    Cajun Fish & Chips (Spicy)

I never see anyone in here or talking about it!! Truly underrated imo. I always get the fish & chips with cajun seasoning, it's so much food for an appetizer!! It always comes freshly made, hot and crispy. As someone who hates left overs, it's just enough food and relatively budget friendly (for what I get, $12!!) compared to other places in davis. And don't get me started on the lemonade. Half the price of boba places ($3!!) and the lycee lemonade is incredible. However, if you come here for a seafood boil, you may have a different experience as I've never tried one so keep that in mind!! Highly recommend if you are looking for a midday snack or lunch.

Really enjoy their seafood boil. Expect to pay about $40 for an individual serving. The flavor was amazing. Flavorful Asian entrees. In the past, they have lunch specials that was $10 for a drink and an entree. I remember their Cajun fried chicken being so good. The restaurant is very modern with white walls, light wood accents, and plants. There is also outdoor seating. Their service is pretty fast. Maybe a $10 wait for a takeout order at most.

Love this place. It's a straight up and honest homage to simple ingredients with minimal fuss. We had the combo that had one pound of shrimp, mussels, clams, crayfish. The dish included a cob O'corn, a potato or two and not much else. You can get a few styles of broth to suit your taste. We opted for the traditional Cajun offering that was piquant but not overly spicy. Love this place.

Ordered through door dash last week, finally getting a chance to finish my review. I got an order of the Cajun popcorn chicken and an order of the gumbo and rice. My order was accepted within the minute and I actually got my order pretty fast. The popcorn chicken was AMAZING. The gumbo was pretty good too, even the rice was nice and soft/sticky. My only complaint would be the gumbo only had 1 single shrimp in it. It was still really flavorful regardless. Would order from here again :)

This is by far the worst service and food I've ever experienced in my life....first and foremost I had to order my food on a janky kiosk machine that had the nerve to automatically recommend a 15% tip What exactly am I tipping for?? Additionally they have a sign that says "bus your own table" ....... Insanity. All to have a young woman with AirPods in her ear with no customer service skills drop my food off and not say one word. I ordered 120+ dollar seafood boil with King crab legs, mussels, corn, sausage and potatoes. Absolutely disgusting. I did NOT order a kfc gravy drenched boil with with unpeeled shrimp boo boo, unseasoned potatoes, bland corn and sausage I had to catch on my own because they "forgot" to add them in after they remembered to charge me for them. I will never in my life waste my time and money on something this atrocious. Neither should you. I almost called the show "Catfish" when my gravy boil came out because it was NOT the picture advertised on the wall. This is borderline illegal and not only will I be disputing the charge on my credit card but I'll also be seeking legal counsel for this food robbery that was committed tonight. Change the name immediately!!! There is nothing "Cajun" about Feast Cajun and I should have known that when my lemonade came in a Boboa cup..... bruhhhhh

What was amazing was that they were super Covid friendly. A lot of self serve to avoid contact + I love how they assumed we were tech savvy to do it ourselves. Food was delicious. I got a pound of shrimp, added corn, sausage, and potatoes + a side of French fries. Best meal I had in a while, cost about $30 including tips. My friend got their mussels which was super good as well! Recommend with my utmost respectful regard!

Since I was too lazy to cook at that time, I decided to order a quick meal during one of my long study breaks. It was my first time ordering from Cajun Feast and the Yelp reviews definitely persuaded my decision to do so. The food and drink are actually pretty good! To satisfy my fried chicken craving, I ordered Cajun Popcorn Chicken that I paired with steamed jasmine rice. The chicken was crispy and juicy. The seasoning they added was a bit too sweet for my liking though. The Housemade Puff Pastry Egg Tart was light, airy, which paired nicely with my iced milked tea. I would definitely like to give this place and other dishes another try in the near future.

My husband was craving a seafood boil and we wanted to go to a nice restaurant in a nice area and this place was perfect. We ordered the Seafood Combo #1 with Shrimp, Crawfish, Mussels, Corn, Potato, Sausage, and we mixed all the sauces and medium spicy. We also ordered the Spicy Signature Jambalaya Fried Rice that was so amazing and delicious. It definitely had a kick! We look forward to returning here!

