TLDR; highlights - rotisserie chicken…read more- dessert menu - limoncello - fresh seafood This was my first time visiting Casa, and as an Italian American raised around traditional foods, I *need* to go back. The first step through the door felt like Thanksgiving to me.. the low hum of chatter as families talked amongst each other, clinking of glasses as people said 'cheers!' and the immediate sight and scent of home-cooked food. Their slow-roasting rotisserie chicken filled the air as we were being sat and seeing them turn over and over in the open ovens had me drooling before I could even ask for water. Because we're in a landlocked state, I always order seafood whenever I catch it on the menu.. but choosing the Fettucine Tutto Mare instead of the Rotisserie Chicken entree has now filled me with a severe case of FOMO. I was impressed with how fresh the crabmeat, mussels and clams were in my dish and it reminded me of my late uncle (who would always demand we go to a restaurant with clam linguine). Paired with the Limoncello Spritzer, it truly felt like I was back home with my family. The dessert menu was filled with a lot of my personal favorites, like tiramisu, but I was too full to order any (which, truthfully, isn't a bad problem to have). But I'm thinking we'll start my next visit to Casa with dessert first... then maybe finish off with a rotisserie chicken

So... we decided to try Zianos. Located in the end of a strip mall, I was a little surprised at the appearance. While clean, it's not a romantic atmosphere at all. Not what we were hoping for but it wasn't too busy, so we at least had a quieter meal. Elizabeth was our server and she was very kind. We ordered breadsticks (at 99 cents per order), and some meatballs for an appetizer. The breadsticks were so good... we ordered the second round. Perfect. Definitely the highlight of the meal. The meatballs were also good. For our main dish, we both ordered the Chicken Marsala. We love a great chicken Marsala. This was different than any we have had. The sauce was thicker than what we are accustomed to having but the taste was pretty good. All in all, the food was good for a fair price. Our server was a little zealous at one point, removing a dish before we were finished, but she did give us two coupons.... For one order of free breadsticks. That should make up for it... Would we go back? Yeah. Does it compare to our favorite local Italian restaurant? Not really. If we were ever back in Fort Wayne again on a Monday when our restaurant is closed, that would be the day we would go.

Casa Grille - pulled pork BBQ pizza…read more A delicious choice. But hurry! It's a summer special and then it will be gone!! The crust has a garlicky butter flavor to go along with the wood fired crisp. The BBQ is nice and spicy with a traditional BBQ tang. The pulled pork is tender with a good meat flavor. We were greeted warmly, asked for a booth and were seated promptly. Ordered beverages and each tried a side salad: one the house w/shaved fennel, the other the starter Italian salad (oh my, both so good!). Loving extra thin crust, we ordered their newer Chicago Tavern Style (different from their tradition thin crust). CRAVE-ABLE! We ordered the Pepperoni Chicago Classic (pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers, onions) and added sausage and green olives to it. I kid you not, the BEST pizza we've had in this area for a very long time! Their extra thin crust is made on premises (not premade elsewhere as so many do), and comes in 12, 14, and 16 inch sizes. Highly recommend!

Giradano's (Dupont Road) - first visit after a LONG time away…read more.. It's been six years since I frequented Giradano's on Dupont. I love deep dish pizza. Though I'm not a fan of waiting 45+ minutes for it to bake. And, I've not found value in an expensive Giradano's deep pizza. Hence, we haven't been back. However, on this evening, we wanted pizza and a nice outdoor patio. Giradano's has a nice, comfortable, attractive and covered outdoor patio. Relaxing and cool. Nice street view of Dupont road. The facility is large and seats a LOT of people. It's a great place for large groups! The team here hustled and helped each other out. Our waiter Michael did an outstanding job - very friendly, professional and paced the dinner & refills. We started with "The Best" bruschetta. We loved the smooth and creamy mozzarella cheese. You could swear that it was just made fresh. The tomatoes were very fresh tasting. The balsamic sauce was a bit thicker and bolder in taste - very good! The outside of the bread was firm but not crunchy. The inside was soft and easily cut with a fork. This isn't the "best" bruschetta I've ever had. It was very good though! On this visit we went with The Special pizza, 14 inch, with the traditional thin crust for $27.75 - yes, still expensive. And, it took waiter said it would take 45+ minutes to cook - same as a deep dish pizza. The pizza is very attractive looking. Love the rich red pizza sauce look and covering of mozzarella cheese. The crust has a pretty golden brown color and the toppings peak through the cheese! The crust used for the thin crust is the same as the deep dish. I found the crust to taste similar to a biscuit - not my taste. It was firm in texture when cooked but not crispy - liked that! The pizza sauce has a rich and thick red appearance. It is sweet to taste but doesn't come off thick. I found it to be a little bit watery - not my expectation. The watery consistency reduced the tomato and Italian seasoning flavors. The moist sauce somewhat accented the biscuit crust and topping flavors. I just thought it could have been much better if it were thicker in consistency. The green peppers, onions and mushrooms were sautéed. This gives them a bit more flavor and helped them blend with the cheese nicely. The Special pizza has sausage whereas the Chicago Classic has pepperoni. I was really hoping for a spicy and bold sausage flavor. What I got was a very mild meat taste. I was disappointed with the amount of sausage on the pizza as well - especially since it was the only meat. Overall we loved the patio and the relaxing atmosphere. The bruschetta was very good. The thin crust pizza was good and pricey. The team on this night was excellent!

After travel we didn't feel like dining in so we placed an order for carry out on their website. The menu is extensive! Definitely something to please everyone. Our order was ready at the quoted time. Employees were friendly at the carryout counter. We had ordered a few different pasta entrées and breadsticks. I had the backed manicotti with cheese and herbs, and it was excellent. Servings were large, enough for two to share or two meals. My friend enjoyed spaghetti with marina sauce and meatballs. I will definitely return to try some other entrées, and would like to dine in next time as the restaurant was attractive and comfortable.

It's located in a strip mall that looks a bit run down. But once you enter the outside door, everything changes. This location has a more intimate vibe to it. Lower lighting and a quieter mood. We were seated in the bar area but it was quiet since it was middle of the day and the bar was empty. Our server, Linda, did something I've never had happen before. She asked our names and proceeded to address us by them the entire visit. She had a great personality and made for a great experience. I'm a huge Mama Daphne fan as is my husband. But we wanted something different. We ordered bosco sticks for the app and husband ordered the spicy Italian meat calzone and I opted for the Papa Petro, a flatbread sandwich with pesto mayo and several Italian meats. We were impressed with both but the Papa Petro won out. Very tasty. Mama Daphne has some competition now. This location is the only location that doesn't serve pizza. They defer to the Marco's pizza location two doors down. So if you want pizza at Salvatori's, skip this location. Otherwise, I'd definitely recommend! Will be back!
