I made an appointment, and when I took the afternoon off to meet the appraiser, he was a no-show. When I called back, I was informed by the very nice office manager that my appointment had been lost because of the new scheduling software that had just been installed. OK, technical problems, I understand... not so thrilled to be out for the afternoon on a wild-goose chase, but fine. I rescheduled, and the co-owner was going to come himself and take a look. He showed up and was very personable; the job is pretty simple, so he was only there for about 10 minutes. Two days later I received a written estimate that was so ludicrous price-wise, I suspect HJ Holtz wanted to gold-plate my house. It was literally thousands of dollars more than any other bid I received. I wanted to do business with someone local to me, but unless you need gold plating and can't figure out what else to spend your vast piles of money on, look somewhere else.

And, there were four different ways I could pay when the project was completed. The painters were professionally dressed and on time. They conducted themselves (it was reassuring that this company is licensed and insured) in a safe manner and took their time...which is what I wanted.