*** Vegetarian Review *** Pro: Can't get any closer to the campus Con: Parking can be a hurdle if you just want to order takeout Tips for First-Timers: 1. There is limited street parking, but be aware of the posted signage. Nothing worse than coming back to your car and seeing a ticket on the windshield. 2. Outdoor seating available 3. They have a $6 daily value meal 4. You can customize your own meal with their "Create Your Down Dish" option. You build a dish by choosing one of each following starch, style, protein, base and sauce. Would I Come Back Test? Yes for the noodles. In fact, I'm looking forward to returning to try their garlic noodle. No for the Mapo Tofu. Comparisons: If you're a Wok of Flame regular, you'll stay a Wok of Flame regular for most dishes, but you may have a new spot for your noodle needs. Build My Own (Grade A) - I choose the egg noodle, stir fried with their signature house sauce, and fried tofu for my protein. It's worth saying these days that the tofu was fresh because I've run into some restaurants that are pushing the suggested Use-By-Date to the limit. I'm guessing not a lot of patrons order the tofu so what they have, is what they have. So, fresh tofu isn't just a given for this past year. Their signature sauce was artfully drizzled so it didn't overwhelm the plate and make it too salty. The star of the show was the egg noodle. I won't go as far as say it was homemade noodle, but it had a nice texture and the egg noodle was the perfect vessel for all vegetables. I particularly liked that the noodle to everything else ratio was 2:1 - thanks for being so generous with the starch in my build-my-own. Mapo Tofu (Grade C-) - You can order this either as a rice or noodle dish. Since we ordered noodles already, we decided to balance our shared meal with rice. The good. Plenty of fresh tofu. The bad. It was overwhelmingly salty. Not sure if it was a mistake or this is how the dish is typically prepared, but between the two of us, we ultimately just pick out the tofu and avoided the sauce. Bottom Line: The guy that was working was super nice and attentive. Filling our waters regularly. (Yup, the salt made us really thirsty). Their noodle dishes appear to be the stars of the show and with the proximity to the campus, super easy to get to between classes.

Cajun Feast is located right next to the MU, so it's pretty convenient for students but may be less so for other people. Parking is hard to find. I find a lot of their food to be very dry. The Cajun fried chicken is flavorful but pretty dry. The rice plate was plain and also a bit dry. The ordering system is pretty autonomous and the staff could be more welcoming. They have a nice modern interior though

Been here once before COVID, and I actually like eating the food here. I got the popcorn chicken here since I heard it was pretty good. Taste: 10/10, especially with the spicy powder on top. It's very umami and I like eating it alone, but it also works best with rice! I actually prefer this over itea's popcorn chicken. Price: It's a little on the pricier, but to get an actual crispy and crunchy popcorn chicken is rare. It's under $10 so I'll take it. Service: I called for a phone order so I can only speak from this experience. They were fast and efficient, and the time I came, there was no line so I got my food fast. Feast is one of my favorite restaurants in Davis, and I'd come here again!

Wow! This order totally exceeded my expectations. I've been meaning to check this place out since they opened last year. They had a 50% off sale during spring break so I decided to finally check them out. The house special sauce was delicious! As other yelpers have said, better than the equivalent (whole shebang) at boiling crab. I ordered it medium spicy and it wasn't very spicy, but that's ok it's better to have it not spicy enough than to have it be too spicy. You can see that I replated it at home with some brown rice to make the picture more yelp worthy haha. The salt & pepper calamari was very good. Surprisingly still crispy even after the drive home. Typically I don't like creamy sauces but the sauce it came with complemented the dish well. The egg tarts were okay. The egg custard was very tasty. The puff pastry was still crispy even though I got them at the end of the day (7pm). Though, the puff pastry did have a hint of fry oil. Maybe they were prepping the puff pastry next to the deep fryer? I guess that's what I get for ordering pastries from a seafood restaurant though. The soy milk is made in house and was very fresh. I might order it less sweet next time. It was very good and reminded me of the soy milk I had in my childhood. Overall, totally exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be back! They packaged everything nicely for takeout, the shrimp came in an extra plastic bag which did help as some of the sauce leaked out, but not a lot.

