Three stars only because they forgot to give us our fries, until we went back to ask for it. They also missed adding avocado on my bowl. For something seemingly simple to assemble, it took a while for our food to be ready. When we came, there were only a handful of customers. I did like that they have outdoor seating option. Ordering on the kiosk was straightforward. Although I wish I had ordered in person, and maybe that way they wouldn't miss so many things on the order.

The one thing I wish is that they had a salad size between the kids portion and the regular. Because the kids isn't quite enough and the adult always seems to be too much. I love that you can add basically unlimited toppings when you create your own salad. The only limitations are proteins and cheese. I've made some strange combinations, but they ended up being delicious. I also love that they mix the salad together for you (if you want that) so your dressing is nice and spread out throughout the entire salad. Their burgers are also delicious. They have some that are ready-made creations or you can build your own as well. the one downside is that it seems whenever you order a burger or fries it takes forever. Even when I've ordered online in advance the items from the back seem to take quite a bit of time. They are worth the wait, though!

Tillie's is located on 36th Street in McKeesport, just a few minute drive from the high school. It is also rather close to the Boston neighborhood. The building has adequate signage and is easy to locate. There is an entrance off of 36th Street as well as off of Kountz, and both are usually open. There is some street parking surrounding the building, along with a private lot to the left of the main entrance. I have never had an issue finding somewhere to park when dining in. We arrived to the restaurant around 5:30 PM on a Sunday, and it was not too crowded. I dined in with a group of 5, and we were seated immediately. I have been here on Saturday nights where there is a wait, so just be mindful that there could be a wait during peak business hours. In addition to the normal menu offered, there were some specials also available. We did not order any of these this trip, but there is the potential for some rotating dishes if you come to dine here! To start off, we ordered a few appetizers for our table. We got an order of the Fried Provolone Cheese, as well as the Fried Calamari. The Provolone is in wedges, and served with their marinara sauce - they were crispy and melty just as you want them to be. The Calamari are served with the marinara, along with a special dipping sauce. Both were good and complimented the Calamari well! Additionally, thick-sliced bread is provided for the table before the main courses come. They will refill it if you ask, and it is always delicious. For my main course, I ordered the Parmioli, which is a Tillie's special dish. It is Chicken Parmigiana topped with a giant cheese ravioli and baked together. It is a favorite of my family, so I have enjoyed it many times before. This time was no different, and the dish came out delicious! It was definitely enough for me to have some to take home. The entree came with the choice of a soup or salad, and I had a Small House Salad with a side of ranch. It came out as a nice appetizer before the meal, and was fresh and colorful. Other members of my family ordered different entrees. All were enjoyed by the person who ordered them, and included in my review are some pictures of these dishes: Chicken Alfredo, Lasagna, and Chicken Parmigiana (no mushrooms). There was also a Small Caesar Salad, and a Cup of Wedding Soup ordered that were included with the entrees. Beyond what we ordered on this visit, I would recommend trying the pizza to split with a group. It is especially great if eaten fresh while dining in. If you are undecided or want a lot of food, the Specialty Trio Combination Dinner is a great way to try multiple dishes. Our meal was wonderful! Everyone enjoyed their food, it was all hot and fresh, and was prepared well. The service was excellent, and we had a great experience with our waitress. We have really never had a bad experience here before, and will continue to keep coming back. The prices here are very fair. All meals come with the table bread, a soup or salad, and then the main entree. Most are around $20, but for what you receive it is worth it. A lot of items are made in-house, and the sauce is unique and tasty. I would recommend this place on value alone. I always love coming to Tillie's, and this visit was no different. The food is classic and as close to true Italian as it gets. The charm, atmosphere, and staff all keep me returning time after time. Tillie's has that old-time Italian restaurant charm that reminds you of a different time, but in the best way. Do not miss your chance to try this classic gem if you are thinking about going!

