dealt with this. Finally spoke to the company. He basically told me that a dog eared wood privacy fence is supposed to have 6" gaps if the property grade changes from front to back or side to side. He then offered to charge me to put boards along the bottom of the fence. I've had fences installed in mountainous areas where the yard drop off was much more dramatic than this. Those companies did the work to make sure the fence went close to the ground. I advised that they should have asked me what I wanted instead of piling dirt up to hide the gaps. He said well, we would have had to cut each board and charge you for that to make it ground level on the bottom. I feel that they should have given me this option. I have a cousin in the fence business in another state and have installed fences in four houses. Never had a problem like this.

They are a small company but have been growing very quickly over the last several years. I know this because I first contacted them about some landscaping concepts three years ago. At the time I think the company was scarcely more than a father and son operation. I didn't follow through with that effort but recently called upon them for another different job. They have grown significantly, I am sure from word-of-mouth, and now have multiple logo-wrapped trucks. I've been gut-renovating, almost exclusively DIY, a 100+ year old house. The front porch was brick stairs but they were in bad shape and had uncomfortable tread and riser dimensions. The young man Abraham from Rosete Hardscapes had some excellent ideas about how to retain the existing base but enhance the design with additional concrete, brick, and limestone. As I said, I use very few contractors, preferring DIY, but this was a project I knew was beyond me. They did an absolutely fantastic job. Very skilled craftsman. From the beginning, I made it very clear that I wanted 100% communication and no misunderstandings. The salesperson assured me the entire project (windows, gutters, shutters, etc.) would take about 2-3 months. I was aware I was paying above average, but I trusted their reputation. That turned out to be a mistake. The problems started right away. I assumed measurements were taken during the initial visit, but they weren't. I had to take time off work for another appointment, and the person they sent was in and out in about 20 minutes. After that, communication completely broke down. I had to repeatedly call just to get updates. Months went by with no clear timeline for installation. Every time I spoke to someone, I got a different answer. The office staff seemed completely disorganized, and emails were confusing or contradicted each other. Eventually, I spoke with managers, and even they admitted there were mistakes and miscommunication. But nothing was actually resolved. When installation finally happened, it was poorly handled. They sent only one person to install gutters, which was inefficient and unprofessional. To make matters worse, they somehow retained my payment information and charged me without my authorization, which is extremely concerning. At one point, a manager apologized but then started mentioning that if I canceled, I could be legally responsible. That is when I completely lost confidence. It felt more like a threat than an attempt to resolve the situation--especially considering they had not fulfilled their obligations despite receiving a large deposit. They later came out to take pictures and "check" the work, but it felt like they were trying to protect themselves rather than fix the issues. I have lost an unbelievable amount of time dealing with this--taking off work, making calls, and sending emails. To this day, I still have an issue with one of the windows. I reached out again and received a response that made no sense, and I still have no real answer. Also, their "lifetime warranty" is not even through them--it's through a third party, which was never clearly explained upfront. Overall, this has been an exhausting and frustrating experience. I strongly recommend being very cautious before choosing this company and considering other options. Look for the response towards any complaints they're completely generic. They don't even give at least any kind of explanation as to why of things occurred. I would take my business elsewhere. You're gonna get robbed. They're charge you an astronomical price for something that anybody else could've done much cheaper.

From the initial…read moreconsultation with Rob, to Mike (the owner's) follow up gave my husband and I a great feeling that we had chosen the right company for our needs. Once the estimate was received and approved, the actual work they did was delivered safely, efficiently and professionally. They showed up and worked in some seriously hot weather and through it all they were aware of each other's work and conducted their own efforts with others and their own safety in mind. Just to clarify, our circumstance was a bit different than most homeowners as our tree was a monster. It had grown to an immense size and was situated next to our historic home. We estimated it to be approx 300 years old! We believe due to its age and previous damage wrought by storms and insects, it had lived out its useful life. We debated having it removed ealier, then thought possibly it could stand a bit longer. We were wrong!! Its downfall started initially with the collapse a massive branch (which the crane operator weighed in at 9000+ lbs when removed). It was followed the next day by the entire canopy falling off! We quickly sought information from friends and the internet on a reputable, licensed and insured firm that could handle this unique situation. We wished to have it rectified as quickly as possible to ensure no risk to life or property remained as a result of the tree's failure. Rob and Mike came out and surveyed the scene and got the ball rolling. We received a very reasonable price for removal and the teams showed up the following Monday bright and early. They brought along a team of six to seven guys, a chipper, skid, crane, trailer and grappling truck. Additionally, they brought in a huge crane to lift and situate the pieces as each was cut. The aerial guy went up into the remaining tree and systematically removed each branch (which were the size of trees themselves) cutting and dropping each huge piece with precision. The skid operators worked in tandem to move the piles of debris to a location on the lawn where the ground crews could work their magic. He then carefully tied off each remaining branch suspended in the air, cut the pieces into manageable parts and signaled the crane operator to lift and drop the pieces where the crew on the ground could cut them up and where possible chipped the brush. The team on the ground then cut up the pieces further and located them where the grappler could lift and remove them. Each step was carefully executed and at no time was I witness to anything that made me fearful of risk to life or property. The team, a group of about six folks, came out the first day and worked from 8:00AM to 6:00PM. The second day a team of five came out to finish the work. All this done in the heat and with the threat of rain. In the end the yard looks remarkable and the next step will be to get them out again in the fall to grind the stump! Once they got all the segments down, they dropped the trunk, which was 8' by 6 f' at the base and measured probably close to 50 feet. They again had to cut the tree to sizes that were then loaded onto the trucks for removal. It took them two days to complete the work and at the end of the second day they came through, finished removing the debris and leveled the area where the tree had fallen and the trucks had gained access. Going forward they are the only game in town for us. We will utilize them for all our heavy lifting and landscape work! If you want a job done right by a professional crew with the knowledge to get her done, call All Stumps Plus. They know their jobs and do them well!