Past by this place so many times and finally got a chance to come in. Came on a Thursday evening for dinner and it was pretty mellow. Service was order first then sit down, and the place was pretty tidy. The seafood boil price wasn't too bad, but makes me wish boiling crab was still around. The mussel was good, but the shrimp was a bit over boiled. Crawfish is nice, but I've had better. The garlic bread was bomb though - works really well to wrap up the broth at the bottom of the boil. I'd come back to try the Chinese food though since I saw many more ordering those than the boil.

We had the seafood tofu hotpot, shrimp wonton, garlic green bean, mongolian beef, half hainan chicken, and ny steak spaghetti to-go. Was a little busy at 7 on a holiday so we waited like ten minutes to get our order in, the guy memorized our order right as I said it lol. He confirmed and we got our soup in ten mins, ten mins for green beans and mongolian beef, another ten minutes for our chicken, then like seven for hotpot. Most disappointing was chicken, it's not hainan at all and just standard hong kong white chicken. Taste is fine and fresh but was sad. Best was the seafood hotpot AND the wonton soup. Both had great flavor and saltiness and was just sooo good. Wontons were very tasty and had a lot of meat, definitely both pork and shrimp, and soup even had little shrimp in it ifkyk. The seafood hotpot had great variety and flavor, my parents were pleased with the fish bits in it, the tofu was yummy bc it's fried tofu, the crab texture was not great maybe overcooked and I didn't like the soft cucumber but otherwise the broccoli scallop shrimp tofu fish bok choy was all great. Green beans and mongolian beef SERIOUSLY needed some wok flavor and wish the beef had black pepper because the seasoning was a bit lacking (wok flavor would be great here) and overall the vegetables were a little undercooked. They were addictive though I definitely kept going back for more. Hot tea is jasmine tea. Service was a bit lackluster but totally understandable and even though I was in a rush we were in and out by an hour and like ten minutes which worked. Ambiance wise, I didn't like how the lights are half brighter and whiter than the sun and half nicely softly lit. Tables are nice wood and a bit sticky but okay. There's random Chinese TV on the walls, very traditional lol and I think no music. Overall very pleased! Will definitely come back as much as possible to support, and highly highly recommend. I went harsh on Tim's because I was expecting perfect dishes, and even though some stuff didn't hit, everything was way beyond average.

We were both pretty hungry afterwards and weren't sure what places were open, or what we wanted to eat. We decided to drive around downtown Davis just to get a sense of what was open, and saw that Tasty Kitchen was bustling. We had never eaten there before, but as it was pretty much our only option besides fast food (which I did not want), we decided to try them out and have a good Thanksgiving dinner. I took a quick browse at their Yelp reviews before heading in, and the food looked pretty good, so I figured why not. Since we had come pretty much on a whim (I usually heavily research restaurants before trying new places), we weren't quite sure what to order, but I knew I wanted some carbs. We wanted to share a fried rice, so we chose the dried scallop and egg white fried rice. My husband was eyeing the beef stew lo mein, and I was eager to try the beef chow fun with black bean sauce. We were seated quickly and given hot tea to enjoy. It had been a cold day, so the tea was very welcome. We placed our order and then sat back to people watch while we waited. There were a few large groups dining in, but while watching the staff, they all worked efficiently, and food was constantly coming out of the kitchen. Delivery drivers and those who called in for takeout were also coming and going. We waited a while for our food, but it was also because everyone seemed to have ordered at the same time for the dinner rush (and we had come around 17:45 too). I guess everyone was feeling like an early Thanksgiving dinner. We were honestly amazed by the huge portion sizes when our dishes arrived to our table. Everything was reasonably priced as well, and we knew we would have plenty of leftovers. The beef chow fun with black bean sauce was delightfully saucy, and the noodles still had a nice wok hay. The beef was extremely velvety and tender. My husband enjoyed his beef stew lo mein. The egg noodles were perfectly bouncy, and the braised beef was tender. The dried scallop egg white fried rice was pretty good as well. I had hoped for a bit more wok hay and scallop flavor, but it was a little under seasoned. I would say it was a nice palette cleanser if you will, and at least the rice was nice and fluffy. I would have to say that the food here is comforting and hearty, but it didn't have as much depth of flavor as I would have liked. However, you really get your money's worth when you come here. It was $49 for everything before tip, and we had so many leftovers to take home. Our waiter even took our plates and packaged them to go for us, so that was a nice touch. I'm used to packaging my own leftovers these days. There's something for everyone at this restaurant, and I would like to be back to try some of their other dishes. Another table across from us ordered the Mongolian beef, which came on a sizzling platter, and that smelled so good. That will definitely be a contender next time we visit. I'm definitely thankful that Tasty Kitchen was open on Thanksgiving, and will keep this restaurant in our rotation for a holiday meal.