I took a slight detour on the way to work one morning to finally try all of their goodies. Apple Harvest is a newer bakery and catering service out of North Versailles. They serve a variety of donuts, baked goods, pastries, breads, soups, made-to-order breakfast and lunch items, and more. They are located on an unsuspecting street, with mostly industrial businesses around them. It is a few blocks off of Route 30/Lincoln Highway, and it relatively easy to get to. The building has nice decoration and signage out front, so it is easy to locate for a first-timer. As for the interior, it is a smaller space, with a few chairs inside for those waiting on their order. There is no real dine-in option here, as there are no tables inside or outside. There are dedicated parking spaces in front of the building. Additionally, there is some asphalt on the other side of the street for overflow parking. Overall, not a ton of places to park here, but I do not think it should be an issue for anyone coming to visit. I arrived to the bakery around 8:20 AM on a Thursday in September, and it was not too busy. There were a few other customers that came through while I was inside, but I did not have to wait in any line or for very long to be taken care of. The reason I wanted to come here was because of the delicious-looking donuts that I saw online. They are square in shape, absolutely gigantic, and are decorated very well in accordance to their flavor profile. Definitely an Instagram-worthy treat. In addition, they also offer other pies, breads, baked goods, soups, and drinks. They even have a food menu for breakfast and lunch items. I took a few minutes to look around at both the donut selection, as well as the other menu items available that day. The donuts available are displayed in a case that you can see to your left when entering the establishment. It was so hard to choose which ones I would get, because they truthfully all looked so good. The employee who was working the front was very kind and helpful in answering my questions, as well as fulfilling my order. I ended up ordering a half-dozen of donuts with the Maple Glazed Cinnamon Twist, Mocha Chocolate Cream, Burnt Almond Torte, Pumpkin Cream with Pumpkin Frosting, Strawberry Crunch, and Coconut Crunch. I also got an Apple Fritter as well. For my breakfast, I chose a Sausage, Egg and Cheese on a Homemade English Muffin. There was also the option to get this sandwich on a glazed donut. I did not get that on this trip, but will have to come back and try it sometime! The sandwiches are made-to-order, so I waited about 5 or so minutes for it to be prepared. As for the donuts, the employees will pack them in the box for you to take home. Since I was on my way to work, I took everything with me to-go. I thought the sandwich was really good! I always appreciate homemade breads, especially English Muffins. It was cooked well, very cheesy, and overall a great and hearty start to the day. I also like how these are somewhat customizable, as sometimes breakfast sandwiches are fixed menu items that cannot be changed in any way. Usually, I am not a huge sweets for breakfast person, so I saved my donuts to take home and enjoy later in the day. And wow, they were awesome! Though they are very large, they are more of a traditional donut, so they are not too heavy. It would be very easy to eat a full one in one sitting, but also large enough to split with someone. My favorites were the Coconut Crunch, Burnt Almond Torte, and the Pumpkin Cream, though none of them were bad. My fiance loved the Apple Fritter. In terms of value, I believe this place is fair. The breakfast sandwich was $7 before tax, which is what I would consider somewhat average for a local place. My 6 donuts and apple fritter cost me around $25, which for the size and quality I thought was a reasonable cost. Some of them cost more than others, such as if there is filling. The price is definitely more of a once-in-a-while treat, but worth it regardless. Nevertheless, I think for good, homemade items you will get your money's worth here. The only note I have on prices is that some were not displayed, which I would have preferred to see before I purchased. I am glad that my TikTok feed wanted me to come here so badly! This is a nice spot on the East side of Pittsburgh with quality, homemade goods. The donuts are fun and different from any other place in the city, so for that alone it is worth a trip to try. I would love to try some of their other foods or catering items in the future. Plus of course, more of the donuts in different flavors. I know they are relatively new, but I hope there is a wider selection of non/donut items to purchase the next time I come. I would recommend giving Apple Harvest a try if you have yet to visit!
