***Update 3-28-2023****…read more They have fixed the gaps by adding a board to the bottom of the fence where there were gaps. ****update1**Fence Me In has contacted me again and offered to put boards across the bottom of the fence to close the larger gaps free of charge. While I would have preferred to have the fence looking nice and clean and done properly the first time, at least they have responded with a solution that doesn't involve me paying money to fix their error. ____ Fence Me In installed a privacy fence at my house a year ago. Long story short: They did not put the fence all the way to the ground: in places it appears they piled dirt around the bottom of the fence to hide how much of a gap there was. That dirt has settled over the year, leaving significant gaps at the bottom, some as much as 6". Basically my dog has figured this out and is squeezing under the fence-- and she is a 65lb lab mix. I reached out to Fence Me In but it took awhile to catch up with them. In the interim, I put some wire barriers around the bottom of the fence to keep my lab mix from squeezing under it . It looks pretty tacky and has been pretty pricey to do. I am disappointed in the quality of work, the lack of responsiveness, and the danger to my dog. She has gotten loose several times while I dealt with this. Finally spoke to the company. He basically told me that a dog eared wood privacy fence is supposed to have 6" gaps if the property grade changes from front to back or side to side. He then offered to charge me to put boards along the bottom of the fence. I've had fences installed in mountainous areas where the yard drop off was much more dramatic than this. Those companies did the work to make sure the fence went close to the ground. I advised that they should have asked me what I wanted instead of piling dirt up to hide the gaps. He said well, we would have had to cut each board and charge you for that to make it ground level on the bottom. I feel that they should have given me this option. I have a cousin in the fence business in another state and have installed fences in four houses. Never had a problem like this.

An agreed upon estimate for $2000-$2500 came back as a written quote of $4500. When questioned the…read morequote dropped to $3500. This quote was also declined. Nice guy but issues with math. I've never had a business not stand by their estimate. That's why an estimate has a high figure. If you underestimate you eat the difference and be more careful in the future. He did share useful advice on roofing as I had originally planned to do it myself which I now will return to doing. Can not recommend. Edit: Individual called shortly after this post angry over review. I stated we had agreed upon an estimate. He stated that he thought he was using my material which is untrue. I have three tab shingles but prior to him leaving we agreed upon architectural shingles that would match the house. I offered the roofing paper I had purchased. He declined stated he would have his man bring his own. Thus it was quite clear they would be suppying all materials. Standard Roofing also implied I should have known about the cost because of YouTube. Really??? YouTube qualifies one to be a Roofer and Roofing rep? I guess we home owners can save thousands by watching a few 10 minutes videos. One star removed for unprofessional behavior. Definitely can not recommend. The below response by Standard Roofing is simple damage control due to a bad estimate they obviously will not honor. Sir my skills are advanced handyman and I also put the roof of that shed which your man complimented. As for materials AGAIN to be clear the individual was quite clear on what was to done and how yet chose not to alter the estimate. As for the mateial you mention step flashing is less than a $1 a piece. This job requires only a few. Your man stated drip protection is not needed as he pointed out Standard Roofing put none on our house. Architectural shingles only cost $44/bundle. So yes I know what it costs and your $3500 quote holds no water besides the cost we home owners see is not the DISCOUNT you get so my adding it up is simply an attempt deflection and yet another untruth by Standard Roofing. Your man made a mistake. You could have easily corrected it by standing by your estimate. Let it go.

This is an excellent company that combines first class construction craftsmanship with astute…read moredesign capabilities. They are a small company but have been growing very quickly over the last several years. I know this because I first contacted them about some landscaping concepts three years ago. At the time I think the company was scarcely more than a father and son operation. I didn't follow through with that effort but recently called upon them for another different job. They have grown significantly, I am sure from word-of-mouth, and now have multiple logo-wrapped trucks. I've been gut-renovating, almost exclusively DIY, a 100+ year old house. The front porch was brick stairs but they were in bad shape and had uncomfortable tread and riser dimensions. The young man Abraham from Rosete Hardscapes had some excellent ideas about how to retain the existing base but enhance the design with additional concrete, brick, and limestone. As I said, I use very few contractors, preferring DIY, but this was a project I knew was beyond me. They did an absolutely fantastic job. Very skilled craftsman. They definitely don't work for free but the value is 100% there. I am very glad I went with these guys, they are top of the line.