My husband and I came here after lunch and ordered two sauce, fried rice, a spicy, braised beef dish, and gai lan (Chinese broccoli). I was so excited to eat the fried rice and it tasted exactly like what I imagined it to taste like. I don't typically like really starchy, thick sauces, but that was exactly what I was looking for. I don't know, it's not like it's anything super special or a crazy amazing delicious dish, it's just a nostalgic taste that I really missed and used to only be able to get at the old tea house in Davis over a decade ago. The spicy braised beef, unfortunately was the kind of spicy. I didn't want it to be, so if you don't like tongue, numbing spicy, this is not the dish for you. That being said, the rest of the dish was good, I found the meat to be quite tender And well seasoned, when I could taste beyond numbness, lol. Vegetables are vegetables, really not more to say about that. I'll definitely come back for the fried rice and to try other clay pot dishes, which they have a lot of variety of. Also, it seems like a lot of people really enjoy their duck, so I'll be make sure to order that next time. In terms of ambience or service, it is a Chinese restaurant. You get what you get, and that is a person who brings your food out. Just kidding (kind of) I'm not expecting five star restaurant levels of service at this price point. Plates and cups were clean, the server came when I raised my hand, idk I don't really need more than that! Also, as a Vietnamese person who always has cash on her, I love when I get a discount (5%) for using cash.

Loaded with octopus tentacles, scallops, shrimp. Feel like half the time you get seafood options these days they skimp out but this place did not disappoint. The fried rice was a little more unique than I've personally tried before with pieces of beef and cabbage. But still very tasty. And the pork dishes we got including the sweet and sour were just incredible. One thing I do want to mention was some pieces of the pork did have a bone attached, but I honestly didn't mind it much. I am very sad that they closed down, and it feels heavy in my heart as I'm writing this review. When you first step in, you are hit by a wave of nostalgia and it feels like you've been brought back to your childhood. The restaurant gives off a feeling of being back home and it's decorated simply with some pictures of their food on the walls. The servers are friendly and straightforward, which is something I'm used to with other Asian restaurants. My favorite item to get was the stir fried chow fun with chicken. Every time I ordered, it was cooked to perfection! The noodles had a great texture and the dish was seasoned nicely overall. I also liked to order a Hong-Kong milk tea on the side with it as part of the lunch special. The wait time for the food wasn't that long, as I typically come with a few people every time I go. I will miss Yummy Cafe, and I really hope they open up again in the future. The food was made perfectly each time I visited and it does not disappoint in any way. Thank you Yummy Cafe for the wonderful experiences I had!

Visited (twice now) on Saturday afternoons after perusing the Midtown Farmer's Market. This is the type of place where you know locals frequent. Tons of menu options and authentic tastes await. Look around on the walls for postings of (seasonal) specials/menu add-ons. We were checked on frequently and had everything we needed. If you pay in cash there's a discount on your total. We're sure to hit this place up whenever we're in Sac!

We opted for a medium size room, which had a bar-like seating area and multiple couches. Salt & Pepper Fish: This was crispy and well-seasoned and personally my favorite snack/dish! Green Beans: There was a good balance of garlic and spice, and this made for a good side vegetable dish. Empress Martini: They originally brought out the wrong drink (Espresso Martini) and double-downed that it was the correct drink. Thankfully, I was able to convince them that it was the incorrect drink, and I was brought the Empress Martini instead, which was refershing and smooth. Good food and drinks, and the selection of music is ample to choose from (there is also the option of searching up Youtube videos).

On addition, it's always the only place open after 10 pm so when we have the munchies, this is the go to. I recently came back from the east coast and, like always, this is always our first gathering spot, and for many other locals it is the local 3rd place. If traveling from out of town, come here if you want to get a feel for Sacramento, and it's charm!
