We stopped in and had dinner on Friday. We had the salmon, ravioli, and salads. Everything was fresh and at the correct temperature. We modified the salmon to have garlic butter instead of sun dried tomato butter. The server was efficient and checked on us repeatedly during the dining experience. Chicago Style Pantazi pizza - this month Casa is featuring a Chicago Style named after local sportscaster Dean Pantazi. The pizza replicates a Chicago style pizza. However, it is not as thick as a typical Chicago style pizza. The crust is tall and baked crispy. It has a bit of a biscuit flavor. The sauce is thick, sweet and has a bold tomato taste - delicious!! Ambiance is deteriorating. They have not made a significant investment in years. Bar is broken and worn out. Coolers are constantly not working. The bartender (Jim) who is the best, sweats like a pig because he is forced to wear a long sleeve shirt, has no busser, is a food runner, the overhead fan has 1 speed, (annoying fast) . My family had been really looking forward to eating at Casa Grille, it looked like it promised an amazing Italian culinary experience. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. Oddly, it started very auspiciously, we came in one cold December 2nd and we were politely greeted and seated with no wait. There were plenty of other patrons, but the restaurant had not gotten full yet. The restaurant was well decorated, clean and comfortable. We took some time to review the menu and started with drink orders. My family had some white wines, I ordered the Casatini. The wine was good, but that Casatini was special. It is made with Tito's Vodka, Godiva Chocolate, Bailey's Irish Cream, creme de cacao, and cream. This was so good, so very good. We got some minestrone soups, possibly the best minestrone I have ever had. It was warm, flavorful, absolutely delicious. The complimentary bread was perfect alongside the soup. Sadly, These were the highlights of the meal. We ordered the appetizer, the Polpette. The meatballs just had no flavor, bland. This would be how our main courses were. We had stuffed shells, fettuccini a la carbonara, and the rotisserie grilled pork chops... bland, bland, bland. The pork chop was drenched in sauce which was flavorless. let me start off by saying our waitress was excellent and the service good, but we have been to casa grille many times over the years but the last few times have been disappointing . I had the cappeliin Pasquale and the wine sauce was barely detectectable and so runny and I had to add a lot of salt and pepper for seasoning as it was so bland. there was plenty of bread which im glad as I would of left hungry. I noticed my friend also had to add a lot of seasoning to her meal. we ordered 2 deserts to share one was the turtle cheese cake which was good but such small portion comparing what they use to serve I had the tirumsusue which was even smaller. for $7.99 each the portions should of been bigger, we just missed the old portions. we will give it another try as I said we have had some good meals in the past especially the oven pasta meals and there marinara sauce, but lately not so much. read more

This was our first visit to Casa Grille in Fort Wayne. It is a huge space and is nicely decorated with a large bar area. It was really busy tonight and conversation was hampered. Our waitress promptly spilled a diet drink in the middle of our five top and everybody grabbed their cell phones and pushed back to avoid the deluge! Out of nowhere two other servers appeared and the three of them made quick work with the mess. Good helpful teamwork. My 8-year-old granddaughter loved her cheese ravioli, my wife devoured her four cheese pasta, and our friends liked their spaghetti and meatballs. My rotisserie chicken with raspberry sauce was good but not outstanding although the side of grilled vegetables made up for it. The server forgot to bring my pasta side but I didn't complain as the vegetable side was huge and tasty. All in all The Casa Grille earned this reviewer's solid four star rating. read more

They have good food here. We were happy that this was not the same as Casa Ristorante on W Jefferson. I had a baked Penne Bianco. It was very good. It was double what I could eat. I took it home for dinner another day and still could not finish it. The dish didn't look that big, which was good, but it was very filling. I wish you could order just half with a salad. My wife had a pasta dish with butter and olives that she liked. We found the bread was a miss. It was a soft loaf served with oil and parmesan. We wish it was either bread sticks or crunch slices of bread to dip. We also did not like how the menu is presented. The titles of most of the dishes are in Italian. Even the titles of the sections of the menu are in Italian. How am I supposed to know Pasta Al Forno is baked pasta. I had to use google translate to read the titles of the dishes just to see if I was interested in reading the English descriptions of the dish. Wife and I love this place. Been going for years and is on our "date night" rotation. Tonight was not too busy. Seated right away. Had to wait on our waitress as she had a party, so another waitress came over to take our drink order to help out. I thought that was really nice team work from the Casa group. Well done. I grew up coming to Casa Grille and visited frequently with my Italian American family. On a road trip we happened to pass by and I insisted we pull over to make a stop. The food was nearly exactly as I remember, the house salad and house dressing being top notch, fresh bread service, and tasty pasta. But our service was really really really slow. It took forever between courses and we sat with dirty place for nearly 30 minutes waiting for our check. I understand it was busy, but we felt very shoved in a corner and ignored. Will I stop going? No. But you should plan to spend a bit of extra time here. read more

The bread is an embarrassment: over-proofed American white bread with no substance, taste, or structure. Rosemary chicken isn't cooked to order,it's a reheated, dry disappointment. The infamous Casa salad, when it's not been mixed an hour before, is decent--though why one would use red wine vinegar instead of white is a mystery. I like this place. I always get the lasagna and service is always decent. My only complaint is lighting at the bench tables in the bar was so dim I had to use a flashlight to see the menu. The people at the next table got their phone light out. Are they trying to save on an electric bill ? But I still like this place. Thank goodness I don't have cataracts (yet). We were told by a few people to check this spot out if we liked Italian, so we gave it a shot. It looks pretty from the outside, but the inside has more tables than it should. It feels more like a cafeteria and sounds that way too. It took about five minutes before we were ever greeted to get our drinks. We were also informed right away that they were out of bread. I was bummed because my hubby wanted the complimentary bread with oil and I wanted cheese bread. He then told me it was just the complimentary bread. So we ordered the $7 garlic cheese bread. It was solid, but it was $7. Now here's the kicker about 10 minutes later, tables who were sat after us had the complimentary bread delivered. One table has three loaves. What the heck?! Tables continued to get it during our time there. Our server was trying, but was obviously in over his head. He knew I was pissed about the bread situation so he offered to give us salads at no charge. They salad was ok, but nothing to write home about. We both went with the meat ravioli. You had the options of three sauces. We went with the meat sauce or should I say meat soup. The five pieces of ravioli were served on a plate in what looked like sauce that a glass of water was spilled on to. I could have made a better version with pre- made pasta at the grocery store. We ran out of tea about three times. I also asked for a tea to go and never got it. Altogether we paid $38 (not including tip). This review has less to do with the food and more to do with the absolutely rude manager who made my husband move his truck because of the rude complaints of another customer who seemed to not know how to park their vehicle.
