I'd already packed much of the stuff I cared about and left it to Careful Movers to do the heavy lifting of my many boxes and the furniture and electronics. Since I have stairs in my house and the new one has an elevator he estimated 4 men and more hours due to stairs and elevator that could potentially take longer. Enrique and his 3-man team arrived before the scheduled window. They did a walk through for assessment and then proceeded methodically and meticulously to pack what I did not and move everything to their 1 truck (yes, 1 truck was enough). They packed in 3 hours. At the destination (which was local), in spite of the elevator, they finished the move in 3 hours. 10 hours was estimated, but Enrique did it in 6 hours. Kudos to them! They did a fabulous job. I chose Careful Movers based on everything I heard and asked about. They lived up to their name. Everything arrived in perfect working order, and nothing was broken. We paid a lot ($300+) for each "crate" and expected fully constructed wooden boxes, but what arrived for each "crate" was a poorly constructed wooden rectangle to place the art in and some additional wood pieces to put each side to secure it - but it was in no way what was promised and needed a lot of extra layers to be even partially secure and protected. I knew the drive itself wasn't far, but getting everything out, loading it, and then bringing it all into another place is still a lot of work. They handled it really well and kept things moving the whole time. What I liked most was that the move just felt easy from our side. There wasn't a bunch of standing around or confusion about what needed to happen next. Adil and Miki got to work and made steady progress, and before we knew it, we were already getting everything into the new place. The heavier things were the part I was most concerned about. Those are always the things that make moving feel like such a big job, especially when you think about trying to do it yourself. Seeing them handle that part so well was a big relief. They worked quickly, but I still felt comfortable with how they were moving our belongings. Sometimes when a job goes fast you start wondering if people are rushing too much, but this just felt like they knew what they were doing. Three hours for the whole thing was a really good result for us. It also meant we still had time afterward to start getting settled instead of spending the entire day moving. Then later find out this 7.5foot rack cannot fit into the elevator. Last resort is to use the stair. Total of 7 flight of stairs. They did all that in an hour door to door. Paid a little over 2.5k to move a 630 sq ft 1b/1b 3 miles and had 3, and eventually 4 movers. Overall I'd say it was good, not great When I scheduled I explained I had two walkins with lots of clothes - they assigned me three people when I likely needed more as I had a walkup. We ended up totally missing the window for the move which is more my fault but I had asked the people who confirmed if they felt it was reasonable. They helped move the hanging items (which I expect) and had me pitch in to pack the glass despite having asked for them to send someone to do this. It's not an issue but I do think there was a general lack of communication bw the movers and the ppl who helped book that made the day less efficient than it could have been. I'm happy to pack those things as it gave me an outlet for my moving anxiety and saves me time ofc but even without packing glass it still took 9 hours When I realized we were pretty behind it was very easy to get someone else last minute at noon, so that was helpful and everyone coordinated quickly to make it happen. All the guys were also very respectful and carefully wrapped my furniture (table, 4 chairs, coffee and side table, large tv, bed and heavy lifting frame, chair desk and small wine fridge).
